Every night at primetime all servers reach that "full" orange text.

This doomsday thing is really getting old. No matter how much made up crap is posted nothing will change the fact that Aion is a great game. It's only evident in posts such as "25-30 is such a grind" when a single run of NTC provides 75% of a level in 40 minutes. Comments such as "You can't PvP until 40+" make me laugh. By level 27 I had over 200 kills in the Abyss just from ganking with one other person, a Gladiator--myself a Ranger.

The whole "It's an eastern game, we westerners don't like it" has to be the stupidest crap i've ever read. People over in Asia are humans too--if a game is grindy and dry, they wont like it either. I tire of the "L2 failed in the west which proves Aion will too" thing is equally stupid. L2 failed in the west because it failed in the east. Aion is doing great in the west because it is doing great in the east. Aion conintues to be successful in Korea--so even if the whole "aion has to die because it didnt kill wow" theory proves correct, anyone who enjoys this game can play on their extremly populated servers.
 

I'm tired of threads stating that the game is going to go down in flames. The people that do this blindly hate the game.

This thread is in the second one. I mean, why would you just start a thread in an Aion forum about Aion being successful? It's defensive. If this game was excellent, you would not have to feel defensive about it.

I can agree with you to some points esp with the failure type threads but how many of of those full servers are full of farming bots (I encountered quite a few myself)? I did encounter a grind at lvl 25 to 30. Little to no quests there. PVP was fun though! :D

at worst Aion will be 100k  western.  at best i would say maybe 500k western.  Which is pretty good MMO wise today.

Aion is a polished game with a pretty damn good combat system,  which is its main up.  Across the board though it does not stand out too much,  with exception of graphics which are probably only below Age of Conans.

It's the nature of MMO forums. People either bitch, complain, hype or defend a MMO because of their veiw of the MMO.

I'm no fool--I openly admit most people do not like Aion. However, this is a good thing if you ask me. Aion caters to the hardcore, not the casual. As a side note, I still activly play WoW to disprove any accusations of  "fanboy". Player name is Xjum if you disbelieve.

My view is this: Aion is second best to WoW in this genre.

So whats hardcore about it?  U think grinding xp is hardcore?  Get a bloody grip, its not hardcore at all.  You have the /LOCATE function, says it all tbh.  Biggest carebera function out of every mmo.  All you need now is the big red circles from warhammer is ur in fairy land.

But I guess grinding is "hardcore" aswell!

I think Aion is hardcore such that if you don't know how to effectivly play it you'll be forced into grinding before 40. I also believe a strong majority of players are terribly stupid. I also reconize a game plan that rewards the minority (the good) won't make for a popular game.

On a side note, if Aion is a failure i'd like to know what game other than WoW is a success in this genre.

Well there are some areas that are not easy to locate with that function, some quests you need to locate in areas specified.

From this website I've learned to block out the haters because what it really comes to is that Aion isn't for everybody. Personally, I love Aion. And in my opition its the best MMO out right now, although I am biased because I'm a big PvP fan.

People have the right to not like Aion just as I have the right to love it. What really gets me though is all the false statements about Aion posted here. 80% of the things people complain about is BS imo. Aion truely is a great a game and anyone who goes into it without an open mind I'm sure will fall in love with it to. Those who come to Aion comparing it with other MMOs will likely hate it. Adios I say...lol Aion is better off without them anyway. :-)

If your a pvp fan, none imo. Aion beats even WoW as far as I'm conserned. I dont even bother comparing Aion to WoW because Aion is a brand new game. Wait until Aion is 3-4 years old then we'll compare LOL. The only game that even comes close to Aion's PvP is GWs from what I've seen and I've played alot of MMOs.

If someone is looking for a quest based MMO (quest grinding anyone?) then I would say likely WoW or LOTRO is more suited for them. But if someone is looking for a MMO that doesnt hold your hand to max level and has great PvP, Aion can't be beat right now.

I know I'll be flamed for this, but imo Aion is the best MMO that has come out since DAOC. Thats only my opition of course, but I'd bet 80% of the players playing Aion right now would agree. Once your toon gets past 30 Aion's world opens up and the fun really begins. For those that left before that? Hope your happy where you ended up!  :-)

But the same can be said about every other MMO then. Even WoW. I mean if you don't know how to effectively play it, you'll be stuck grinding mobs, walking around in sub par gear and getting your backside handed to you in PvP.

Look, I like Aion, it's a pretty fun game but I cannot, in all honesty, say that it's hardcore. It has some parts that are tedious and grindy but that, in itself, doesn't make Aion a hardcore game.

Even if you think of it in terms of character development; you can't even really gimp your character. You have no control over stats and no control over skills (besides stigmas). The only real way to make a sub par character is by making poor gear choices.

Then there is the "/lolcate" feature which pretty much takes all of the thought, and the fun, out of questing.

The only real hardcore feature in Aion, that I can think of, is the fact that you can run out of money and not be able to pay for travel and soul healing. But that pretty much becomes trivial as you accumulate more and more gold and progress in levels. That and competing for mobs with 2 or 3 higher level bots, especially with the stupid way the kill rights work in this game.

It's not a terrible failure. It is quite funny however how fanboys once claimed this game could take on WoW.

It may be successful, but it continues onward w/o my two subs.  It failed to inspire me.  Not a bad game, just not really what I'm looking for.

I put it to you my friend, you wouldnt really know what nextgen is.  Because for the life of everything Aion is no way next gen at all, hell its probably BELOW par with mmos released 5-7 years ago, at worst its on par.

You realize you don't HAVE to click that locate button right? Its there to help people who aren't a huge fan of questing.

If you don't like it - don't use it... its really simple. If this wasn't there you'd have an equal amount of people complaining theres no "quest helper" addon and they have too hard of a time finding quests...

Honestly - Aion could come from God and most people still would find something wrong/to complain about... moving along...

I seriously doubt this game will have anywhere near 100k players in the US and Eu in 6 months.   More like around 50k.  Is that successful?  For most MMO companies it is.

I think my biggest gripe with the game is actually the community. My chief #1 annoyance is the common misuse of the term "Hardcore".

There's a difference between being "Hardcore" and enjoying grinding.

The community basically considers themself "Hardcore" because they grind.

From my experience, there's a difference between being hardcore and masochistic.

For me hardcore usually means someone who spends way too much time on a game. Sometimes it also means people who are really good at the game, but often these two meanings go together (you get better at a game if you play it more).
