Dear WoW, I still remember the day we first met. David introduced us and I was smitten right from the start! You were so cutting edge and brilliant, unlike anything I’d ever experienced before. You kept me up late so many nights, and I was always breathless for more. I couldn’t get enough of you! Discovering each new part of your world was an awakening! There were so many things to see and learn with you! You took me from the hapless inexperienced noob I was, and turned me into seasoned sexy gamer I am today. I will never forget those long nights in the barrens, or my very first time instancing in Wailing Caverns. I was so determined to raid! Around level 45 things became painfully slow. I never thought I would earn enough gold for my first mount, logging in became a painful experience. I never meant to cheat on you, but the Sims 2 was so fascinating and different, I couldn’t help myself! I knew it was just a phase, but we needed a break. And in the end I think we were better for it. You and I experienced new fervor, and though I never got to truly raid in vanilla wow, you and I still had the best of times! When Burning Crusades came out it was the honeymoon phase all over again, and I was so excited I even started a new toon! We had so much fun in Kara! Remember the hunters misdirecting to the rogues for a laugh, and how I cried when I finally got my tier helm? I was so in love with you back then. You were everything I dreamed a game could be. And then things became rough. I’d experienced everything about you, and there was nothing left but the daily grind. Our relationship became stale. I’d visit you from time to time, but mostly you just made me sad. I wanted to love you again like I did when we first met, but your graphics weren’t as shiny anymore, and the world was so predictable. I’d maxed out all of my skills, even fishing! You tried to bring the excitement back to our relationship with a new expansion, but even Wrath of the Lich King wasn’t enough to rekindle our romance for very long. I know you worked so hard to change, and many of those changes were good, but it was too little too late. You set the standard for me, you are the MMO I compare all others to. You taught me to dream big, and so my expectations have outgrown even you, the one who started it all. I’m so glad you were my first! But we’ve become stuck in a rut, you and I. And I can’t be a part of it any longer. In short, WoW, it’s not you, it’s me…I’ve changed, and my expectations have grown. You can’t buy me off with a new class or a new race and some new dungeons anymore, I’m sorry. Dragon Age has invited me over for dinner, and I admit his good looks make my heart skip a beat. I know he’s not an MMO, but a change will be good for me. I know you’ll come to woo me with a new expansion, and knowing me I’ll be tempted to fall for your predictable charms all over again. But we can’t keep doing the same thing over and over and expect different results. I want a single shard game WoW, I want infinite character customization, and a sandbox experience based on more than the next tier of armor! Promise me you won’t be sad… We’ll always have raiding Darkshore, and pvp in Stranglethorn Vale! I wish you only the best in your future. You are a permanent fixture in my heart and my memories! Love, Angelicremix |

Just a matter of opinion. If it wasn't for the 2 expansions, I would not be playing WoW at all. I was only able to last 2 months in vanilla WoW. And about the rep grinds, my main character is not even revered with 90% of factions because I never grind rep. I never play Arena, I never play BattleGrounds, yet I still enjoy the game maybe because you can enjoy this game by choosing to avoid the grind. Well, it doesn't matter, everyone has his/her own preferences. WTB Shadowbane 2 |

I'm glad you dumped that loser. He wasn't good for you and kept bringing you down. You began to seclude yourself away from the rest of us and we often wondered why you refused to come out anymore. One can only hope you don't make the same mistake...
Your friends at the MMORPG.com community. Once upon a midnight dreary, while I porn surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of 'hot xxx galore'. While I clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", I muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, "404." |

good read. Just to make things clear... |

Dragon Age won't be able to satisfy you. You'll go crawling back, begging forgiveness. You'll see. |

Classic for the hardcore, TBC and onwards for noobs and worse. And in the spirit of the OP: ~ Dire Maul Tribute 4ever ~ World of Warcraft is a proof that MMORPG quality should affect schedule/budget and not the other way around. |

I trust Game Informer's review more than the trailer. I loved both Baldur's Gate and NWN. The only thing that makes me a little nervous is lack of in game combat videos. But I'm fairly confident in Bioware's ability to make a decent title. |

OP: Nicely written. Come back in 5 years and let's see if you can hold it out for 5 years in any other PC game :)
As for Dragon Age: it must be fantastic being the Hero between all those NPC's which are as life like as potatoes. This must be like feeling the super potato between all those other ptatoes.... |

Your post was funny to read. The part I quoted was where I said "yes!" Add to that a skill (not class) based game and I'm up for it, as long as it doesn't look and run like complete crap. //|//|// |

Did anyone here not totally fall in love with their first game and mmorpg? :-) Mine was planetside and swg <3 |

Bravo! A very nice read! If only studios these days had your creative point of view, and playful journalistic approach! Bravo! |

Originally posted by Angelicremix Baldur's Gate and NWN 1/2 were not released for the consoles. Just saying be careful, because PC games tend to get dumbed down when they are being released for consoles. As an FPS fan, I stay away from dumbed down FPS games released for consoles. Great example: F.E.A.R and the new FEAR 2 ... First one is a great PC game, and 2nd is a Haloesque piece of crap. FPS is the simplest genre to remake on console too, so imagine some of the features that might be missing from Dragon's Age because its also released on consoles. On the other hand, I absolutely LOVED KOTOR on xbox and controlls were good. KOTOR 2 I played on PC and controlls were better. In any case, I learned to buy games after they are released for few weeks for some decent, un-hyped reviews. WTB Shadowbane 2 |

I know some people will call me a troll or a hater or whatever... But wow....come on....wow.....I just can't believe where people are nowadays....A game is a game, it is fine to come here and comment on something or get some info about the upcoming games or whatever but...wow...........I'm almost speechless.... But taking the time to write a love letter about a game...I know you are trying to be cute and humorous....but.....just that you thought about doing this means WoW has become an important value in your life, and that is bad... People like you should know that games are just something you play when you have a couple of hours in your week to fill. They should not be a lifestyle, they should not be something important to you... All I can say is go out, enjoy life, live... Man I can't believe where we are in our society today... |

You take a tongue in cheek 'Dear John' letter far too seriously my friend! I wanted to show my love and respect for a game that I used to really enjoy. My own cheeky way of saying goodbye! And to be fair, my WoW account has lasted longer than any of my relationships (the longest being three years), so I think it's reasonable that the game gets a personalized letter. Games are important to me, they are a part of my identity, something I am proud of. Games are a big part of how I enjoy life and live it. This hasn't stopped me from obtaining a Master's Degree in Biology, or from owning a house, or enjoying the company of my family and friends. So don't look down your nose at me and 'tsk tsk', I am not in need of your sympathy. I'm very happy with where I am in life. Everyone should be so lucky! |

Angel, your enthusiasm and charisma had me at 'Dear John'. (=P hopefully one can see the irony here!) |
