Nope, it was picked randomly to satisfy Zorns need to hate.

BTW Weren't you the guy whose sig used to say: "ANIME SUCKS BECAUSE IT SUCKS"? Off topic, but what did animes ever do to you for such hatred to be born within you towards some cartoon episodes lol. Your posts are always extremely biased and a lot of them (this for example), is just hate-related because the game has an Eastern look to it.

Grow up tbh.

IIRC, your avatar is from Naruto, correct?

As for my cartoon hatred...there is none, other than it's been a great source of annoyance for me.  A more appropriate saying would have been 'Anime sucks because its' fans suck'.  Not all, but most.  And yes, I am biased, and each of them are based on personal experiences.  Don't worry though, my best friend is Korean, so it's not a racial thing.  I dislike anything that starts genuine and becomes over-saturated and shallow.  Sorta how I feel about MMOs right now, actually.

Correct, and glad to know it's not a racial thing.

I see where you come from, I'm actually similar in that I dislike stuff that are getting more and more generic. Nowadays most MMOs (and every single thing in life) are focusing more and more on the looks, and its appeal towards the masses. It starts genuine, but later degenerates. "All flash, no substance" comes to mind.

However, while sad, it's the direction in which the MMO industry (and the world :p) is heading. Some people go with the flow and adapt, others stand their ground and try to change things.

I am enjoying Aion currently. I realize that it is not a perfect game, and can see how it could be close to the generic MMOs that came before it, but I don't really care as I know this perfect game I'm searching for is never going to launch, and there is less and less chance of this happening the more years pass by.

It's currently one of the best MMOs on the market IMO, and I'll be playing it... until I get bored. I've already had my money's worth, so all is good!

The company started with 12 servers each in the U.S. and Europe at the start of Aion's commercial service last month, but was operating 14 servers in the U.S. and 16 servers in Europe a week later. This indicates that the game was getting as much as 150,000 concurrent users in those markets."

Great to see a Korean game like Aion achieving all this worldwide success.

Wow, that's all?   They must be very dissapointed.   I would expected a lot more with all the hype.  Well, it looks like Aion will soon be just another MMO in mediocrity land.

I really like Aion and my legion seems to be enjoying themselves also. Of course everyone knows that the bot issue and the lag problems with Time Warner and Comcast are a nuisance, but that really is no reason to bash a good game such as this and in reality, the loyal fans who are actually trying to help rid our world of the bots and spammers will in the end be rewarded with a wonderful product which will surely last for many years.

Which brings me to recruitment.  Anyone that is serious about Aion and would like to join a loyal fan based legion of Asmodians, then perhaps Exiled would be a good place to call home.  We are currently seeking new members 25+ and strongly looking for Chanters, Clerics, Templars and Rangers.

I'm still enjoying Aion, but there are defininite signs of things slowing down.

In the zones that have channels, you don't need them anymore, everything outside of channel 1 is a ghost town.

I"m  now level 20 and in my first non-channelled zone, and there's no real issue competing for mobs like there was a few weeks ago.

Could mean everyone's leveled past and is in the uppeer tier/Abyss now, we'll see when I get there.

But one other fact, I'm in a small legion of about 20 friends, and this week almost none of them have been logging in, vs about 8 a night 2 weeks ago.

Could be a minor abberation, but these folks are avid MMORPG players and I suspect they are losing interest.

As for posted numbers, until NCSoft publishes their sub numbers for both the East and West, I'm not buying anything said by other sources including the rabid fanatics at this site.

This new article makes me happy.  I read so many negative comments about Aion on these forums and I like to see positivity.

I like Aion, it's a good game, if you don't like it, why come to an Aion forum?

Aion FTW I believe is the 'in' phrase to say in MMO's. :)

It just shows what Xfire players graphs show.

Today the number of XFire players was an all time low ... 7.1K players That record of 14.5K Xfire for Aion shows clearly a 50% decline in number of players logging in. ALL this in ... 4 weeks time.

And I still think around 5K "players" are over represented on Aion (could be gold sellers could be NCsoft itself).

BTW 2.1 K on Xfire is perfectly on line with the supposed 220-250K subs of the game (seeing that EVE is around 3 K on Xfire).

NCSoft NOT publishing sales NOR subscriptions means it is NOT doing as well as they thought. Period.

And as a stock rated company, they can't plain lie either.

BTW ; look at the sales on amazon.com: the game is OUT the top 20 of PC games . Topped by 5 year old PC games means there is no blood coming in either.

So .... THIS was the MMO game with the BIGGST increase in players ever (in the east)? ...  I seriously doubt it, as there were NEVER a confirmed 3.5M players from NCSoft.

So even in this "postive" thread it is coming from ... "Korean" reporters with unnamed and unconfirmed "guessing" sources.

ALL other measuring tools show the Korean copycat ... bombs just like War and AoC. In fact those 2 games even had some innovation which simply can't be said of this one.

It will never be more popular than Lotro in the west. Ever.

After 6 weeks one can say with ease Aion is no longer the second MMO played after Wow. That honor indeed goes to EVE.

Despite the manipulations on the oversampling on Xfire.

The limited number of 14NA/18EU servers hang as a stone of truth ... around the neck of Aion

Look Zorndorf lost a star again. ;)) The inconvenient linked truth hurts on mmorpg.com

I never ever gave a negative review of Aion.

I only analyse the trends seen in the games populations against the "non verified" hyped up numbers this Korean always had from suspected sources.

I always was against the lying part of those never confirmed 3.5 M players behind the game's western launch.

You will NEVER see me make comments like that on CO or the upcoming ST -  SW games etc .... But I do resent the lying part behind these Korean launches.

More than half of those 400K pre orders came from people even believing this 3.5 M lying part.

Look Zorndorf lost a star again. ;)) The inconvenient linked truth hurts on mmorpg.com

niche market game, it will go the path of WAR and AOC. I'd be really surprised if it beat either of those games.

I played for the first month the game has no real substance at all, and i quit because i thought it was extremely boring.

Sustainment will be key.  And Aion has an advantage, I think;  the game has far greater breadth and depth of pve and pvp than AoC or WAR, the crafting system is more rich, and the influence of players driving environmental control rather than playing a more centric whack-a-mole game like WAR or WoW can be experienced.  We'll see.

Nothing wrong if he made a thread for it not saying same shit in every thread that praises aion.

And why should I keep on saying why his "facts" are wrong? everyone knows apart of him that not everyone uses xfire while playing so xfire's charts are useless.

Though it seldom happens, I am in agreement regarding Zorn in this matter.

The thread was started by the OP quoting statistics that are questionable and unsubstantiated to "prove" that Aion is a smash hit.  Consider it a gauntlet thrown down daring people to challenge the assertion.

So that's exactly what Zorn and others have been doing, challenging the unproven assertions with what "facts" exist out there.

Again, NCSoft could resolve the conflict by publishing their subs, but like I said, i don't think the are very proud of the numbers. (because in the past, they had no problem reporting their L1/L2 Subs)

From what i read, please correct me if im wrong, all he's trying to do is to correct players from keep saying that Aion have 3.5m in asia subs which so far also is not official.

I understand that xfire is not accurate, in that not all players use it, neither do i, but its quite close given the stats.

Hype generate base on un-solid ground is bad, trying to mislead other players, and since this so call 700k SALES is also baseless, though it buffers me why some players would play a game just because its popular, its also good, imo, to refute it...

So it's ok according to you to replace one source of (lets assume) questionable results, ie the newspaper journalist, with another source of questionable results, ie, the anonymous mmorpg.com poster?

He can't predict the amount of subscriptions Aion (or any other game for that matter), because he doesn't have the data to do the calculations. All he has is the amount of EVE subscribers. He needs the percentage of EVE subscribers that use xfire and the percentage of whatever else MMO that use xfire as well. Up until Aion, he wrongly assumed that the percentage of people who use xfire while playing any MMO is the same. Aion was the first of them where there was such a significance difference between the percentages, that he started with the conspiracy theories first, then I gave him the idea that Aion is also sold by xfire as well.

Bottom line, he cannot predict subscription numbers via xfire with the data he has available. He can however predict trends, so by saying that Aion dropped a certain percentage, I do believe it to be true.

It all comes down to believing an anonymous poster of a forum over a journalist whose name is available for all to see and scrutinize.

Theres a lot of speculation on this post, but so far the OP was the only one who bothered to do his research.
