The lore video series continues over at GameSpot with the release of The Future Past: Part 2. The video starts out catching up viewers with the events highlighted in part one, and then fills in the rest of the gaps that lead to the war between the Federation and the Klingon in the year 2409, which is when Star Trek Online will take place.

It has also been revealed that the Klingon, Gorn, Nausicaan, and Orion races will all be part of the Klingon faction.

Watch the video here.

Looked "ok". I really would like to make it my second MMO along with FE but I'm not so sure Cryptic isn't going to leave item malls out of this one. I'll have to wait a month or two after launch and see how it's going. Of course, having to wait until after launch and not being able to start from the beginning is a turn off for me, so I'll likely end up skipping it entirely.

Asheron's Call. The one open world, classless progression, live team content oriented game that ALL game sites and developers show little respect for as a template to pattern future MMOs after.

They definitely need better marketing. If these videos were meant to create hype.... they failed IMO. This is pathetic compared to the inciteful and entertaining videos Bioware puts out.

If you are going to compare this to Bioware then no, it doesn't compare. However when you compare it to most mmorpgs like Aion, AoC, WAR then these developer/video segments are not too shabby.  As a Star Trek fan (who isnt planning on playing the game), I find the story very interesting and compelling and they are really setting the stage for their game.

Will it be good? Who knows. Seems to be rushing it a bit.  Regardless, I've enjoyed these videos quite a bit.

I have really enjoyed these videos/ How ofter do you really get a detailed look at a games backstory. And to boot you are getting glimpses at prebeta footage which means things will only look better.

Pretty cool. This game could have some awesome PvPvE. Too bad Cryptic are incapable of doing good PvP (CoX and Champions Online PvP is worst in MMORPG history).

Who is John Galt?

I like what they're doing to explain what's been happening to get to where they're going to be when the game starts, but I think they could do better.

Look at what TOR is doing. They have a professional actor narrating their scripts to explain what's happened in the universe to get you where you are when the game starts. I think STO could take a page out of Bioware's book for that idea.
