Well I thought i'd make this alongside my two other polls.

I'm making these as lately pub threads are rather bad...In my own opinion of course.

Well Professions, Jobs, Tradeskills.  Simple question. Mine is Mining myself. I just like getting a pickaxe and mindlessly bashing rocks, could be better with things like mines being stuck in a cave or so untill run out and don't respawn. Fighting over resources.

More skill than just bashing away, Maybe a click the right spot or break wall/cave minigame? I don't know really.

Favourite Profession?

Firemaking/Cooking
Blacksmithing/Mining
Leatherworking/Skinning
Farming
Enchanting/Inscripting
Carpentry/Construction
Engineering
Tailoring
Fishing

My favorite profession in MMORPGs is slave trader. I love hunting down other players, tie them up and sell them to NPCs for some gold coins.A few more skillpoints and I can hire some NPC mercenaries to work for me and help me capture the players.

Heh, I ran out of room for Bounty Hunting, Pickpocketing, Slave trading and others.

Best profession I ever played was Architect in SWG.  Obviously, I chose "other".  :)

edit:  apparently I am blind as I should have chosen the carpentry/construction option.  Oh well...

I'm going to agree with the above poster in regards to the game.  I opted for construction, because it was the closest available.  But my favorite professions of all time were the Starship Engineer and Droid Engineer from SWG.

Myself i prefer alchemist/herbalist, i like making my own consumables.

Just to make things clear...
I speak for myself and no one else, unless i state otherwise mine is just an opinion. A fact is something that can be independently verified, you may challenge such but with proof. You have every right to disagree with me through sound argument, i believe in constructive debate, but baseless aggression will warrant an unkind response.

Went with Skinning/Leatherworking mostly because it's the one I've used the most/longest.  In WOW:BC it was fantastically balanced.  In WOTLK a little less so (although my gripes with Engineering were much harsher.)

Carpentry/Construction actually interests me, but I haven't played MMORPGs where this is a major part of the game.  Even in Haven & Hearth where the majority of time is spent building/crafting stuff, it doesn't seem like a major part of the action yet.

I may be sorta harsh on EVE, but damn is this a cool trailer (EVE Dominion).

No option for potionsmaster/alchemy! Tisk tisk!

@ Axehilt. Leatherworking was far from balanced in BC. It was undeniably overpowered. Drums alone were the reason. Every last endgame raider went LW for that reason alone.

I'm in ur MMO.
Soloin' ur mobs.

Went for Carpentry/Construction. My most enjoyable experience regarding trade skills in MMOs was as an architect in SWG.

Engineering appeals to me too; (gotta love gadgets).

I'm a fan of Chemist/Alchemist. I enjoy Chemistry in real life, and its especially fun to play with in videogames, either through poisons, potions, or explosives!

*Edited for MMO application*

Anchovy:
No! No! No! You don't understand. I've been a fisher, tailor, miner, fletcher, cook for the last twelve years! I want a new profession. Something exciting that will let me live.

Counsellor:
Well mining is rather exciting isn't it?

Anchovy:
Exciting? No it's not. It's dull. Dull. Dull. My God it's dull, it's so desperately dull and tedious and stuffy and boring and des-per-ate-ly DULL.

Counsellor:
Well, er, yes Mr Anchovy, but you see your report here says that you are an extremely dull person. You see, our experts describe you as an appallingly dull fellow, unimaginative, timid, lacking in initiative, spineless, easily dominated, no sense of humour, tedious company and irrepressibly drab and awful. And whereas in most professions these would be considerable drawbacks, in those professions listed they are a positive boon.

Anchovy:
But don't you see, I came here to find a new profession, a new life, a new meaning to my existence. Can't you help me?

Counsellor:
Well, do you have any idea of what you want to do?

Anchovy:
Yes, yes I have.

Counsellor:
What?

Anchovy:
(boldly) Lion taming!

I like herbs/alchemy.  There is something seriously fun about picking ingredients in game and making something out of them.  Then again I am a biology major...

By the way, kudos on the thread pkmn.  It's one of the more interesting polls I've seen here. (:

Thanks, I wanted a thread that was nice and simple.

Maybe I should have made two threads.. So there's all the options needed.

What?! Killing is not a trade? - Somebody had to ask.

Apart from killing, this architect stuff sounds intriguing. I don't have much experience about these types of games. I'd say enchanting is something that I have done.
