LOL, how do you figure someone who just likes to play solo as the same thing as a bot. Did you ever thing that maybe they may like to quest and actually play the game by themselves and not in a group, but they do like the social interaction with people when they feel like it. They are not the same at all. Someone who is running a bot program is generally just having the game play for them through that program to give them some kind of advantage, whether it be leveling them up while they are not playing themselves or aquiring some form of loot for them. I can't believe you actually made this comment, that was probably the dumbest thing I have read all day. I think my IQ just dropped for even reading it. I hope you like negative feedback, because I figure I won't be the last person to comment on this. |

/sarcasm Yes... One is a script/program running non-stop in order to grind xp or harvest items. The other is a person that enjoys playing alone.. Obviously they are one and the same! This is one of the most asinine things I have seen posted here for some time. - Case: Thermaltake Kandalf Black Chassis "I like wow, I like aion and I like AoC all for different reasons.....the later cause i get to see boobs, but still its a reason!!" - Sawlstone |

When does logic or reason make an appearance on MMORPG.com? Rarely it would seem, and definitely not in the first post of this topic. Ningen wa, ningen da. |

No they are not. One is cheating the game, the other is cheating himself. |

Well it was supposed to be tongue 'n cheek when i said that, but I do feel honored that a quote of mine is cause to start a new thread. However, designing and implementing a bot capable of playing an MMO can be a play style unto itself. It is a style of solo play. Maybe a subversive style, but a style all the same. |

The OP was making a comparison to the contribution on a digital world, or MMO from the perspective of a bot and a solo player in regards to the interaction with other individuals who inhabit said world. In this particular instance the OP is correct. There is no real difference in the interaction of the world in regards to a bot compared to a solo player. So the OP in my eyes is correct. Neither speak, neither group, neither contribute to anything in any form of social interaction. Typically within the world, a bot and a solo player can not be told apart, unless the solo player wishes to stop in his tracks long enough to tell you to piss off. That is about the extent of the differences between a bot and a solo player. |

In every thread on this topic, the general consensus from solo players is that they group with friends/family and will join groups when it isn't a pain in the butt to do so. They've explained that they still do interact with others, often in vent with their guild or general chatting. They've basically dispelled every myth that you guys spew time and again.
While it's question and answer time, I'd like you to answer a question for me.

Soloers are at least posible future group members if/when they grow bored of playing alone. Bots on the other hand are just a waste of computer resources. |

Well, perhaps considering this newly found connection, all people that are not in large guilds or raiding should be banned! Perhaps there should be a government position for the regulation of solo players. I think it could be sort of a "mmorpg czar". This person could have a staff to monitor all mmos, those not socializing enough will be delt with in the harshest of manors! I think a online mmo prison would be in order, your toon is wisked away to a "virtual prison cell". Lets do this!! :)~ If you think no means yes, then no your not going to virtual prison. |

I'll play the game. The difference between bots and soloer's are Soloer's 1-Need washroom breaks 2-Need food breaks 3- Work 4 -Need a break 5-Needs sleep Bots (Third party program) 1-Need too be activated 2-Can be left unattended 3- Can run all day 4-Can cause ban from game

I solo because either I can't keep up with other players, or they can't keep up with me. I only have limited time, so when I play, I do it at my own pace. Groups equal responsibility, and I have a job and a life for when I feel like being responsible. I definitely don't need some little fucker whining to me because I accidentally pulled some mobs, have to take an important call, or walked away to make a hot pocket. With that being said, I am all for groups, or whatever playstyle suits you. If it's with a bunch of friends, sure sign me up for a group. The fact of the matter is that if you ever want a truly immersive game, then deal with it. Everyone does shit differently in real life, so that should hold true in a game, as we are all real people playing it. I find the narrowmindedness of these anti-soloist sympathies laughable. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. |

What if the said game actually has hard stuff that needs you reaction, timing and requiring you to use different abilities for different situations? Oh and stop taking sentences out of context, this isn't Fox News. |

Only a complete and utter loser worries as much as some of you do, about how others spend their time playing a game. "I'm furious, because others aren't having fun the same exact way that I think they should. I must tell someone on the internet about this!! *nerdrage nerdrage nerdrage*"

Do you realize that instead of promoting group play u indeed promote MORE soloing? how? u just enforce that PUGs are made of asshats and douches whose "1337 skillz" are better than anyone in the group . People play for fun and enjoyable experiences, not to be npcs for the "1337 player", give us pros, not cons dude. now: M&B Warband: cRPG MOD. |

I mean, seriously, is it any wonder that more solo-friendly games are becoming popular? If I was forced to group up with half the 'old school' MMO guys that whine about solo-friendly games, I'd never be playing an MMO. Most of them (at least the ones that feel the need to ramble on about AC/UO/EQ on here, endlessly) seem like complete douchebags. |
