I'm not a very demanding MMO gamer. I've enjoyed EQ, EQII, AO, WoW, AoC, WaR, etc.
It just seems like Aion is missing something though. A soul perhaps? I'm just not having fun. I've grinded my way to 27 hoping maybe the abyss would cure my woes. But alas, no such luck. Anyone else have this feeling towards Aion? |

I think its fun lvl 35 and still going!!!! |

I have exactly the same feeling. Level 25 myself. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful game, with a good background and good mechanics, but I just feel it lacks that...soul. I get the same feeling from all new MMOs. :( |

Yes, basically. It might make the existing features better, but in the core it's still the same thing as before. |

If you are not enjoying it at lvl 27 I would consider cancelling the subscription and going to another game. If you do not like massive scale RvR or lvl grinding this is not the game for you. There are plenty of other mmorpg out there, so simply look at another game, out of the games you list as having played most have or are about to patch in new content or release and expansion over the next 6 months, so can simply play there for enjoyment or try some of the solo RPG games that have come out/are coming out. Aion is not the next EQ/WoW so can safely pass on it and wait for the next big thing in mmo to come along, whatever that may be. |

I dont play AoC any more, but it would be my best pick out of the 3 in between Aion and War. Aion would might be a little more fun if they woud change some the buff and pot timers. Wars graphics and lag spikes turn me against it almost from the get go. |

As far as I'm concerned It has much more of a "soul" than AoC and WAR put together. You get the feeling the game feels just right, everything from the graphics, animations, music, combat, busy cities etc. it all fits. I feel like my char is relevant in the game. Never got this feeling while playing AoC or WAR. If and that's a big IF NCsoft gets rid of the bots and crashes I can see myself playing the game for a long time. |

I guess the lack of "soul" comes from that the game is so extremly generic... (both in gameplay and in lore/world) If WoW = The Beatles |

Aion is a pretty game the animations are nice The lore/history isn't too bad
apart from a few areas where flight is enabled it doesnt bring anything to the genre that hasnt been seen before combat is still just mindless button mashing, spells are still done with mindless button mashing
good games are usually defined by thier communities, and aion hasnt really had chance to develop one yet my major gripes:- for the most part /3 group requests look like they have been posted by an illiterate 7yr old people who dont understand group play |

I dont like these: Ganking of lower level players. there needs to be a level cap on Abyss points from kills. If your 3-5 lvls above the other player you get no Abyss points. I know about the pvp Abyss areas, but still do that or give me a way to turn off my pvp. Farmers..... OMG there bad in this game.... and all the ppl spaming websites, big turn off.
This is my last month to play this game. Man i wish WAR was not nerfed...... |

Originally posted by Jonolinb It's missing originality, depth of play, interesting quests, a decent levelling system, a range of starting zones with alternate quests and it totally lacks freedom of movement because the zones are laid out like railway tracks. It's a straight copy/paste of all the drab little features we've seen for years, with some eye candy borrowed from a graphics system someone else came up with to interest the rubes. It's so simplistic that even with quests a 5 year-old could finish, they include a "Dimwit Mode" system that actually points you right where you should be - and even then, some of the players are incapable of sufficient thought as to do the quests without broadcasting pleas for help. In two weeks you can hit lvl 50 - and we thought WoW was easy! All it lacks for the truly incompetent is a big "I Win" button, and give them enough time... |

Had same problem as you, picked up fallen earth and having a blast. I may head back at some point but as for now its too much of the same. But still a good game just not what im looking for atm. The following statement is false |

I agree that it does feel very shallow, souless is a good word. From my experience Warhammer and AoC both had much more character to the games. At least your character in Aion looks good though. |

Yes I have the same feeling about Aion. I really don't know exactly what it means a "soul" for an MMO, but Aion doesn't have it. It's just a bunch of stuff put together and in not a very good way. |
