I am starting to get on an indie game spree and I am looking for a couple good ones. I have already played / beaten ~Trine ~World of Goo ~Osmos I was planning on buying Machinarium and Eufloria as well. Have any of you tried these and liked them? |

Maybe if I'm going to have my Xfire profile up, I should start using Xfire... |
Machinarium is a good 6 hour play. It can be frustrating, but there's always a walkthrough in-game if you get stuck. It's not too detailed, mind you, and if you have to leave the room for a step, you have to go to the other room's walkthrough and then try and piece them together. Not to mention, the minigame you have to play to open the walkthrough each time is a pain in the ass and kinda boring after a while. Creative, nonetheless. If for nothing else, the walkthrough is really cool to look at. =D Other than that, the game itself is amazing and the solutions to some of the puzzles are downright genius. Eufloria is a fun game too. It's a half slow-paced, half fast-paced, simple, ambient, relaxing real-time strategy game in the same vein as Galcon but is much more in depth, that has you fighting the "gray sickness" and other empires in the campaign mode. The campaign is all I've played yet and I'm not far, so my opinion doesn't count quite as much, but the beginning of each level can be a long wait to get your Dyson Trees built and your seedlings grown so that you can fight the enemies. During the first few levels, you can just pound the opponent with masses of enemies, but after that you have to start thinking strategically, as the enemy will hit you first sometimes and, as each of the asteroids gives the units created there different stats, you have to start learning which go up against which the best. Apparently dark matter mode is much more difficult. If you haven't yet, I'd also look into Mount and Blade and Lugaru, which are both on Direct2Drive as well as Lugaru's sequel, Overgrowth, which you can find at http://www.wolfire.com/ I've personally played through Lugaru and it's great fun and through debug mode, Wolfire community members have created their own levels and even their own campaigns to replace the original. It's pretty much a brawler, but it's a good brawler, nonetheless. Mount and Blade I'm still trying to get into but I'm sure everyone knows what it is. An open-world action RPG with full-blown horseback combat that can get crazy difficult, especially when managing cash, food and minions. If those don't do it for you, I'd also look into Legie. It's a 3D dungeon crawler, except this time, you're not the hero. You can find it here, at http://legie.sudokop.com/ |

OH! Forgot to mention - it isn't the most polished of games, and the whole "you need lots of food to survive" thing can get tedious but it's a solid indie action-RPG with a great art style. It's called KrabbitWorld Origins and even features online play. The thing that stands out for me about this game is the combo system. You can find it, as well as one of it's predecessors, the now-free KrabbitWorld Labyrinth (it isn't quite as good of a game) here, at http://www.krabbitonline.com/ |

Aquaria very cool underwater fantasy RPG, very solid story behind it and the environments / music / gameplay are very impressive as well. Spend a good 20 hours on my first playthrough! |

it's good to see indie games that are really good, sometimes even better than the games from popular game companies
