I had to agree and was glad I saved myself the $. Maybe Korean college students or gold farmers can take that much grinding, but I already have a job. Some people claim to have leveled to 50 in 12 days, but only if they run a bot 24/7. Or play 18 hours a day. But I already have a job. What is amusing is that fanbois keep hyping this thing as something new, when all it is a new GRINDER. The only thing about there being no server queues, is that many, many fewer playing now, than when things kicked off. Is that better or worse? I don't know, and don't care, either. Grinders loaded with bots suck, no matter how pretty they are. Simple as that.
Bots level slower than people do. They can grind all day and night , which means they would hit 50 earlier in real time, but it would be MUCH HIGHER play time. Furthermore, your responding to my post where I did not say it was "something new", I said it was one of the only modern MMO's that offer an end-game of world PvP. When it comes to server queues, they were gone on most servers within a week, only persisted on Elyos side on a couple servers for maybe 2-3 weeks after. Hell, Siel-Asmodian only had a decent queue on the first day of pre-release, after that was max a 5min queue. Are you trying to claim that brand new games are not more popular then games that have been out for awhile? That happens in any new game lol. It's common sense - loads of ppl take off from work and near-100% of the population is playing as much as they could the first couple days. Therefore, bringing up no queues (which is a GOOD THING) and trying to claim there are so few players serves no purpose except trolling. Anyone who actually plays knows that there are no population problems in game. It's just one of the troll-favorites of mis-information to spread on the forums. Actually, your post is a perfect compilation of mis-information that are troll-favorites. |

The Tapdance of the fanboi continues... I will make it really simple..... The title of the thread is....."Why so much hate at a successful, highly polished and fun game?" The reasons are as follow: 1. The game is the usual Korean style grinder in a very pretty package. 2. The game got a lot of hype in the past few months, and has not lived up to a good bit of it. 3. The game is pretty, but shallow. 4. Bot-ing is way, way out of control. 5. Too Bloody much grinding for some people. 6. A good many people are not making thru/past their first month. (true of many games)
Some of that is fact, some of that is my opinion, and from the postings on this and other boards, I am not alone in thinking it. You like it? Fine. Happy for you. But the game ain't the best thing since sliced bread, not revolutionary, barely evolutionary, and it won't change no matter how many times you try to spin it.

Funnily enough, Aion now ranks among the few non RMT shop P2P games, since Blizzard caved and started introducing ingame RMT into WoW> |

I like Aion. It's fresh, looks beautiful and plays very well. It is superior to all other P2P MMO's I've tried and the world is incredible to be a part of. Bots are a problem, however it takes all of ten seconds to block the offending usernames when you log in. A small price to pay for mass enjoyment. http://www.recycleyourgames.co.uk - Recycle Your Games and Consoles. Help the Environment and Charity! |

Hey, OP. Easy question to answer. Any game that is successful is going to draw a LOT of hate. Why? Because it sucks away players from the current games thus creating "loss" for people as they see friends and guildies move on to other games and leave them behind. Like it or not, when you leave a game that you have been part of for years, there is real grief involved. While it is a game, you leaving is no different that someone moving in real life. Closure with losing friends is something a lot of people don't like dealing with.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware "Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product." |

Deflection and evasion... the normal tricks of the fanboi with nothing better to say. Fine, put #1 aside... 2-6? Yeah, I thought so.... I played the game for a good many hours and guess what? I don't WANT to know anything more about Aion. I was glad I didn't spend money on it in fact. The different Aion boards (including here) are full of people with the same dislikes as I have, and that is why I checked. I was interested in the game, until I played it. Lots of others with same opinion, quitting or not renewing. Thankfully I didn't have to spend $50 to learn the lesson. Too much grind, too many bots, too many gold sellers. All flash, no depth. Enjoy your game....

Funny how all your responses to me were deflection and evasion, where you completely ignored the facts - such as 12 days play time is comparable to every other MMO to max lvl at release, but you continue to ignore it and keep on with your trolling comments. Which, btw, gives away why you are at the Aion forums. Not to mention you claim you came here because "it is full of people with the same dislikes you have" (the majority of them trolls, like yourself). What else do you call it when you come to a forum in hopes that others agree with you? Furthermore, you say "some are opinion" but.... aside from 6 which you said was true of many games, which of your points are NOT opinions?? Pretty sad that people need to try to find others to agree with them on a forum to feel better about themselves. Especially with the obvious motives of many of the people on them. Hope it actually does make you feel better, so that it's at least worth that much, instead of just being a waste of space. |

Actually, excluding botting, your "dislikes" are laughable at best and nothing like what genuine players have. Also, Gold sellers are extremely few and far between nowadays. You're not even playing the game, how would you know?
The main problems Aion suffers from IMO are:
Secondary problems on top of my head (i've got more than a few):

See, this is what reasonable criticism looks like, from someone who you could tell is obviously playing the game (unlike most on here). DLL crash does suck, but it does seem to be improving a bit. Monday I was PvPing all night, and didnt crash once, nor did I see the sweeping DC's. On the bright side of this one, the sieges have been at least playable, which is more than I could say for War/AoC/Wintergrasp with this many people. I'll never forget the AoC sieges that crash when the winning side is about to win, and logs back in to a loss. Grouping XP is a problem sometimes, but only at certain levels. Typically it is fairly equivalent to soloing, but if you have the group quests for the appropriate area, it is more than worth it. When it comes to the fortress dungeons, the AP is worth it imo. I could agree with the minor issues as well, aside from mixed feelings about the more zones one. I would like more content of course, but more zones is actually a bad thing in a game based around world PvP. Look at Warhammer for an example of what I mean - too many areas means most of them will be empty and make it far too easy for the PvP groups to avoid or miss eachother. The zones in this game are actually pretty big, so I think a better idea would be to fill them up with more content - some more key areas more densely populated with lots to do, and maybe some large shared PvPvE dungeons to fit in with the games setup. |

Also, having more than 1 starter zone is definitely a plus. Going through the exact same zones, quests, content more than twice is not fun at all IMO, don't you agree. Adding one or a couple starter zones would help with this issue I think, but it's not as simple as it sounds as there are a lot of things to consider because it was designed that way (to only have a single starter zone). The fact that solo grinding exp is faster than grouping exp sucks. Grouping is much more fun and is the sole reason I play MMOs. I don't think there's anything wrong with it right now, but seeing as most people think about doing things the most efficient way rather than the most enjoyable calls for a change. Grouping should be the most efficient way to level as well as the most fun IMO, something FFXI excelled at. Don't force grouping, just make it a good bit more rewarding than soloing, it's supposed to be an MMO after all. |

game is boring post 30.
does not live up to the hype the kaion and caion players gave it. has bugged targetting, lousy combat mechanics, terrible class balance, punishes grouping, and sigeing is full of crashes and is disenteresting.
older games had grind but they were fun in other ways and were worthwhile. aion is two dimensional and boring.

Having played more than a hundred game hours, it's just not worth it right now. Client issues, support issues, gameplay issues - hell, even their forums are buggy. A brand-new game should roll out with at least enough support to keep players interested. Instead, most servers are a hell of bots, kinah sellers, and exploiters. That's assuming, of course, that your client doesn't crash with the infamous "CryEngine error." They don't get the "it's a new game" pass on minor bugs because it's not a new game - it's a port of a game that's been out for over a year now. The only difficulties that should've been encountered are ones of localization and globalization. Instead, the game's plagued with bugs. |

Yes, there are peoples who are afraid of AION success. Even though MMO is for entertainment, to the core, it is serious bussiness where huge investment and monies have been spent to develop, and the peoples who are afraid of AION success is non other than competitor MMO companies.
As you see, the majority of the genuine peoples/players here is either currently playing one or two MMO, just quitting playing & looking for other MMO or any other reason. If there is new MMO game appear and could draw lots of positive attention, there will always chance that the player of any other existing MMO game will be switching over and thus this will affect the revenue of the existing MMO.
And so it is part of the task of the existing MMO game companies to stop or halt further expansion of the new MMO game in order to protect their interest and their revenue they can generate from existing players for not defecting to the new MMO game.
Hence there are reason why there are lots of haters/trolls here not solely because of the game flaws but because they have other motives behind them which is to discredit AION in order to minimise the damage AION could do to grab players from every other MMO games.
With Internet anonymity, the haters/trolls who are possibly the peoples from competing MMO companies can create false belief to the masses by pretending that they were purely players who have tried to play AION and then dislike it OR purposely playing AION just to find flaws on it in order to back up their claim to discredit the game to make them look like they are genuine players.
Of course there are genuine players with genuine critics who are visiting this forum to post their concern, but majority of haters/trolls who posted one or two sentences to bash or arguing without valid evidence being presented are clearly either they are from competing MMO game companies and it's associates or fans of other games certain motives behind. |

In short, the reason why there is so much hate surrounding the game is because it is successful, highly polished, fun and NEW. It's still only a month old, so Aion is the center of attention during this period. The forum hate will die off in a couple of months regardless of whether the game's successful or not. |

I thought it was 50% yesterday? Nevertheless I already told you yesterday, this quitting en masse isn't apparent at all on my server which is still buzzing with players. When/If a mass exodus starts I'm sure to contact you so you can enjoy it and come here screaming "I TOLD YOU SO" like some immature kid. Secondly it is NOT highly polished since apparently the game has crashes where a a high number of people meet and is laggy in Zerg combat. Botting. Overall It is highly polished. The cryengine.dll crash is the only game-breaking issue with the game, and they are working on a fix apparently. It's worth mentioning that those crashes never existed in Korea or China, so it was unexpected. I think it's the reason they haven't gotten on top of it yet. I realize that fortress sieges is one of the main attractions of the game, however everything else in game works smoothly and is polished. Thirdly it is NOT fun as there is an ever to ever killing mindlessly mobs just to gain one level (42.000.000 to 44.000.000 to 50.000.000 etc ...) and according to most reviewers the questing is a step back YEARS compared to what people saw in WotLK. Fun is subjective, you should know that. And again, the grind is what YOU as the player make of it. If you play it like your playing WoW with a solo mentality and want to hit cap in a day, then you will find it extremely grindy and not fun. -------- And by the way : Aion got an average rating of 8.00 on the web (PCgamer gave it a 6.0) which is WAY below Games like WOtLK (9.46) Aion was ranked now 194 th(!) game of 2009 on the web: http://www.gamerankings.com/pc/932526-aion/index.html Official Reviews and rankings are meaningless, I've always said that. Even when Aion gets extremely high ratings, it doesn't mean anything really,as long as people are enjoying the game. So where are YOU standing in reality checks ??? Oh the irony! Bashing every single game except WoW, lurking forums to bring "doom" to any person enjoying a game other than WoW, fiddling with numbers to make believe that every single game except WoW "fails", and YOU ask ME where I stand in reality checks? It's a game. Yep, a game.

I just have one thing to say after looking at the forums... "AION GOLD" |

The Aion community on the whole was pretty horrible. Then the gold spam appeared, which closed the door even further, before the sight of bots en mass sealed it firmly shut. The PvE is also horribly unimaginative, which is kinda of expected in a PvP game. It would be nice for once to have the best of both worlds, though. Factor in the total lack of GM presence poor customer support, for me the game quickly lost its lustre. Now I understand all of these things can change over time, so the game is not a complete write-off for me, but I won't hold my breath. |

One can only LOL on the amazing amount of haters on mmorpg.com . Quite simply servers are packed with players. How can that be a fail , i guess all these haters know better. By the way on what server are u playing and what is ur characters name. I play on telemachus and the place is so packed with players , every night the servers show as full i can post a screen if it will make u feel better too. Gold spam has stopped except for an occasional message or two. Half of the reasons people post here are non existent. Don't worry WoW is still and will be top game on the charts LOL.

people bash it for the same reason you make up lies like the thread. Its called your opinion, people come to these forums looking for a new game and want to know peoples opinions.
honestly i'd say for every 1 person that thinks this game is great there are about 5 that think its a pos. This is comming from someone that went to aion with a 70 person guild and 6 RL friends. i played past the free month and was the only RL friend left, also from the original guild there are 40 people left. Its just not a game that appeals to the masses, the leveling is extremely boring 1-50 i don't see how anyone can deny this. Actually the #1 reason i quit this game was because i actually considered buying a bot which i've never considered in any previous mmo i've played.
the person above me is exactly the position of a fanboi on the other side of the spectrum, after the first month you could see a major drop in the player base. Gold spammers still exist everywhere, just because most of them aren't spamming in /3 chat anymore they're still in every town with shops. There are freaking bots EVERYWHERE, you'll hear most people say the bots in the game are almost 40% of server population and i'd have to agree that is pretty accurate. NO NCsoft support at all, should of learned their lesson from lineage 2 The pvp in this game is typical numbers game, any side with less numbers runs away which is extremely easy (especially in the abyss). i could go on and on about the problems in this game, just to make the fanbois happy i'll put the few things i like about this game. Since WoW came out every single mmo thats come out has had mediocre gameplay, Aion is def the first mmo since WoW to have good gameplay + solid graphics. For me gameplay is the number one thing an mmo should focus on, and aion has that. So it honestly could have potential, i just don't think a game thats been out for a year in korea and hasn't changed much at all, probably won't change. There is very little content in this game, and the world is extremely small. |

I will never say Aion is a bad Game, its just not the golden goose I thought it would be.. Its a Korean grinder, with enough westernization to keep it afloat for a few months.
