...what would it be? Let me explain what I mean a little bit. You are able, whether it be magical powers or whatever the hell, to completely wipe a single MMO off the face of the Earth. Every backup: gone. Every installation CD: smashed. Every server: melted. There is NOTHING remaining of this MMO, and if they wanted it to be released again it would have to be built from the ground up. Oh, to make it even easier (so no one can say "I'd destroy this one then release it myself to be rich RICH RICH!") the government has put a law out that says the game can not be rereleased... punishable by death. I know that I'm making it sound ridiculous, and it is. I think it'll be a fun experiment to see what people come up with, though. You have to post your reasons behind doing so.
Other than that, I don't think there is anything else I need to say.
For my pick: Final Fantasy XI. The game isn't even fun anymore, most people are just simply addicted to it. They have these characters that they never want to leave because they put so much time into them, that they aren't trying out any other MMOs. This, in turn, creates an entire playerbase of elitists. The January 22nd bannings did a good job, but we need to go one step further! I love the game, though. However, I've had enough of it! BURN THEM ALL! -Computer specs no one cares about: check. -MMOs played no one cares about: check. -Xfire stats no one cares about: check. -Signature no one cares about: check. ------------------------------------------------------------ |

None. I may dislike several MMOs, but I wouldn't want to destroy any of them. Current: None |

I'd destroy all of them, even the ones being made. It'd be interesting to see what was born of the ashes. |

Darkfall Would love to see Tasos cry about his livelihood again would be classic reading. Maybe he'll go on utube and post a video of it too...one can only hope. Nah actually I take that back.....i'd rather see him get fired and put a new spoksperson in there that knows what thier doing.... (AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH leaves as tired of beating up Tasos) The ONLY opinion that matters if I like or dislike about a game is mine and mine alone. Playing: SWTOR and World of Tanks. |

Well first up your reasoning behind FFXI,is not a game problem that is a people problem, exactly what i see in every MMO is a people problem. The more people stop supporting weak efforts developers will have to start listening. How players play games is just ridiculous,i have no idea why developers even bother when so many just think MMORPG gaming is some speed finish to end game. OK that little side story is done,i actually have a VERY good reason for my selection. It is sort of a 2 part but leads to the same conclusion. First of all the game i would bury is Lineage/Lineage 2.The reason is that i feel it is the one game that gave Korean gaming a reason to show it's face to the North American public. If that game was never created,we may very well have not experienced the massive garbage we see being released today out of the Korean market. At the same time ,i feel that game is what helped bring the F2P idea here that much faster.Without that game, the Korean market would have taken much longer to hit mainstream here, therefor that scheme would have taken longer to hit NA. There is one other game that created a lot of hype pre Lineage and that is MU online,it created a lot of this RMT activity we see in games today. There was not so many NA's playing MU,but there was a lot of Euros playing it ,so that Korean type of gaming and RMT influence was already showing it's face to half the world,it was Lineage that completed the cycle. There theme for gaming is VERY simplistic and their map design is very simplistic. All that matters in their games is speed of leveling and RMT influence to achieve that simplistic goal for MMORPG gaming. The emphasis on story and mechanics at the time was much different here in NA,we had rpg single players games defining the RPG qualities. No matter witch game it was ,you basically had the same premise ,create a well balanced PARTY to enter the dungeon. Be it Wizardry[Ninja/Fighter/Cleric/Priest/Wizard/Mage/Thief/] or be it Might and Magic again a Fighter/Healer/Mage]the same premise build a well rounded PARTY.You can take Ultima Online,or Phantasy Star or later versions of Baldurs gate,it was always the same ,build a well balanced PARTY.I think yo usee the growing trend on >PARTY.What do Korean games do?Emphasis on SOLO,totally removing the template for RPG games. This is just basic game play i am not getting into how Korean games do mapping on such an amateur level. If you actually understand mapping you will know what i am talking about.NA games tend to show detail in mapping where as Korean games take the simpler route and create cheap mapping but emphasize the gear/weapons.There emphasis early on and still to this day was using a cheap method of adding a glowing texture hue to gear.Basically to make a long story short, they choose the fastest easiest method of producing a game. So i would bury MU online to keep the Euros from that terrible influence and Lineage from the NA public.Yep you heard it here first, don't blame Canada blame the Korean gaming industry. :D http://www.youtube.com/user/Napolianboo#p/u/15/rCYLLQCNc1w |

Gaion. There's no reason why such a risk-free type-A grind game should be making so much money. It encourages devs to make mindnumbing crap just like WoW inspired. If everybody buys n-synch albums, you see more nsycnch-ish bands. Its the same reason 99% games after the billionaire WoW were nut encrusted feces. ------------------------- |

Have you ever had something cool that suddenly turns uncool, and even if it has a certain market value you rather destroy it than having someone else ruin it? that would be tibia for me When i joined tibia about 1 year ago it was still an awesome game, yes there were already a lot of flaws, but we were somehow able to make up for them Then came CIP and started destroying our freedom, soon enough they started dictating what we could hunt and for how long, what should we do and what not, destroyed features people loved like the unique PvP system and replaced them with features people either hates or does not care about like the green text loot that covers your screen and blocks your visibility I would rather have tibia dead and buried than watching CIP further ruin the game on their twisted vision of what a perfect game is, their reasoning is "we're smart, you're stupid, we know what you want, you don't know what you want, we know what's best for the game, even if you're the one who plays it" So for that reason i would rather have tibia dead and buried for once instead of watching it die slowly Haikus are easy |

I want AIon to be dead and gone. It is the biggest example of a WoW clone that I have played. Absolutely nothing new there. You have wings, big deal. Half the time you can only glide anyways, so what is the point? I don't care if it becomes the most successful mmo out there, it needs to die. Mr. Bagguns |

Going to be intresting on how many games post wow make this list vs pre wow games, tho the OP picked my all time favorite game to destroy, ffxi ( a pre-wow game).... He will probably get his wish when ffxiv releases. Waiting for: FFXIV V2.0, ArcheAge,GW II |

Easy. WoW. Only I'd go back in time and destroy it as a concept so its cancerous effect on post-WoW MMORPG's wouldn't have happened. WoW is the reason all new PvE-centric MMO's are too easy, period. It also put the silly and cutesy into MMO graphics. I can't stand the sight of it. One ten-minute look at the world and my Free Trial ended. What a silly kid's game. Blizzard wants anybody to be able to play it, so they dumb it down for kids and those with a marginal grasp of gaming skills and PC operation. They make them easy/zergy and quick to level because kids today haven't the patience for Epic quests and slow leveling because they require that everything be handed to them by their mommies and daddies and easy games or they QQ. Then there's those with alleged "lives" who complain they don't have enough time to level. Sure they do, they just don't have the patience. It's not like the world disappears when they log off. The server will be up years from now. What? You can only play for an hour a night? Oh, well. I guess you'll be leveling slowly. That's how it should be. But no, the rest of us have our game dumbed down so you won't whine about not being at the cap after playing an hour a night for a couple of months. |

SWG......nuke it and p*ss on it. SWG is simply an empty shell, a shadow of its former glory before Smed twisted it into a mochery and a sick joke. I think the worst thing was when Smed admitted he screwed up with the NGE in an interview (google it, a ton of sites have the interview) and still allows SWG to limp on. Here is to hoping BioWare will bring back Star Wars to the MMO community and give it the proper direction it deserves. |
