Hello MMORPG members,

I am Stephen and i just 4 days ago i bought Aion, visually stunning and a fantastic storyline.

I after not even two days of owning the account was banned. I was given no notification, i found this rather distressing and thought "Must be a mistake, i'll just said a polite email to NCSoft and this will be figured out." I then waited 2 days (over 48 hours) eagerly awaiting a response. I came home today hoping and saw no email. In desperation i tried using the website to see if any updates had come my way. I used the email address and password i supplied along with the ticket and found:

The username and password combination you provided is invalid or your account has been disabled.

If you believe you may have mistyped either value, use the browser Back button to return to the login page and try again.

If you have forgotten your username or password please visit Account Assistance to recover your account credentials.

At this point i felt that i had truely been stolen from.

After reading more in depth in the Aion User Agreement it turns out that this:

(a) NC Interactive reserves the right to suspend or terminate this Agreement (including your Software license and your Account) immediately and without notice if you breach this Agreement or willfully infringe any third party intellectual property rights, or if we are unable to verify or authenticate any information you provide to us, or upon game play, chat or any player activity whatsoever which is, in our sole discretion, inappropriate and/or in violation of the spirit of the Game as described in the Rules of Conduct.

Translates to:

NC Interactive reserves the right to ban your account and take any money you may have spent on it at any given time. This is because the NC Interactive do not have to notify you of the ban, and you cannot appeal in anyway. NC Interactive would also like to state that you have no standing in any legal action because you have nothing to present, all information is withheld from you.

It is a beautiful world in which we live when a user cannot appeal or even get notification of a ban. I only owned this game for 2 days, and i'm sure there are other users out there that have had this happen to them aswell.

Just please remember that:

A) You cannot appeal any bans, once a decision has been made your account is gone.

B) Any money you spend is not redeemable.

C) NC Interactive can ban you for anything they like, they hold the right to disclose nothing.

I hope this information and makes you think twice about which games you buy in the future.

Wow u sure are polite "fellow MMORPG members" but honestly ur story is hard to believe. first of all i agree aion Support is slow but also they take time to ban people.....2days is super speed for them and if u did nothing cept lvling u wouldnt of goten banned.

u got a speical case. most people who email nc about account matter usually gets a response in 24hrs

I have read more 'My account was stolen and used by gold sellers/botters' threads about this game than any other. Some of the threads are actually quite happy about it as they managed to keep the goods on the character and change their password etc again before the hackers could take it back, even gt free play time.

Anyway my point is this, I remeber a huge number of threads prior to game release about the absolute pointlessness and danger of having GG for hacker prevention. On the whole most people bashed myself and others about this, 'noob' was used very frequently to describe us when we tried to point out the dangers of GG.

OP, I'd wipe the game from my machine and look on the web to clearing ALL of GG before entering account info for anything else.

hello OP, call up NCsoft, few of my members in legion were banned too. they called ncsoft and now they have their accounts back.

there wwas a mess banned( ip address) recently. you might be affected.

Could not have been for botting, NCSoft does not seem to ban any.  I have reported tons and have just given up, they are all still there.  Even thinking they ban for using a bot is a hilarious thought.

Here's a reality check for you:

EVERY-SINGLE-MMO-IN-EXISTENCE has this clause either somewhere in the EULA or ToS. Not a single P2P allows you to actually own your account or character. You're basically renting it from them, with no laws governing what they can and cannot do with your character.

It's a major flaw in the current MMO market. Hell, my landlord has to give me X days notice before kicking me out. But any MMO I pick up and start playing can kill months or years worth of work in a matter of seconds and they don't have to give me a rhyme or reason as to why they did it.

The Hatter is right about this, pretty standard clause game companies use to protect themselves from liability. It seems you got extremely unlucky OP but either you try to get your money bank (contact your CC) or try calling NC and sort this out. Just giving up on the whole issue (i know it can be tempting) will leave you angry. Whatever youve signed in a contract of any sort doesnt mean you gotta take it sitting down.

Can anyone take seriously a guy who writes a 3 page in depth investigational article as his first and only post?

I think my first post was "Me too" in response to someone elses post.

This guy is complaining because he wants to BOT without any consequences at all like in other NCSoft game like Lineage 2. Don't BOT and you won't have to worry about being ban. People who say they get banned for NO REASON AT ALL are liars.

It's nice to see NCSoft actually doing something about botting...even if it is too occasionally.
