It takes some balls to actually let free speech happen.

I think the fantastic exchange of ideas I've seen in this forum recently demonstrates EXACTLY why that is so important.

Some of the threads in here recently have been pretty wide open and heated, about some of the most sensitive and controversial topics imaginable, and many of us here have beliefs and ideas that are essentially diametrically opposed.  I can honestly say, however, that this is one of the first experiences I've had where I feel I have gained a great deal even from talking to people who's words make my BLOOD BOIL.  It is hard NOT to respect someone who is at the very least being completely honest, and I think in our society we have become so AFRAID of the consequences of speaking our minds that we have really handicapped the exchange of ideas.  I think we could fix a lot of the stupid bullshit in the world if people just had the guts to sit down and talk things out- even the really difficult and unpleasant things.

I was a bit surprised to find such a vigorous "religion and politics" board on a gaming site, but i think Fisher figured it out:

The PvP in any GOOD MMO is going to be just as much about diplomacy as it is about combat and industry.  This is a forum entirely dedicated to intellectual PvP.  And it is so much FUN because we are talking about stuff that really matters to us.

So thanks to mmorpg.com for giving us a place where we can let it all hang out.  While many of these threads sometimes seem to descend into raw anger, I've noticed a growing tendency for people to gain respect for each other even as we learn how different we really are.

And thanks to all of you here in this community,  even the psychotic neocon bastards and fanatical Ayn Rand disciples that think I am an irrational, tree-hugging communist.  See you in the next great debate ; )

Fuck us all. Each and every one of us. *Group Hugs*

If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude; greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.

Hey guys, I'm thinking i might be looking at the banhammer for stuff I wrote in the Fort Hood Shooter thread.

If I get the boot it has been a real pleasure meeting most of you here.

Be well- Enk

Damn I just read that nasty thread. I agree with what you wrote there, obviously, and hope you didn't get the ban.

I'm glad they moved you looney tunes out of my off topic section.  Incessantly whining about stupid bullshit that never changes.

Hope you got your things together. Hope you are quite prepared to die. Looks like we're in for nasty weather. ... There's a bad moon on the rise.

Yours is not the path of force, though force is often needed to clear the path.

Guess he got the banhammer, says user deleted now..

And he knew a lot about the Balkan area, which is admirable.

I am positive he will return though.

Hey guys.

This is Enkindu (I bet you've already figured that out : )  Actually I didn't get banned, just decided I was blowing too much time in here.

outfctrl's asshole post above also made me realize that despite the few people that understood what I wrote in the original post in this thread, there are still a lot of useless fucking assholes (like outfctrl and the kid who though the genocide in Bosnia was groovy) who aren't worth the time.

What I said still stands though, for those of you who didn't share my viewpoints but earned my respect (Fisher, Zin, Ekibio and others) thanks for the great debates.  Also to the many other friends I've made here, thanks for some good times.

I'll delete this account in a few days, just realized I should've said a more proper farewell.

Be well, I won't be posting again.

Cheers guys- live long and prosper : )

P.S. Fisher, sorry I'm letting you down on the great global warming research expedition, but you wouldn't have bought any of it anyway : )

Sheesh Enk, I was just messing with ya and you get all in a hissy fit.  I have never called you any names and you come back calling me an asshole?  You may be a great debater, but you sure are a child.
