Stormwind and Ironforge in Wow are both beautiful.  I switched to Horde early on in my WoW playing.  Can't say I'm such a big fan of the Horde cities.

None.

They are always dead and feel really static and until someone makes a city like GTA 4's in an mmorpg then they'll continue to feel this way. Mmorpgs need physics aswel like the ability to push trash cans and stuff around which could reset every time the server goes down but seeing the city change abit even from these simple things helps.

I think SWG did the most for cities in mmorpgs where you could build your own seamlessly and they constantly evolved, however they needed more features like gardens and the ability to put your own art into the game. SWG on the whole though had alot of potential that was never realised because the developers were too busy screwing it up with Jedi and then trying to fix it. I also liked some atmosphere effects in the cities like the ships flying above and the droids going about their business.

World of Warcraft's the the most beautiful because of the art style and while I love some things in EQ2's main cities, they're very inconsistent, like there are some beautiful moments but then you see rushed areas in typical SOE fashion and the constant loading between gates and stuff pisses me off.. also the cities are dead in EQ2 which is a shame because in beta they were alive and nice.

I still vote for none though because they've all felt pretty lifeless.

I'd have to agree that this was probably the best looking city in any game I've seen.  I saw it and was excited, but let down once the game turned out to be garbage.

I always thought that Guild Wars had the best atmosphere of any game, it's just so beautiful and simple, Pre-Searing of Guild Wars is my choise.

Although I loved Eisley, I'm going to also have to go with Theed.

When I think of all the good times I've had in MMOs, there are certainly contenders in EQ, WoW, DAOC, WAR and some others, but Theed was just simply amazing.

I would have to go with Tos from Meridian 59.

I can honestly say that was the worst city I've ever come across. Specially the main entrance it was like walking down something from the 90's where you had giant corridors of nothing but just the same texture over and over again. Just so generic and had no soul to it whats so ever and I dunno the whole thing just felt dead, such poor ugly textures. The worst part though is it's instanced from the rest of the world :\ I can never find a picture of the firts part of that city when you come into the entrance, I wonder why.....

I'd definatly say the first time one walks into Stormwind is very impressive, with the large stone statues and all. However on a different note I would say the city I most hoped would be great was of course in the Matrix Online. Too bad it turned out as it did   :-(

Tir Na Nog (DAOC - Hib) for old school city design.  For it's time it was well done and will always have a special place for me.

Stormwind (WoW - Human) was cool and the music was epic.  I will never forget the first time I raided it :)

Undersity (WoW - Forsaken) had some of the best artwork and I was always a sucker for the undead from Warcraft 3

Rivendale (LOTRO - Elves) OMG It is beautiful. Nothing else I can say there.

Britania (Ultima Online) Again, always has a special place for me.

Did not play EQ and never saw Dalaran.  Quit WoW well before Lich King

1) Rivendell  (LotRO)- I remember coming over the hill the first time and laying eyes on the city.  Nestled in the valley, it is the prettiest city I've seen in any MMO.

2) Bree (LotRO)- I added this to the list just because of the community that keeps this city alive.  In most cities in MMO's, people go in sell, grab a quest and leave.  People tend to "hangout" in Bree.  You'll see small bands (or even just one person) playing their instruments in the streets to a crowd of people.  The crafting hall is usually packed with people.  I just love the feel of community in this city.

3) Millennium City (CO)-  The city is so massive and quite nice.  Although, I'm not a fan of the game, this city is very well laid out with a central hub.  You can also see part of the city that it was built upon (old Detroit).

It's gotta be WoW's Dalaran.

I like that it's compact; it's always bustling with players from both factions. I love that I can easily hop into a portal to a half-dozen different locations. I play on an RP server, and Dalaran is the central RP location, so I spend a lot of time there.

Has to be Altdorf for me. There was just something under it all that made it really seem alive.

Really? I love FFXI but I thought Sandy was soooo boring and empty. The only charming city in that game was windurst.

I was going to say the main city from Champions, but then I thought that really was more of a map, or a zone rather than a city.

Layout wise, Stormwind from WoW. Everything was close together and easy to find.

As for NPC life, the Empire's main city from WAR. Again, don't care for the game, but the city is great. It's big, there's slums, palaces, docks, taverns, multiple auctioneers, a guild hall thing, statues of accomplished players, a college where lava flows through every, dungeons, and to top it all off, a drunk guy in the bar goes ape sometimes and offs players in one or two hits.

Visual stunning goes to Rivendell from LOTRO, becasue it is simply beautiful.

Player life goes to Bree, it's cool to see people just hanging in a tavern and actually not roleplaying, just talking about stuff, or bands playing in different spots.

I have yet to see a city that combines all of these things though.

When they were full I'll go with these.

Neocron - Felt alive when it was full of players wandering around.

Mos' in SWG was pretty nice when full of players

Stormwind was pretty but it felt empty most of the time. However, when it was full of players, it was totally a nice city to hang out at.

UC from WoW (for ease of access) Rivendale from LOTRO for design, and the Inevitable City from WAR for sheer wtf-ness
