Update 5.6 has gone live on all servers today and brings with it the launch of the "Night of the Lost Souls" seasonal event, the Veteran Rewards system, and the new high-level Iron Tower dungeon. Patch Notes for version 5.6 can be found here. Michael "MikeB" Bitton |

It sounds like its a minor patch. What about reworking the old dungeons to fit the RPG system ? Or the raids ? Compare this to the big boys and you realise that Funcom is nothing but the talk. |

Nice to see they're still fixing bugs, but seems like a tiny update. Not much in the notes. |

Quite honestly, the ONLY thing that ruined the game for me was the layout of the zones. What I mean is: -Tortage being the only starter area -All the areas being "zoned"/instanced. No open world. If those 2 things weren't the way they were, I would be playing this game hands down no questions asked. Sadly, it would take a lot to change that. Oh well. -Computer specs no one cares about: check. -MMOs played no one cares about: check. -Xfire stats no one cares about: check. -Signature no one cares about: check. ------------------------------------------------------------ |

I have to agree that the zone thing is a pain, it would be better if they were larger. There is no way to change the design of what is there now, just to have them planned out better for the expansion and future updates. Like link them together to give a better illusion. I wish there were more starting zones too maybe from some other countries or small islands which could link together to trade.

Its been so long since played others like wow, lotro, war and other popular ones but were those zoned? Just a question, not trying to compare greatness in games, just do not remember AoC's many zones and forget what games had loading screens when changing citys or not. Thinking that an mmo holding that many players in one giant zone/world must have some killer equiptment/servers behind it as well as very effecient code. The one im playing now is zoned big time and wish it were not. Thanks. This post is intentionally written not to make any sense what so ever. Thank You Very Much. |

MMOs 5 years ago (WOW, Lineage 2,...) had a huge open world.
Lineage 2 is one of the bigger open worlds, and it handles pvp fortress sieges - yes all of the fortresses are in the open world - with 400+ players fights daily.
5 years later we have much more powerful PCs & graphic cards, and what do we get? A small zoned world where your guild can pvp with max 48 of its players at 1 time (not all the players in 1 guild can take part together in the same fight, can you imagine this?).

Seeing a few raid issues with the patch at the moment maybe FC can give us an update/hotfix.

"Recruit a Friend’ Rewards"
Ah nice, AoC is starting to turn into a cash shop game
Recruit 1 friend (aka pruchase 1 sub) and get the "Bronze Ring of Hastening Winds" (level 20) Recruit 3 friends (aka pruchase 3 subs) and get the "Silver Ring of Hastening Winds" (level 50) Recruit 6 friends (aka pruchase 6 subs) and get the "Gold Ring of Hastening Winds" (level 80)
- > pay more to get some better stuff. The others who don't have friends who want to play can just go and buy some gold online. Legitimates the whole thing. Cool.
edit: anyway, don't get me wrong,I am not bashing the game. It will certainly bring some new blood to the game, which is good.

Lots of games have incentives to bring new ppl in like WAR and LOTRO, AoC's turn now.

edit: but still there is a problem here. You get:
+ 30 constitution + 7 natural stamina regen + 30 evade rating + 40 hit rating + 30 critical rating +30 immunity rating + 5% out of combat movement (this one is not a problem as it is out of combat).
-> the problem is that AoC is a competitive PVP game (if you pvp). So those who "pay more" get an advantage... (-> = cash shop, online gold buying, etc... its ok for pve, but for pvp this is a bad thing).

I follow alot of MMOs and their progression even if I dont play them right atm. That includes games like WOW, WAR (witch I play atm until Dragon age comes out), LOTRO, AOC and many more. I say it again - It sounds like a minor patch. And since I did alot of dungeons and Raids while in the comeback effort - I know how unbalanced and totally broken those are after the new Stats change. Funcom needs to rework all PVE content cause of the stat changes. THe truth is that havn't even started. I say it again - It sounds like a minor patch. Compared to the actual work that was needed. |
