I have experienced many P2P and F2P MMO's and feel I have found some corking games.  I'd like to see what other people have uncovered in the realms of F2P.

My choices -

  1. Runes Of Magic - A game that offers more updates, content and fun than most P2P MMO's on the market.  Graphically superior to every other F2P out there as well as some P2P (WoW especially) - Crafting, Pets, Mounts, Instances, Raids, Guilds, PVP, two races, dual class systems, cash shop items available in game.  There is so much to this game, plus it has a very friendly community.

  2. MegaTen - A game that offers something completely different, I enjoy the Neo Tokyo scenery and the futuristic side to it.  The way you have to convince or force demons to team up with you as 'pets' is an excellent idea and works really well.  Motorcycle mounts coming in the newest update should be excellent.

  3. Pirate Galaxy - Perfect for drop in/drop out fun.  When I've got a spare 30 minutes or so I keep this installed on my PC to have a go on.  Sci Fi Action MMO'ing at it's best in my opinion with optional PvP in game and plenty of planets and galaxies to explore.  Exceptional fun for such a simple idea, the graphics are rather nice too, especially as it can also run simply from your browser.

What does everyone else think?

Playing: Guild Wars

Heh, I started from free to play games to pay to play games, and I still maintain that some of my best gaming experiences actually game from free to play games. It is good to know that the free to play market is still going strong, because I know where to go if I am short of money.

My favourite would have to be Dream of Mirror Online; I loved the community there. Of course, there were still the jerks and the gold spammers, but the majority of the people were really nice. I always ended up getting into parties, and my friends list would be twice as long as the games I play at the moment. I still feel that out of all the games I played, Dream of Mirror Online has the best community, and half the time, I'm always tempted to go back.

Another favourite of mine is Destiny Online. Word of warning though; it is extremely grindy, and more often than not, you'll end up just killing monsters over and over again just so you can gain a level and open up a few quests. You end up grinding 75% of the game, and the rest of the time you'll be quest grinding. But I have to say though, that for some reason, I still did love the game. The people there were rather nice as well (if they spoke in English, that is. Most of the time they spoke in Filipino). My highest level was 40 though... I could never go beyond there.

My third and most recent favourite would be Red Cliff. It is based on Chinese mythology (and I have to admit, I have a major weakness for games with a Chinese setting because I'm Chinese myself). I especially loved the fact that it was mainly merlee fighting, and that there was a huge amount of weapon choices, and most of them were traditional martial arts weapons. I love games like these but... the only thing I didn't like was the community. It was practically non-existant, and I could go a whole half an hour without speaking a word to anyone.

Purple Was Kisu (Ranger/Dervish) - Guild Wars
Erlienne Karr - EVE Online
Canthing (Feca) - Dofus Online

Runes of Magic graphics are well below WoW's even on high settings. Don't get me wrong i love the game and think its great to see a F2p game with real content but sorry its graphics are better than most f2p but would be considered subpar for a p2p

I disagree, I played WoW and was extremely unimpressed with the game, especially the graphics.  The graphics in RoM may just seem so good as they are free and my unhappy memories of playing WoW have clouded my judgement perhaps.  Glad to see another RoM fan out there anyway :)

DDO, but then again I personaly do not feel a MMORPG fibe from it, but enjoying the game nevertheless, oh yes I do group and have allot of fun, also solo which is also allot of fun but it's to combat oriented for me and just lacks that certain MMORPG fibe I want out of games in this genre.

FreeRealms, again I do not consider it a MMO, I also play it mostly solo and the things I play are mostly the mini games.

My current MMORPG is Fallen Earth, now thats a MMORPG to me, unfortunaly not a free game so can't really list it, but I had to have 3, but couldn't say more then the first 2, even though I consider both not to really be MMORPG's. Actually havn't touched the first 2 I mentioned since I got back into FE, I say back, because I have been in CB/OB, at the time I had plenty of games to play in other genre's so I didn't bother getting it on release, but am glad that with the key from mmorpg.com I bought and gonna sub at the end of the trail period as like I said FE gives me that MMORPG fibe I was missing, sure it has issue's, but the fun outweights those issue's ........atleast for now and for me personaly.
