I purchased this game (trial) about 6 days ago and subscribed 5 days ago (only the first 20 levels of the game was worth the purchase) and tbh i am only getting like 4-5h of sleep per day ( i am currently unemployed ) and the rest goes out to aoc (i am lvl 63 hox already so if anyone says this game has ANYKIND of grind then by my all means stop playing mmos :) ). This game is amazing and i am truly sad that i have not tried it before due to bad reviews from players here on mmorpg. But oh well we live and learn. And yes if u have an ancient rig then this game is not for u (i am guessing this is where all the "bad" reviews came from) but if u got a decent rig then i suggest u try it out , u will love it. |

Think about what you just wrote there and ask yourself if that makes any kind of sense. Are you trying to tell everyone here that in all of these bad reviews, that their only complaint was game performance and lag? I recommend rereading those bad reviews, and think about the point of views those reviewers had and the state of the game at the time of those reviews. Then maybe you can respond with something that doesn't sound so...well...stupid? |

Then maybe you can respond with something that doesn't sound so...well...stupid? I can tell you that i did not stay long in AOC,but the game itself is pretty good. All you need to ask yourself is what do 99.9% of players do in games anyhow?Speed level for no reason at all.All i heard for complaints were END game content,or they were crying for more ways to speed level none of witch i consider legit complaints. IMO if all you do is ignore content for the sole reason to speed level, then you have no business demanding content of any kind,be it end game or anywhere. AOC when i played it had zero problems ,i encountered zero bugs and the game looked good.My issues were with linearity. The game on a whole still offers fun combat as good as anything else apart from my fave combat witch is FFXI.The quests albeit in many cases are the same old,are quite different than most every game. There is actually a story to each,it has interaction and asks for more than just go kill 10 bears and return. The night time quest line was kind of cool also, not your everyday thing you see in games.Everything was connected fairly well,i did not find myself totally confused or lost. If there was a decent player base,i may have continued playing but ,my guild had only about 5-6 people on at a time and there was around 100 people in the guild. I think the problem with gaming right now,is players are game hopping, hoping to be the first to max level and be the king of the server for PVP.It is all about egos and selfishness, nobody seems to want to enjoy playing with other players and slowly enjoy a game, they think it is a race to show off or something. For myself, once you finish the end level, then i go back and play the game under a different perspective as a diff class. From the little i witnessed of AOC it seems to at least have quite a bit of diversity from class to class.I know when i changed class playing FFXI,the contrast was so incredible it was like playing a whole new game again.I do not need or want to sit around on my max level character to show off,end game should be end of that player,go make a new one,or go play a different game. http://www.youtube.com/user/Napolianboo#p/u/15/rCYLLQCNc1w |

Dude , i am not trying to implement anything by what i said , i am just telling u and everyone else reading this , that i am enjoying the game and i love it. It's really as simple as that . I am not a reviewer and don't have the experience to go in a mmo debate whit u and most of the people reading these forums aren't either , some are just looking for a good fun game but that does not mean that a few sentences well spoken can't make a person realize that this is actually a good game , detailed or not... Just like Wizardry said , the only thing that this game is lacking at the moment is people , the rest is amazing. And yes in my own personal opinion i still think that most of the bad reviews for this game came from people who couldn't fully enjoy the game due to it's high performance needs. Give the game a go and u will not be disappointed and guess what , it will cost u nothing ! |

You're certainly entitled to your opinion. I wasn't trying to take that away from you. I just thought it'd be fair to give the bad reviews the benefit of the doubt, and acknowledge that they had some genuine dislikes with the game. I, myself, didn't like the game either. I bought it at release, and the game ran flawlessly. I just found the game boring, and the combat system not conducive to groups. However, a lot of work has gone into this game and it might be worth playing now, but I'll never know since I'm not going to pay premium prices for a game that's already lost my business once and hasn't convinced me to part with my money again. If they gave a veteran trial or something, like SOE does with Vanguard every January, then I'd give it a shot. |

You say it yourself, you don't have a lot of experience with MMO's. Perhaps that might be the reason. Age of Conan broke with a couple of established rules. One the biggest is the skills and how you use them. In most traditional MMO's (EQ/WoW/Lotro) you have a selection of skills, each with their own countdown and their own effect. Each class has their own selection giving each class their own role in a group. Some people complain that this system is little more then button pressing as you stand still. These are VERY bad players. A good player know to be in the right position at the right time and use the right skill at the right time, rather then hit whatever isn't on cooldown. Do you use the big heal now, or save it. Do I force agro on me now or can I handle it? AoC changed this. To get more of a twitch feel it has skills, but you got to hit 4 buttons for it. sure sure, there is more to it, but the skills themselves were.... well... boring. Do damage. In a group, everyone just spams their attacks with all skills mostly just doing that. There is little to no tactics involved. Now, there is a group of players that HATES the EQ skill system and they might well feel that AoC finally gives them some different. But a LOT of players want those tactics in their fight. To them the endless button mashing that AoC asks is just... well boring. AoC gave me a very busy fight but I was never challenged in the game. I never had to think. Group combat was even worse. Healing a complete bore. If you like beat-em-ups, then AoC might be for you, but for those raised on EQ, AoC just ain't it.

I don't know about everyone else but I know I will only pay 1 month recurring and never do multi months just because you never know what's going to happen. I have played many MMO's a couple of them I played for more then a year but never ever did a multi month sub. Now I agree that a lowering of a monthly fee would be much nicer rather then a discount on a package deal. |
