MechScape, Jagex's sci-fi successor to RuneScape, has been confirmed as canceled according to a report over at Eurogamer. Jagex CEO Mark Gerhard confirms that the game has been canceled at significant cost to the company. Gerhard admits that they are able to weather the cost due to the fact they are doing so well as a result of RuneScape's runaway and continued success. Much of the game's technology will now be put to use in a new, unspecified project, Jagex is working on. For the full report, head on over to Eurogamer. Michael "MikeB" Bitton |

Finally a developer that has some honor in there work and the balls to waste millions and still keep going. I'm grateful they didnt pull off a bad, bugged game just for the sake of having it out like most developers would. |

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results. |

You have to give them a thumbs up for realizeing up front that it was going to be a problem, and not take up a lot of time and have a lot of upset players. So kudo's for them, and yet another pos to throw on the pile. I hope that whatever they are doing next winds up better. |

Revenge is a dish best served with mayonnaise and those little cheesy things on sticks. |

It doesn't count as a good MMO! Oh well. I'd rather they kept their attention on Runescape, but if they create a new game from scratch and aim it at the older audience, while keeping the best things about RS, I'd try it.

Runescape has been successful for many years and if they went ahead with mechscape that would probly be successful for many years too but runescape would probly end up getting sold and become an item mall game which wouldn't be cool. This isn't a signature, you just think it is. |

Can we all get hardcopies of this news article? And then everytime the next Blizzard makes and releases another incomplete, half-bad-or-worse game, we shuv this article in their faces and raise our eyebrows saying, "Do it right.". Isn't that what they taught us in elementary school? I know my parents have been giving me that line all my life. It's too bad it is lost in the game developing industry. |

While Runescape may not be the greatest game in the world, Jagex has done a great job building up a user base and making a name for themselves in the industry. I have the utmost respect for them in making this move. |

Hay, I for one love Runescape and I agree with Gemma. He makes a good point and my oppinion is that I love Runescape and how well they have upgraded it since 2006. John Macias |
