I would like to see MMORPG's that are non-competition based and are about a nice community. |

Sounds just like EVE, tbh. It's not a whole game about PVP, there is a huge sub-culture of Mission Runners and a pretty big one at that. You still have to look out for PVPers sometimes, but they mostly stay far away from it. There is also, A Tale in the Desert and Wurm. Check those out.

I'm not really talking about current games out there right now :) ( Except Vanilla Everquest ) |

Originally posted by SunLightLove I would suggest what last poster said, Wurm Online or A Tale In The Desert. Both great cooperative games where levels aren't who you are, but an addition do things faster. A person with a maxed out still in wurm (no, nobody probably have a maxed out skill yet) could easily play with a person who has a new account. |

Why games in the future and not games now? What you're wanting is a game with the success of Everquest, EQ2, WoW, etc.... the big players in the MMO. But, the type of game you're wanting to see if probably, by far, the absolute smallest niche in the gaming industry as a whole.... forget about just MMOs, which anything besides WoW is pretty much a small niche market when it comes to worldwide game sales.
People LOVE competition. If they didn't, video games wouldn't exist, Soccer wouldn't exist, Football wouldn't exist, hell the Roman empire and pretty much 99.99999999999999% of everything we know today wouldn't exist.
Not blaming you for wanting something, but what you're REALLY wanting isn't even slightly realistic. (a big high budget well polished "Non-competative, community centric MMORPG" with tons of players)

I'm thinking maybe HKO is for the OP. "This is the most intelligent, well qualified and articulate response to a post I have ever seen on these forums. It's a shame most people here won't have the attention span to read past the second line." - Anon EVE Cult member since May 2007 Regarding EVE: "To be honest, I think God himself created this game." - Shek Regarding new players in EVE: "Think of yourself as a child released into a park full of pedophiles..." - Eleazaros |

Can someone clarify what non-competitive means? Is this like there are no goals only a few can reach? Or no reason to try harder than the guy next to you? Or is it simply code for a carebear non-PvP game? Cuz there are plenty of those... Yea, i agree with games that hold strong comunities but im not sure what non-competitive stands for in this context, specially since competition is kinda like important in a game... Smurfs Online? Just to make things clear... |

Yours is not the path of force, though force is often needed to clear the path. |
i know you said in the future but maybe second life would be something you are looking for lol anyways as for future games, hmm...i dont' really think there are any, hell their is the upcoming lego universe but its prolly not what you are looking for... We are all ignorant until truth is revealed to us.. However.. How do we know the truth is not in fact a lie.. "When a man has lost everything, he may despair and die. He might give his soul to the fate's... or, he can resolve to take action." "The great thing about human language is that it prevents us from sticking to the matter at hand." |

A Tale In The Desert has almost no competitive mechanics, far as I'm aware. As I understood, it had some rather significantly massive cooperative crafting things you ended up doing. If I remember correctly, the game actually ends when the community as a whole manages to complete some ridiculously elaborate task (which I think was building a pyramid...or multiple pyramids?) That's why it's called ATITD 4 currently, because they're on the 4th "story" of it (although it's also called #4 because of the significant strides in tech they've made since the initial release.) It's one of the better crafting-centric games, imo. But I couldn't really justify 15/mo. Still, 24 hours of gameplay in the trial. Definitely check it out. I may be sorta harsh on EVE, but damn is this a cool trailer (EVE Dominion). |

Competition will always be there in some form or another. Community comes from the freedom and tools to make one. Or an unfinished game still lacking the artificial restrictions:) |
