Is this game really that easy? I don't like hearing the world "solo" and "boss" in the same sentence unless it is followed by some combination of: massacre, bloodbath, n00b, or lots of weed. |

Thanks for explaining Maskedweasel. Also, I wasn't referring to the Dreadnaught ability, I was simply using the term to describe how much of a beast my character is in PvP when he is bearing down on a target (reference was in regards to the 20th century battleships of the same name). |

dreadnought-long term ability that reduces speed to increase armor duck and weave-boosts your dodge skill but reduces your rifle/pistol skills as you concentrate on getting away |

Defensive Stance is great, no it is not a poor decision. Check my response above, I explained about Dreadnaught, I wasn't referring to the actual ability :P |

Rallycart, the best part about this game is that you can switch stances, so try out a few different ones and find the one that works for you. For additional speed you may not want to use dreadnaught. If you have other dodge buffs and you want to push it over the top and make a dodge spec, that could be viable too. Stances can be so trivial and easily changed its one of those things you should experiment with. |

I logged in and checked, and the skill is actually called Defensive Fighting. Adds to Dodge and Stamina regen. |

So, Melee in no way is gimp, under powered, or in need of a fix. It is all about how you play it.

Don't sit at range and trade shots with them, run up and clock them in the mellon! Well, this is exactly what I do now, but in the future, when I will have time and mats to level my ballistics crafting, I will love to be able to use my sniper rifle :D Just for fun! See thats a big misconception in the game right now. I had a guy in my clan leveling all 3 weapon skills!! Pick one and max it, you'll never get what you want out of the other weapon, and in the end you'll be wasting AP that could have been used to make a successful build. Actually, I really don't care about max-effecting my character at all. I put points in where I feel like. Of course, I have focus on a few skills and also not putting anything on many other skills, but since I'm doing almost every quest in the game (loving them!), I'll have plenty of AP if not to max out, but bring up my rifle skill to some level as well, while my melee/armor use/dodge skills are maxed out so far. DB Denial makes one look a lot dumber than he/she actually is. |

Yes melee demolishes stuff. Too bad the animations suck a donkey :( I've been moaning about it since day 1 and it's the only complaint I have about FE. There is no flow at all in melee combat everything feels out of place when in 3rd person view and "casting" animations have a priority over the melee hits which is silly too. Oh well, icarus will have to revisit melee animations and combat eventually, they've heard the complaints by now. It doesn't have to be AoC-like cool animations but anything other then what we have now would work.
I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, I really do, just not today. |

Just putting it out there, I'm in a pretty big clan and one thing I get alot of is "my char can't kill this mob, can u help?" And of course I do. When I get into it about their builds i hear they have 2 weapons skills they're working on and no corresponding stats or defense. The problem is, no character can be a catch all character right now. Maybe when they expand the levels and AP missions and people get to 150... but right now, you can't have a crafter/rifleman/melee and expect him to be able to be a shining star in a group. Its best to focus on a class and sub class and roll with it. (for those that are new to the game especially).
Just my 2 cents. |

Thats cool, for someone like you who knows what they're doing its cool, I was posting moreso for people who are still new to the game and expect to do everything with their first char without a planned out build. One of the biggest problems I think in the game right now is the players that don't really understand the system entirely and end up spreading their points too thin and then wonder why they're having such a hard time.

I am pretty much in the same boat as you are DB. I dont want to be a group or clan's shining star. I only have limited gaming time, so I tend to solo for the most part, but will jump in PUGs if I have the time. I just enjoy playing the game, and advancing my character in skills I find important. I dont follow classes/sub classes or build suggestions. If I end up sucking in PvP or in S3 due to it, oh well. I am sure I can find other means to entertain myself in game outside of straight combat. |

ooo Interesting, don't know many LB as main. Most of the clans I've met have been enforcer main. I found it interesting to see a Vista (main)/LB/Chota clan.
Anyways, I'm sure I'll see you on the battlefield one'a these days. :D |

I'm working on a separate Melee combat alt currently, slightly different build from my other, tailored for group tactics specifically in PvP. Zero provided the build, it can be located on the WoWFE Forums. My crafter is also a Wolves member. |

Honestly you seem like the Wolves type of guy. Worked with you guys over the weekend in S2 in new gallows. For the most part a great buncha guys. I might have my melee CHOTA join you guys in a bit, right now the clan my melee CHOTA is in is an enforcer/tech/LB group but I'm part of it because they're some of the coolest guys on the server and I'd like to see their clan grow.
Looks like I'll be seeing you around more then I thought then! |

The first few mmorpgs to come out had this problem...they were complex, things were not served up on a silver platter. You had to explore, constantly reroll character to experiment with builds, you had to think things out a bit, you couldnt just run out and start slaughtering mobs without fucking up something or missing something important. Its become the standard form to select your class and know exactly what to expect 50 or 80 levels later. Today everygame is the same format with diffrent icing on the cake, you know how to play, you read up on the forums and know exactly what to do how to build the character, and most importantly you know how to tab+spam skills. How long has this community cried out for something diffrent? Something with sandbox elements (forget it you sandbox "purist" you all have diffrent definitions for what a sandbox is and apply the one that doesnt fit the game when a sandbox hits the market). Here it is, its diffrent....your not going to log off wow and jump into fallen earth and expect to have everything down first try. If you want auto skills, familiar combat styles, and few player made choices as far as your character goes your going to hate this game. (they actually do have prebuilds in game, you just have to choose it and read up on the class type...oddly given the choice between auto stats and doing it yourself..seems everyone and their mother would rather experement on their own).
I will be making my 3rd "im a noob" rerolls today....theres tons of starter areas, lots of options on how to start and what to accomplish at the beginning, to me thats kinda fun......been a while since ive played a game where you could fuck up your character and need to reroll for that perfict build.....i suggest new players who are subscribing try this, get a character or two to level 10 and start fresh...mail your new alt all your goodies and try out a few of the starter areas. This is what happens the more sandbox a game gets imo. i really think a lot of players want a sandbox just because, when they get wrist deep in it, they realize all they really wanted was an uber trip to engame pvp and none of the experimentation that comes with a sandbox. |

I'm the same as DB I don't give a flying f**k about being the best of the best of the best. I play to relax and enjoy the setting of FE - which is just perfect for a lonewolf survival kind of immersion. My character, Brayson, has his own story and I'm sure I'm well on the way to a build that isn't viable in PvP - he's a pistoleer but I keep putting AP into melee stats/skills too. The point is it's his story and if he makes a lot of bad choices then that's just part of exploring the game. I thought the previous post was spot on - the freedom to make mistakes with builds is one of the things that makes the game more interesting and one of the reasons why FE works for me.
I also agree that replayability is a strength of FE. I can see myself making another character. This is good, means I'm even less worried about somehow screwing up the AP allocation with Brayson. For those further along than me, is it possible to do this so badly that even PvE becomes annoyingly difficult??

Well the monsters have resistances as well. Your mob might have had a high ac to whatever you were using. Slashing, blunt, peircing, poison etc etc. Sometimes boss mobs are nastier then what you expect. Black breeders from Spider Hill are notorious for pwning solo's. |
