Ok , So me and my girlfriend tried WOW a little while back and got into a small guild on a pvp server and spent most of our time being powerlevelled which if im honest kind of ruined the experience for me as we didn't get to experience any of the game and truely figure out everything the game had to offer.

We both come from everquest2 and both have maxed level characters in a VERY well established raid guild over there on a pvp server. We  are sick of the constant zerging & the recent PVP updates that have killed the PvP aspect of the game for us that made us fall in love with the game.

We are thinking of trying WoW out again and taking our time to learn the game together & bascially want to know what is the OPEN WORLD pvp like in WoW & what the end game raiding is like. We arent fans of the whole arena/BG style of pvp and much prefer the ganking/ being ganked aspect of an mmo.

Are there plenty of places we will see open world pvp in wow & Will we get the same excitment of seeing a bunch of people from the opposing faction out questing & have to worry about being killed or killing them & is it EASY to go hunting in opposing factions questing areas?

Any answers to these questions would be greatly appreciated.

TBH world PVP is a shadow of its former self, I put this down to flying mounts, players dont spend much time on the ground any more unless they have to.

Most world PvP takes place at meeting stones and can often last half hour as the players are caught up in the PvP, but that's at lvl 70+.

Best to join a high pop PVP server or view the server list at about 7pm and make a note of the LOCKED servers then at a quiet time make toons on that server.

There's world PVP 1-65 (no flying mounts) but as most players are 70+ you'll need to seek it out by sitting out side opposition camps and quest hubs.  The chances are meeting an enemy group at low level is very slim, but does happen.

So you don;t think it is worth giing it a try? I figured with the new epa oming out soonish there would be people rerolling and going through all the old ontent.

I don't play WoW anymore, but... it probably would be better to wait until the new XPac comes out. People always reroll for new races and classes added to a game. With all of the rerolls, the lower leveled areas will have a bigger population.

If you want world PvP, I wouldn't suggest WoW. The game has become increasingly instanced throughout its history. Recent updates will make instancing even more accessible. Cata's remaking of old content will undoubtedly spur people to reroll to re-experience, but you're looking, realistically, at a limited time only deal. Once people tire of 'the grind' (like they always do), they'll revert back to their 85s, or just get their lower toons powered up via instances. The truth is, there is no more world (in a manner of speaking), let alone world PvP.

If you still want PvP, and are willing to embrace arena, ensure you pick a dominant class. Rogues, for example, eat warlocks for breakfast. BGs are fun, if not mundane after a while (lack of meaningful objectives?). A perfectly honest statement would be that I could spend 2 hrs everyday requeuing AB after AB if the price of the game was 5 bucks. For 15 I couldn't justify the lack of involvement that the meta-game entails.

If you're into raiding, since that's part of your title, you won't be disappointed. It's easy to 'buy in' to the raiding game. However, if you have any inkling towards being a goal-oriented raider, casual *or* hardcore, you will experience disappointment in due time. The lack of tangible results from a demanding raid, and the high turnover of both content and gear, result in nothing to say for your time and efforts. We could reference the Achievement System, but it's completely artificial.

While one could peg my assessment as biased (and there are plenty of forum trolls who will- one in particular is notorious around these parts), I would suggest waiting out until the next 'big' title hits the market. You would be better off following a game's release and ganking in a world that is alive and populated than revisiting a title that is a shadow of what you ask for.

WoW is a mature game. WoW is an extremely well polished game that is fun to play.

WoW is one of the best raifding games out there. WoW has had some great raids this expansion (Yogg -0 / 1 & Alagon come to mind). The current tier of raiding (ToC) has both a normal and a hard mode. HToC is a bit on the easy side for those guilds capable of handling that. Regular ToC is really way too easy ( designed for pugs imho). Still due to the easy nature of normal ToC it is easy to catch up.

WoW's open world pvp is pretty limited until you hit Hellfire / Northren then you will start to see some. Most of the time World pvp before Northren consists of DKs ganking you. After you hit Northren gear, you will start beating DKs. Instance pvp is WoW's strong spot. I still find WG and BGs alot of fun thou. Arena can be fun as well with a good team.
