And so I wait...

Need a new game to play.  Tired of the themepark games but I'm open to some of the newer ones (Like Aion) if you can really convince me.

Basically I'm trying to decide between Ryzom and Darkfall.  Which has worse population?  Which has better gameplay?  Which has more to do?  Which has less bugs/more updates?

Other games I've been considering:  Eve (I'm not sure I really like the whole space-all-the-time thing)

Going back to SWG.  (How much has it changed since PreCU?   I also haven't played it in a long long time and I'm looking forward to The Old Republic)

Fallen Earth (Although not really cuz my computer will run like shit with it).

DAoC - Heard a lot of good things just really dated game.

I'm looking for PvP thats more on a freeform sandbox level.  I want player buildings/towns/cities/at least houses.  A decent crafting system wouldn't hurt.  I'm looking for something I can play a few hours a day and not feel like I'm going nowhere.

I'm going to try the Ryzom trial tomorrow, so we'll see how that goes... but until then, any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks

They are such different games and offer such differnt things.

Darkfall is more of a hardcore pvp game. Ryzom has consensual pvp last time I remember.

Ryzom allows you to design your own skills and concentrate on which skills you want to improve. It's crafting is important because player equipment breaks (if I remember correctly as well) and so players need to replace it.

Ryzom is steeped in science fiction.

Someone else will have to go into depth about Darkfall as i have not played it. It is also skill based but beyond that I can't help you.

along with the other  things already mentioned, Ryzom = friendly, helpful, more sociable community. Darkfall being a pvp focused game, a large part of the community is just smack talking kids who login to gank lower levels, but not much sens eof actual community.

If PvP is one of your big must haves, then go with Darkfall. Ryzom has PvP, but it's not as widespread as Darkfall's PvP. Darkfall is all about PvP actually.

Current: Ryzom, DFO
Played: WoW, CoV, SWG, EVE, LotRO, AoC, VG, CO
Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, WAR, EQ2, CoS, FE
Future: Mortal Online, Earthrise, APB

On paper I would say Darkfall, but when last I played,it seemed everyone was using hacks so I raged-quit, so I really can't recommend it.

Hacks are greatly exaggerated by paranoid crybabies who cry cheats everytime they legitly die.

Ryzom is looking rough lately... its dated and doesn't really have a focus. Darkfall has good pvp.

In the end its still apples and oranges though.
