I started playing DF when it first released on the EU server where you had to sit and spam the ordering page to be able to get into the game. Played for a while and was in a decent guild until I quit and they all left.

It's been a while since I've played DF, and was curious about starting over now on the NA server. I'm curious about a few things:

1. How are the populations? Are there still alot of people playing?
2. Am I truely at a disadvantage starting in this game being that magic is pretty powerful and it would take forever to build up magic skills?
3. What are your thoughts on the game in it's current state?

If you guys could give me some advice.

It's either playing Darkfall or Mortal Online, and MO isn't even finished and they charge you $60 to play the beta.

What are your thoughts? I appreciate any responses.

I'm still pretty new so there are definitely better people here that can answer your questions.

1. I see people all the time but I'm still flying solo. Apparently the majority of players are in a clan and in one of that clan's  city/village/hamlet.

2. Magic is being balanced in 2 weeks with the expansion, so melee and archery become more viable.

3. I havn't enjoyed a game more than this since EVE became a part of my life. I think it's getting to the point of being well polished and after the coming expansion it's going to get a hell of a lot better.

Yes, it's definitely worth coming back to... so much has improved along with a ton of new features. The game is becoming more and more polished and after the patch, Darkfall should be THE game to play!

Mid November is the last I heard.

I'm actually debating just starting a brand new character on the NA server. I didn't make it very far on EU anyways. I got to about 70 or so in polearm and archery, and about 60 in Minor Magic I think it was?

How much at a disadvantage am I starting fresh?

Everyone seems to have trained up magic AoE spells which are being balanced out soon. So I don't know how far the advantages are going to go. I've been training archery (great on mobs anyways) and my melee knowing full well the nerf hammer has been on the way for some time.

If anyone is considering Mortal Online over DF then they are picking the wrong choice. I just tried that game and it is insanely full of noticeable bugs. In a few hours of gameplay there were so many GUI, graphical, AI + more issues that made the game suck. It's still in beta (I'd call it alpha) and won't be ready for a long time. Darkfall is definitely more polished and more exciting.

A game released back in what, Feb? Compared to a game that isn't even out of beta yet.  Yeah I could definitely see how that is a fair comparison.

That sounds a bit like Darkfall when it released.  Oh wait, Mortal Online isn't released yet, it is still in beta.  Maybe we should wait to make judgements on a game until it is released.  Isn't there an NDA?

 after playing the fiasco that is aion in its current state of bot ridden grind fest i can say darkfall is starting to sound appealing, at least rolling an orc/minotaur anyway, if they add a trial at some point in the next year ild def try it and probably end up buying it lol.  while losing all your stuff when you die can suck, im the kind of guy that would put the time into banking 10 full sets of gear and getting my skills up so that i could at least be able to make a run for it if not stand my ground and win a fight, as long as the skills arent insanely hard to level at least!

Darkfall still plays like a game in beta heh. Its really not a bad game they just lied about everything in it minus the full loot pvp.

Ya we really need to supprt MO. No need to bash it at this point in it's development. How many companies are actually trying anything this different?

If MO does well it's only going to be good news for potential future games that never make it past the "quick write that down on a napkin" stage.

Just an idea....

if your coming back to DF and you already have a eu char resubing that dude wouldnt be a bad idea....

1.youd most likely play on hours that the core eu community is sleeping in, this will give u an easier time to get readjusted to the game and updated etc....

2.Free xfers to NA are gonne be avail when this nex xpac drops in the coming weeks, although your inventory is gonna be emptied when u make the change =/......

Or you could just buy na1 for 50 bucks and get a head start there either way gl to ya......
