and pigs can fly. Yea ok, it didn't have a show stopping launch and did disappoint loads of peeps, including myself. I couldn't be asked to play after the free 30 days you get.

So about a couple of weeks ago, for some reason, out the blue I kept hearing and seeing stuff about 1.3.2. I thought hey, I might aswell sub for a month, and I'm definitely seeing some pretty decent improvements. My personal opinion is, the game is indeed developed by Mythic who are renowned(DAOC) and I think WAR has a decent future. Maybe not 9m subs like WoW (apparently a game need that many subs to be successful.....). So yea, for God's sake stop posting crap about WAR dying without 1g of concrete evidence.

We're all Geniuses. Most of us just don't know it.

It's not looking good for war to be honest i'am even starting to hear rumours that Mythic have or are going to lay off up 40% of there staff.

Mythic has closed almost 90% of the games servers.  If anyone wanted to say the game was going to die then that would be some pretty solid evidence.

You saying that you enjoy the game after a year off and how hopeful you are about its future isn't a great counter argument.

If this is true than the evidence is really stacking on the dying side. I'm sure it won't completely shutdown anytime soon, but probably slowly dwindle away even further as time goes by.

'Dying' seems to be a fair description. I highly doubt they'll close it down, if only to keep the consumer's trust before they launch *another* mmo. Dropping a MMO makes a bad stink, you don't want that kind of press when you're working on another MMO.

Considering the game has done nothing but shrink for over a year and with the latest round layoffs the staff has been doing so as well dying seems quite apropriate. It's certainly not going anywhere it seems.

There's talk of the game seeing 'more people' since the performance patch upgrades, and rightfully so seeing they finally managed to do some good performance upgrades. But, even with those statements they can't even fill up the current 6 servers. So whatever is coming back, it's not much in the grand scheme of things, although it may seem(and be) significant on your server.

WAR is a great game, and the recent changes were the first part in making it bounce back.

Unfortunately, the lay-offs are also part of the plan.

Making changes like this is very common in turning a company around.

Anyone speaking gloom and doom about this game is just a hater.

It is one of the best MMOs on the market and it will be around for quite awhile.

This has been Business 101.

I disagree, as do the majority who played the game.

I'm sorry that a game you enjoy is dying, but that's what it is.

Before WoW, 300,000 subs would be considered a wild success.

Also, no need to put words in my mouth.

Nowhere did I say the lay-offs were good, just that it's part of a common business plan to turn the thing around.

You really don't like the game. That is pretty obvious.

However, it's a very well designed game and the recent improvements made a huge difference for many players.

I also find it funny how you say it's dying but then say they will never shut it down.

Shut down = Dead

Your statement assures you are correct in your assumption, (although you don't play the game).

Yet at the same time you mention that they won't shut it down gives you an 'out' in your own argument.

Congrats! You found a way to be right, even if you may be wrong! :D

I know it's been said before but...

WAR needs to go Free To Play.

Look what it did for DDO! I really think the same would happen for WAR. I think they should do what Spellborn is doing. Go ahead and make it free now, generate some interests, and work on content and cash shop development.

I actually think the game has a lot of potential. I am a PvE player and I like the game, especially the public quests. I do agree it needs work though, and it just is not worth the subscription price.

Those layoffs if the rumors are ture are definitely not good it seems most of the jobs been lost are in the creative departments which means unless they hire new staff to replace them which is highly unlikely we won't be seeing any expansions and little to no new content, which to me smells like maintenance mode.

Too bad, there were quite a few good ideas that I absolutely loved. The rest of the game felt severely lacking though and sub-par.

When and if the game dies, I will stand corrected.

However, it is one of the top MMOs on the market, and I will always consider it to be a great game because of the open-wolrd pvp, lore and in being a lot of fun to play. :)

It really is too bad that haters have to feel the need to push new people away from games with comments such as these.

As a MMO lover who wants to see the genre succeed and progress, I really hate to say anything that would deter others from trying  new games, even if I didn't like them myself.

I also stand by my original opinion that WAR is a grat game, whether it's dying or not.

When I went back for the trial T1 was so empty I couldn't get into it. As I've said 100 times, they need a scenario-free server. It gets lame not having anyone for PQs or RvR because everyone is SC grinding.

It really should go F2P.

It increased DDO's subs by 40% and the game is better than DDO imo.

Trials are now free forever till Tier 2.

I have a blast just rerolling over and over.

Tier 1 is the greatest!

I think the endless trial was a test to see weather going F2P is possible for WAR, so I wouldn't be surprised if it did go F2P in the near furture.

Its unfortunate that its in the state its in (lay-offs, endless mergers etc)...

I recently resubed, and still find the game more entertaining than than anything else currently on the market, which sadly, isn't saying a whole lot.

Add to that, I'm not seeing anything on the horizon that jumps out at me, I'm really starting to wonder how much longer I'll use MMOs as my source of entertainment.

Planetside is a dead game.  Sure the servers are still running, but it has not had an active developer for who knows how long.  It doesn't even support windows vista.

There are different degrees of "dead".

I don't hate warhammer and I very much wanted to love it, but it just did not deliver.  Some people enjoy it and some think it will recover.  I do not think it will ever recover and all I need to look at is the ever shrinking development team which is roughly half of what it was after several rounds of layoffs.  Then compare that to the speed of the "fixes" delivered.

This last year we saw the very best efforts mythic could muster with a much much larger team.  Nothing over the past year gives me confidence that the now smaller team will do more and honestly the last year was not enough in itself.  On top of that, the odds of an expansion are rather slim and we can see what happens to games that don't get expansions by looking at the station pass graveyard.

Just because peoples opinions do not match up to yours does not make them haters.  I really thought this was going to be the game to break the market wide open.  I am still in awe at how fast the awesome feeling of the first month went away and the game started dying right in front of me.

I resubbed just for s**ts and giggles before it went F2P.

I am having a lot of fun on the F2P servers.  A lot of people are playing, at least 100 people always on in the Newb Destro guild that you automatically join upon entering chapter 2 area.

Scenarios are popping a lot, people are questing, PQing, instancing, and lots of open rvr going on.  A lot of people end up buying the game for 20$ <very cheap> and get their free month of play.

A new "wave" of players are happening at the moment.  I call it a wave because well, that is what it is.

Since their are 4 "tiers", the wave will continue from T1, to T2, then T3, and eventually become the veterans of T4.  Though don't get me wrong, there are plenty of T4 players on most servers, just a new wave is upon us.

Wether you get back and play your Tier 4 character, or make a new character and "ride the wave", WAR is, at least for now, on an upswing with memberships.

If you have not tried WAR, at least play the FREE T1 and see if you like it.

I am entitled to my opinions, misspellings, and grammatical errors.
