Just relaying some fantastic news about the success of Aion in the West ;)))

"As part of its third-quarter earnings announcement today, NCsoft said that Aion has now sold more than 500,000 units in North America and 470,000 copies in Europe. Aion's popularity propelled NCsoft to another quarter of triple-digit year-over-year gains. The Korean publisher reported revenues today that were up 112 percent to KRW166 billion ($142 million). Net income during the July-September period soared to KRW46.9 billion ($40 million), a whopping 836 percent year-over-year rise. "

Straight from the horses mouth, not bad for a Korean game.

Dear Supbro,

I really think you should be getting paid by NCsoft.  Seriously, you do a lot better and a lot more marketing than they ever did.  I've seen their in store displays...they ain't got nuttin on you.

On a side note:  I think I might actually like the game in the future.  Surely they won't leave it so parochial l in terms of class specializations. I think the fact that every other Templar next to me is exactly the same is the only bum thing about it.

There are plenty of options to customize the look of you character. Height/girth/hairstyles etc. then you can dye your armor.
What else do you need?

Some of  my  guildmates have amazing outfits. The other day when we met up I was amazed, one lady was in a full blue pantsuit, the other had this orange flowing robe... I was *extremely* impressed.

NCsoft must be rolling in money right now. I hope they now continue to invest in the interests of Western players and implement proper CS and a pro-active GM presence.

Good for them! Thumbs up for a great polished product.

PS - for those of you who come here to bash it - try not to choke on this news - there are so many games still out there that could be bashed.

i don't care about Aion and the numbers, I just want to point out that sold copies doesn't means subs, AoC and WAR sold for a million copies at launch. What is important is the amount of subs.

Not really. Customizing characters sucks, you can eather look like a 12yr boy or a 12yr old girl and thats about it.

Unless you were intending your characters to look this age then your statement is strange. There are more facial features and styles, character customization options in this game then 90% of the games out their.  You can get your level 50 epic armor and make it look like a any other armor design in the game for your race. Considering their are designs for gear almost every level - thats alot of ways to make your character look, including making your armor look like a flowery dress, if you wanted.

It's like you guys stay up at night looking for ways to paint anything about Aion in a negative light.  It's both fascinating and sad.

Good for them. Maybe they can afford proper GM support with all of this money they are raking in now.

Careful when using those tranquilizers dear haters, overdose and they mighty kill you.

Improve Aion's Graphics with a simple text file that you can create by yourself:

-Increase in-game Field of View to 175% or more

-Increase view distance for players to 100 meters with camera at max distance

-Lots of other settings

Learn how by reading this guide at Aionsource

Seriously, just because they sold the game doesn't mean its FANTABULOUS. It actually sucks, hard core. Here's the scoop: I purchased the game, installed, created my toon and attempted to play. The lag was soo horrid, I couldnt click on my first NPC to do the quest. 10 seconds later, I can click and I now have my quest. So I move forward to begin killing for my quest, I click a mob, I attack, all seems well. Then the lag REALLY kicks up. I click a mob, nothing happens, I click it again, nothing happens. I try to attack, NOTHING HAPPENS. 45 to 60 seconds later, after my toon has already walked away, I get a rush of action, my toon spins wildly, damage numbers fly up my screen and the three mobs I attempted to kill suddenly die, and three players and NPCs whiz past me.

That is the WORST lag I have ever seen in my life. Read their forums if you don't believe me. So many people are royally ticked and have unsubbed, as have I. I wasted $40 on this game that I cannot even play. How sad is it that they cannot even optimize their servers to run on all of North Americas ISP. Major FAIL.

If anyone is lucky enough to make it through some levels in the game, here is what the play is like, so Ive been told by MANY sources. You have to quest to get to level 15, and 15 is when you can begin PvP. Unfortunately, they do not organize the PvP with equal levels. So your level 15 and a level 40 comes along and literally smashes your face. Oh, now thats what I call fun....(sarcasm)

After level 25 there are no quests left and it becomes a grind fest. Even more fun.

Thanks but NO THANKS.

I'm sorry to hear that, but I haven't had much problem with lag. And saying of all the characters look like little children, wtf? Have any of you messed around with the character creator at all?

Seriously, if you are going to attempt to disparage the game with your ludicrous statements, at least take the time to get the fact correct.

The acumen of trolls these days is just soooo bad. Way to obvious, I give it 1/10 troll points.

That's not even remotely true.

and to mmogirl: I'm sorry you experienced lag but are you sure it's actual lag or is it your computer? In any case I have had very little lag save one of the beta events. I do sometimes have issue in cities but that's not lag. that's my computer asking me to upgrade it.

I do agree with you on your assessment of sales. Sales are great but mean nothing in the long run. All sales show is that a lot of people were initially interested in the game. It really is more important to check back on the game in 6 months or so.

I do think it will do well but I stand by my 250k - 300k subscriber base guess.

this game just has to be a success. NcSoft has made a great job with this one. No lags and bugs at the launch. Even if almost the whole server meets in the abyss for pvp you dont see any problems with lag. Also the crafting and dungeons are realy nice. Just got to say keep on going NcSoft. The first great game made in asia
