Hey all,

After some consideration and boredom ive decided to go back to WoW. I havnt resubbed yet as i just would like to ask a couple of questions first :).

Last time i played was at the beginning of the year so about 8 or so months go i reckon.

I would like to reroll and start from scratch again - as i would feel out of place to hop onto my 70 something character and go continue.

This leads me to my question for Server - I wanted to know what server is best suited for a reroll character - as it has good population low level while also heading towards 80 aswell. Total population i dont mind but i dont want it to be dead everywhere i go.

Im going to assume Blizzard has not released any new servers within the 8 months, as i remember a big petition going on in Feb for a new server what in conclusion failed with the mod saying no more new servers anytime soon.

In that case what would be one of the newest servers - as im going to assume once again that might have more lower leveled populated areas?

In terms of timezones and all that - it dosnt bother me as i work shifts and im up at any time of the day - Im Australian but like i said no preference because of when im on. Also in terms of server type - i don't mind once again.

Also just a quick question about the latest patch - the 3.3 i think (the one on the PTR). Any estimate on when that might be live?

Thanks for the help in advance - i would of liked to post this of course on the offical forums but havnt resubbed so couldnt. MMORPG.com is great source anyway so thanks again!

Regards,

Why changed server? Just reroll to the same server you got a lvl 70. First  you can send some money and craft thing from your old toon and second if you got some pal in your friend list they will be glad to see you again.

Yeah i was thinking bout that, but the story is that my lvl 70ish character i changed server with all my friends to a new one when free transfer was on. When we did they all decided to quit, what was very annoying at the time, left me hanging. So i havnt had the chance to make new friends or guild on the server i was on.

While i enjoy challenges alot more and dont get as much satisfation out of gaming if i send an alt money, items and so forth. Reason why i like to reroll on a new server.

Thanks for your input though!

Went back to WoW once out of boredom.  Won't repeat that mistake again.  Sure, it was a fun few weeks, but in the end was the same boring crap waiting for me: raid or arena and a bunch of kiddies mocking people for not  being in pure epics 5 min after hitting max level.  I assure you, this still hasn't changed.

But to each their own I suppose.  GL with that.

NEWS FLASH! PAYING THE SUB IN F2P = NO DIFFERENCE THAN P2P GAMES!

Why the hell can't the whiners comprehend this?

Same here. I was gone for almost 2 years before I went back to try again. I didn't last more than a week and a half before I couldn't log in anymore. It was the same quests and content that I just couldn't bring my-self to do over again.

If you don't mind the same ol same ol, then go for it OP. There isn't another game out there that has as much total content. If you find a good group of people to play with, doing the same thing over with isn't so bad. I just didn't have the time or disire to find those people. Good luck to you.

If you haven't resubbed yet, I would recommend just waiting until the Cataclysm expansion comes out. Why burn yourself out again before that? Maybe try Borderlands or Dragon Age for awhile. I would guess most servers are the same, with a high end population and a very low low-level population. That will change once Cataclysm hits. Well, at least there will be a lot more lower levels playing.

Welcome back. The game has not fundamentally changed from a casual gamer point of view so you will not feel "lost" on your return. My advice would be to not worry about low level zones as my experience is that most servers are very quiet in public chat and at low levels. I would be more focussed on finding a good guild to join as soon as possible and they will give you the support you want.

You could either roll a char from the opposite faction to your main so that the quest lines are all new to you ( great way to experience a familiar game as if it was new again) or if you roll the same faction, I would stick to the same server so you can put them both in the same guild and switch as you want to.

Good luck.

I agree. Playing now, you'll probably get burnt out on all the same old same old. I'd wait till Cataclysm launch so at least everything will be new/prettier. Thats what I'm doing

You don't stop playing because you get old - you get old because you stop playing.

I've thought about returning to WoW as well. I cut my subscription a year back when the "new content" with the Lich King expansion was....just more of the same. The game had turned into just the hunt for the next item upgrade. No story. No interesting events. Just a grind.

Since then, I've tried Warhammer, EQ2, Eve, DDO....and been disappointed with all of them. Eve had potential, but it just seemed that you had to let it rule your life to actually get anywhere and the fantasy based other 3 just did everything WoW does, but not as well.

It's a depressing thing, but without a lucky shot in the dark, it's unlikely that I'll enjoy a current MMO more than WoW and I've no desire to go back to it. Mortal Online looks like it has potential if it makes it to release and I would jump back into Asheron's Call in an instant if I could connect to their damn antique servers, but at the moment, it looks like I'm going to doing Magic Online and that most subversive of passtimes....physical exercise outside!!!!

Oh wait, actually, exercise is much more rewarding, just as fun and you get to kick things for real, with very few people shouting "noob!" at you ;¬)
