I went away to Europe/Africa for 3 weeks and aside from buying a big super-sized cup of coffee, eating a big fat juicy steak, I wanted to get back into the world of Fallen Earth to see if anything has changed. Most of the time I was cut-off from the world. Especially in Africa. With only my iPhone to browse the web, and most hostels I stayed at made you pay for internet... I had very little exposure to what was going on in the game. So, what do I find when I return?
First off.. I didn't even bother going to the website or checking in at good ole MMORPG... I get right to the nitty gritty. I log in, and am hit with a pretty big sized update. I expected this.. however... I did NOT expect some 10-12 pages of bug fixes, improvements, and just good old lovin! Wow! In all my MMO years I can't ever recall so much bug squashing and improvement in a single patch! Do the developers sleep??!! I suppose you could take this as a glass is half empty or half full. Why so many bugs? or.... Holy sh*t they work hard on my new favorite MMO!! My favorite feature (it's not easy to pick) added into the game has to be the ability to turn up the ranged texture setting. I have a beast of a PC that can handle most anything you can throw at it. When I turned up the texture range to VERY HIGH I was soooo happy to see that graphics from a distance were popping up faster, and looked much better! I could no longer find those buggy nodes that would show up on the map, but I wouldn't be able to take them from the ground! Woot! The game felt a bit more smooth and seemed to run a bit better than it used to. BUT My biggest gripe was crashing in high-population towns. Especially in the evening hours. So... I headed into town and flew as fast as I could pass the many crowds of players.... did I crash? Did I lag to death? NO! I didn't crash!! Whooohooo!! But, I did have lag issues. I have to admit I'm using my tethered iPhone for the internet connection... latency over an iPhone is kinda bad.. so I won't attack the devs on this point and I find it hard to be upset with so many improvements and fixes. So, the point here is this.... If you are on the fence and not sure you want to invest the time or money... consider the latest patch notes (can be found in the forum) and realize, they are working around the clock and the game is indeed improving in leeps and bounds! Time to buy? I'd say... yes.. but the call is up to you! |

3 weeks, what do you expect? if developers from a relatively new game don't fix a huge amount of bugs in the first 3 weeks you know thats the devs are lazy...

Originally posted by vladakov Yeah, because we all know how quick Funcom and Mythic were at fixing bugs when it came to their multi-million dollar titles... I think the main point here is that it's impressive that a company with far less resources than the other two mentioned, and a much smaller staff of developers, is able to fix bugs at a comparable rate, if not faster.

To Hyopdermica, First of all, welcome back! I can understand the craving for certain types of food as well. Now go get a Pizza and a case of your favorite alcohol. Anyways the folks at FE have been very busy as of late and great things are on the horizon for FE players. Heres the however though.. Apparently weekends (esp. Sundays), servers get pretty unstable. I have seen servers go down as of late. Sometimes a few minutes or a few hours. Other than that, the game still has a few hiccups, but it isn't game breaking and worth crying about. There are also a couple of Player Events coming in the month of November as well by certain Clans in the game. globaltechatlas.forumotion.net/index.htm And ake sure you get onto that Halloween Event this weekend and check whats in store for us FE players. www.massively.com/2009/10/28/gamex-2009-massively-talks-with-lee-hammock-on-whats-next-for/ Welcome back to the Wasteland!

Hey hey! Thanks for the update/info and the warm welcome back! Still at good ole level 11 on my big bad tank! Look me up some time, the name is "Tatonka". My goal is to tank raids (PVE or PVP) in the future. My build is pure tank (so far) and ZERO tradeskilling. ;)

ooo thats a good build, and thats how I'm building my character right now. While you're out and about though, level those scavenging skills! I don't know how many times I've been out and saw a car or something and was kicking myself that I wasn't high enough to scavenge it. |

What level are you at with your tank? Have any build advice? Seems like a "wild-west show" out there when it comes to builds. (Pun intended). Ah yes, scavenging I am doing. Failed to mention that. :P |

Actually its a horrible build, and is really only useful for 1v1 PVP. In squad based situations, he will be annihilated quickly, because he will not have the opportunity to close the distance against any skilled players. He will be shot to death well before making it close enough to engage. Considering how rare 1v1s are anywhere past S2, I don't see it as being a very viable build at all. Plenty of documentation and available video evidence that shows this time and time again. Do some research and enlighten yourselves.

Actually I've seen it work crazy good in a 3 vs 4. 3 man team was a tank and pistol and rifle, vs a pistol, pistol/melee hybrid and 2 rifles. 3 man team with a pure melee won with 0 casualties and it was obvious thier pure melee was an advantage thier team had and we did not. |

Are you kidding me? closing the gap is not hard to do, only time I've ever had a problem would be a sniper where I can't find where the shots are coming from. Overall melee builds are just as viable in PvP with the right mutations. |

Well, at level 11 I can't say a thing about end-game PVP. What I've always wanted to see for a pure tank-class in PVP is a way to force opponent(s) to shoot/hit just the tank. Tanks can pull and hold aggro, take massive damage in PVE but why can't we force PVPer's to only hit us? To me, a tank is a big, fat, armor wearing, moron who can just piss people off and laugh while litte a-holes shoot at and beat on him. Sure, he has weaknesses.. maybe he moves slowly, doesn't do much damage in comparison, and maybe his healing skills are next to none but he can can piss people off, keep the aggro on himself and take hits like you wouldn't believe. So, where is the aggro-pulling/taunting in PVP? Why can't I force a group of enemies to target only me for.. 10 seconds with a 20 second cooldown? Bad idea? Good idea? Tanks aren't much for tanking if they can't keep the damage on them in PVP.... |

On the contrary though my friend, get a rifleman next to you as a melee and see who thinks who is overpowered. I don't know how many times I came up on a rifleman and absolutely demolished him. He can stun and run -- if I don't get to him first! Just remember to get emp mutations and you're good to go. |
