thinking to try lotro and bought the 3 pack for 40 euros. And for the first time ever a game that does,nt work after installing it. I got as far as making a char and when trying to log in to the world stop. I wrote a letter explaining and got and answer which doesnt give me a clue about making work that is understandable. My second letter is below. Ok now i have installed this game on a vista machine and xp machine neither work except being able to make a character. Niether gets past the loading screen. actually one time on xp it loaded for tutorial and then stop. If i had know this was so difficult to install i would never have bought this game and im seriously thinking about calling credit card company and canceling. No other mmo i have bought have i not been able to play after installing. and the technical advice is ridiculous in that i have,nt a clue about what your advice means. But as say thet live and learn thanks for very disappointing introduction to lotro online i wont recommend this hell to any one A very angry player who cant play something i payed 40 euros for.. zelahe

the problem is your computer |

maybe its the graphic card. are your drivers up to date? if you can do everything up to loading the game world, maybe thats whats wrong. also, i used to play lotro on my laptop, and it was already a old machine, it overheated and it crashed when it loaded any 3d games. if you're playing on a laptop, i recommend you use a desktop instead.

Are your PC's capable of even playing games?
What are your specs? You can always go to http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/srtest/ and it will scan your PC hardware and tell you if you can the game your after playing. I always use it to check if i can play them before i buy them. |

Lotro can build a lot of heat on your video card in certain areas, its the only game to push my card to 70 degrees when even AoC only gets it to about 65 at max. If youve tried two different installs on xp and vista then sadly it is something on your end and not on Turbines. You said yourself you didnt even understand their support, which I always found to be helpful, so to me that says you are not overly computer savvy. Im sure these boards would be more than willing to help if youd post your computer specs. |

I am using my wife's "antique" computer while mine is in the shop, and hers can run it, albeit on low graphics settings. It's your computer not the game. Time to trade-in that Kaypro and at least get a computer made within the last 5 years. I use skooma so that I can work harder and longer and make more money so I can buy more skooma. I don't see a problem. |

Was it telling you to edit a congig file in notepad? I had a similar problem when I first bought LOTRO, I can not remember for the life of me what it was that needed editting. If this is your problem I will look it up and try and explain it to you a little better than their knowledge base. If it is the same problem I had it is most definitely not your PC, happened on both my xp and vista machines. For every minute You are angry , You lose 60 seconds of happiness."-Emerson |
