Yup, it's well known people dismiss estimations and statistics using many lousy reasons when those estimations and statistics don't go their way. You can bet that if DFO was beating Aion on xfire, you'd have the whole fanboi crowd here praising it. Fanbois of huge MMO failures never like to be shown the truth. I'll be around to laugh when darkfall closes due to lack of subscriptions, not generating enough money to maintain servers and, most important, to pay the developers. Because "zomg I'm so cool I like to be a niche" doesn't work anymore when you're out of money. Or do you think money grows on trees in Greece? I doubt darkfall will survive coming year 2010, specially with the new MMOs coming out in that year. Mark my words, we'll talk again about it soon. If you wonder why I don't answer your posts, it's most likely because you are on my ignore/block list. I recommend its use to everyone here - it helps you stay sane, avoid trolls, and by not answering to the troll's bait posts, avoid problems. |

Out of curiosity I have asked nearly all of them about xfire, not one has even heard of it. Most of these people are wow players too. This is hardly concrete I know. Maybe it seems like everyone uses it because you visit sites like this. Why do you think a program like xfire applies to a game that doesn't work properly while it is running? I think you guys are missing the point. The point is darkfall had accumulated 17k hits by 8AM in the morning. More than 8 times as many as any other one. Aion has some controversy around it too, and released a few weeks ago. I'm not saying darkfall shouldn't be on top, I'm saying that 17k is a little too much to be reasonable. I haven't seen anything rise that quickly. |

EvE online followed nearly the exact trend darkfall is following now and look where it is. If darkfall had more hours on xfire than Aion I would not be one of those contribtuing the hours because darkfall is not designed to appeal to the same large audience as Gaion. It was stated before the launch and during the developement that darkfall was a niche game, sorry it wasn't for you. |

I want to know why this is. And don't tell me it's just interest in the game, cause that's really not possible. Not 17k. Not at 8 AM. Maybe 10PM or something would be more believable or something. Considering most people aren't even up then, it's a little odd. Again, it doesn't matter all that much, just curious. Although I can't exactly expect a discussion to stay on course here. |

I loled - and its a pretty novel idea really, and I think legal? Im sure mmorpg.com arent averse to having thousands of hits coming directly off twitter. that user have 700 followers if any of them click one time per update that are 700 000 clicks the when ppl follow you the updates show up on follower profile and all follower friend see the update
ofc promoting stuff on twitter in legal there is no low against that lol and that ppl on twitter are real ppl so u cant conssider them bots
Not only the smart players of Darkfall master the hardcore environment on Agon , the brain in them can even outsmart the mediocrity of whole carebear sites :P -----MY-TERMS-OF-USE-------------------------------------------------- "There was suppression of speech and all kinds of things between disturbing and fascistic." I hope, for your sake, you don't actually believe that Xfire statistics are an accurate representation of a games population. The people who use Xfire are a small slice of the gaming community. Do you think that it would be accurate to ask only Americans whether or not they believe in the Christian God, and then base what the rest of the world believes on those statistics? If you answered yes, then take a look at Darkfall's unique hits today. 17k, wowzers. |

To be honest Darkfall is a better game in terms of mechanics. The graphics suck in comparison but the gameplay is a lot more enjoyable than Aion, so who cares if Aion falls lower. *Activates flame shield.* For the Templars... |

Interesting theory, but I'm going to have to label it incorrect unless you've got some proof of your time machine.
Might want to stick with your IRC Moderator job over at DarkFall, Signus... you're a bit better at it. |

Dang, we are no longer the most popular game.
This is embarrasing, we got pushed from the top by a space mmo in development. No way they can have 12 k hits without a bot program. |

This could easily be true. I find it interesting, because Darkfall's business and marketing models goes against a lot of conventional wisdom. Most MMOs fall into the trap of trying to be "everything to everybody" but Darkfall went the route of being "nothing to nobody." Its marketing was quite clever in this respect, because it instilled a sense of superiority in the user-base, and in fact was able to pass off lousy features and design decisions as 'hardcore.' imagine if you would a car that is constantly breaking down, and horribly unintuitive to drive. It has 12 gear boxes in seemingly random places, and a steering wheel that is cross-wired so left goes right and right goes left. It's common to spend 3 hours to trying to start thing. Bad design? No, no... go back to carebear Hondas, you just aren't a hardcore enough driver. Now normally if you limit yourself to a digital distribution model, you end up offering some sort of trial or demo and then hooking it into marketing and upsells to payment methods. Drive before you buy. But in our Model T Darkcar, this isn't the case. Instead you buy the car based on the very hype that says Consumer Reports 2/10 was a hit job against small indie car-markers which cater to YOU, the hardcore elite driver. Hell, the reviewer only drove for 6 hours and 3 of those were spent getting the ignition to turn over.
Darkfall is a status symbol. A secret handshake for the self-described hardcore elite PvP crowd. Whether or not this is actually true is irrelevant. The perception is everything. Once the consumer is psychologically bought-in to an idea like this, he becomes your marketing force. Marketing is normally a huge budget of any major MMO company. If you can get your players to do it for free, you're way ahead of the competition.

Often folks try to make a catchy analogy to explain the hodgepodge of junk systems that is darkfall and I've even seen cars used before but this is the best description I've seen of what AV does. And Greece has an Air Force? |
