Exactly and these are the people that will buy this garbage. I often wonder why they are playing video games in the first place if they would rather purchase stuff with real money. If I found a game that was so boring I felt purchasing my way through or items would be a better alternative, I am smart enough to know I am not having fun and it's time to find a game that I do want to actually play. |

You are exactly right and that is why I chose to cancel and not buy the upcoming expac. What I can do is however let people know why I did and recommend they do the same if they dislike RMT. I suggest everyone who dislikes RMT not to go "oh well" and keep playing. Find games that do give you all of the game for your sub fee and give them your money. If enough do not like RMT then they will not succeed. If enough people accept RMT in their game (this is by either being pro-RMT or by continue just to play without purchasing the items) then it will spread to all MMOs. You have to decide if you want RMT in your games. If you are like me, I don't. The only thing that you can do to tell them you don't want this is to quit. Plain and simple. Complaining will not do anything as long as you still play. They will only look at the numbers. Do what you wish. As a consumer I already told them no with my wallet. |

I think this thread proves that to some players RMT is a big deal. The fact that other players happily pay RMT doesn't change this. |

Of course they complain. Everyone wants everything for free too. However, if they don't really cancel the service, it is not really TOO EXPENSIVE, is it? This is called revealed preference in economics. People will never tell you what they are truly willing to pay, they will always complains. But if they pay it, then it is not too expensive. Oh, i am not offended. Just amused. I am really not too concerned. If i don't like it, i just get out of the market. It is not like there aren't a lack of entertainment options out there. And in fact, the trend is that MMOs are getting cheaper and cheaper. Look at DDO. That is a great model. I pay nothing .. and i can spend a little if i want another adventure pack. I am all for RMT in the DDO case. |

To be honest, the only people who are actually complaining about this are people who see their oh-so-precious 'top spot' on the MMO leaderboards under threat. But in Blizzard's case these useless little pets are just pixels and rendered models, yet people are bitching that they don't like what Blizzard's doing. Not only is it 100% VOLUNTARY, some of it even goes to charity from Blizzard's own choice, and those who are using it as another excuse to whine are, as Jon put it, pretty damn desperate. Get over it, just because someone is willing to spend $10 (which might I add could probably buy you a theatre ticket or a night out at a cheap restaurant) on a useless, virtual pet, doesn't mean it's your problem and you should suddenly be scared that Blizzard is 'sucking money' from players. They're not being forced to buy these pets, nor are they game breaking or even affecting the game's balance at ALL, so stop bitching and go back to your grinding for your oh-so-special virtual sparkling gear with added numbers. Unique upcoming indie space-based mining and combat game - Miner Wars. |
