- Developers do these deals to different retailers or digital distribution platforms so you're forced to buy every version of the game or you will never have the items.
I hate the way games are going these days where if I can't complete them like get all the achievements cause I didn't attend one thing or I have to pay money to get items on top of my subscription then I just can't play them anymore. In EVE Online the one thing I love about it is CCP know how to run an mmorpg where everything is earnt in game and frigging theres none of these exclusive items or paying money for special ships. Battleships are still as special and nearly as expensive as they were back in the day and the world hasn't become a big bloated mess of special items and everyone having everything cause the developers have dumbed it down.

That is ironically true, EVE implemented RMT in a form that doesn't harm completionists. Anyway, my completionist side also feels this frustration. |

Same here. I always tend to waste soem vault space with useless event crap just for the sake of having it. Not to mention I had to start over my FFX game because I missed the one chest that I need to get one of the summons and it is the ONLY dungon chest in the game that you can't go back to >< OCD sucks A wise GM once told me, |

Corporations. Where there's a buck to be made, the focus intensifies. Everything 'underground' one day will become 'hip', and the core and enjoyment of said thing will be mined and rigged for profit as the sole purpose. Once it's been 'mainstream' and the new 'hip' thing comes along, it is abandoned to its former loyalists. MMOs, hell gaming in general, used to be about having fun. It is disappointing indeed when developers go back on statements and twist concepts to make a buck, alienating fans and running through their pockets. While it's not the end of the world, it is one step closer to being void of enjoyment. |

I totally agree with the concept that has been brought up, but for the completionist in me I'm not quite OCD as some.
For when I was playing WoW I would have loved the opportunity to progress through all the raids in order as to get the proper feel for the toughness of the fights, but like many evolving games it's all about timing, and I simply joined too late. As fun as it was to go the ZG, and AQ at 80 it still didn't seem right.
I did have heaps of fun going through the content I was involved in and IMO if the new content hadn't come out and Vanilla was forever then I believe I would have only gotten through a much smaller amount of raids than what I did. This i think is coz as those who had done everything finished off their last encounter knowing that there would be no more they would have moved on, leaving the population to dwindle.
There are heaps of times in games ike these and in real life too - I would have loved to have seen Wresltemania 1 live or watch Babe Ruth hit some home runs but I wasn't able too, and as much as it pains me to acknowldege the fact that there are some games I will never feel like I completed - that is the cold hard reality.
So I'm going to go drink a cup of cement and focus on getting the most out of my next game. Currently Playing: SUN Online |
