But back when Lineage came out MMO's weren't as popular as they are now. So of course Aion initially outsells it. But has Aion sold as many boxes as WAR or AoC? I don't believe they have, but I may be wrong. I 100% believe the dude you quoted. All along the game has felt like that to me anyway. Except they chose to charge you 15 bucks a month for it. Other than that it's felt no different than Perfect World, Lineage or any other cookie cutter Asian MMO. |

The people who frequent this site are not a true sample of the people who play MMO's. I'm willing to bet that most of the frequent posters here are more of the hardcore gamers and represent the minority in MMO's. If what NCSoft does works for them and their investors then I wouldn't change anything either. That leaves you two choices, either shut up and play as it is or quit and show your distaste for them by not giving them your money. simple really. I'm not an IT Specialist in real life, but I play one on the internet. |

And how the hell would you know, according to your post history (www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/3140878#3140878) you've only played in beta before the latest changes to the game

I still have a month left to play in Aion but I havent logged in for weeks. Im not comming on the forums to complain that its bad or anything, some people love it some dont, its just not my cup of tea, so I move on to the next MMO that fits more my taste, perhaps STO or SWtor (sci-fic) will peek more my intrest. |

Well regardless of this whole topic id like to see it do what GW did and cost money to buy and be f2p But i know this game wont and just because the game seems buggy now all games are at there release and give it time to work out all the kinks and etc and i bet you more people will come to the game including people who quit. Besides no one is really sure how many people have quit playing this. So unless you work for ncsoft and have these statics dont post anymore of these threads Its pointless and besides most of the threads on here latly were all haters its stupid,

I think they should have built this game to have four different ways of playing on four different types of servers it instead of limiting themselves to the untested market of players that want a strictly PvPvE experience. They could have easily made this a kick-ass, PvP-only game with PvP from the 1st level to the cap with very few tweaks and launched it in North America on 10 servers designated as PvP only. They could also have easily tweaked the same "base game" to be PvP optional. All it would take is a LOT more quests throughout all levels and more zones and a PvP on/off switch. That's another group of servers. They could have easily tweaked the base game to be PvE only. That 's another group of servers and it caters to (probably) the most common playstyle of the MMORPG community in North America. It would also be where NCSoft makes the most money because North America will probably never be PvP-centric. And, of course a set of servers for the game as it is now for those of us who like PvPvE and enjoy Aion the way it is. What's more, there could be RP servers for each of these 4 playstyles. Think about it. Every playstyle is accommodated and 4x the amount of MMORPG players can be targeted by marketing. PvPer's don't have to put up with PvE-centric players or have their game softened because they'd have their own servers like every other friggin' game out there etc. NCSoft never should have limited themselves to what's basically a niche/untested market of PvPvE without player alternatives. It's extremely narrow thinking, particlularly when you consider it wouldn't be too awfully tough to tweak the base game the way they tweak most PvE MMORPG's to accommodate the PvPers. |

It may retain about 150-200k here in the west, which is good. Those aren't bad numbers... |

The whole combat system of Tabula Rasa was 100 times more fluid and smooth as hell. And TAB targeting actually worked. The mob AI in Tabula Rasa was also 100 times better. The Alien drop ships dropping off patrols and such. Best thing I've ever seen in an MMO to date. They just had to fix the skill trees and add more content. That's all.

Yes Tabula Rasa was very nice, pitty the korean graphic pseudo artists who completly screwed the player toons looks and stuff like that. They never got to implemente the mechs either.. that alone would have saved TR imo.. was a game with loads of potencial badly explored imo.

Give me a definitive link for that 3.5 mill figure, if you don't mind. I don't even care about the 500k, since I know that won't last. But I want to see somewhere in writing where NCSoft stated that number. |

Didn't I read somewhere that Aion is a free to play in Asia? It probably accounts for their numbers, if so. The Western release is certainly taking a nose dive.
Such a promising game, let down by so little content and bad support. |

Yes, wow uses the same pricing model for its Asian customers. Right after you said that, you have no credibility whatsoever... As far as the western status of the game, my server has been reaching FULL status since release, there are no shortage of players and the game has held at #4 on xfire for over a month. Like most of the haters here you lose by confusing the lies floating around that thing you call a head, with the facts. |

why should he give you anything ? Find the link yourself (assuming you can manage to pull yourself away from levelling another alt in world of kiddiecraft), the information is out there. As far as disputing sub numbers, that is a two way street. Anyone can be just as ignorant as you and accuse Blizzard of making up sub numbers as well. |

Ok this is just my personal view after playing to lvl50, so bash me like you want I dont care. Cause ppls dont like to read wall of texts Ill make it short ^^. No real content, controls are awful, sounds are the worst Ive ever heard, PvP sucks SO FAR alot (very boring). |

Aion is the first game where I can admit, I will not play it and will always hate it. I never tried to get into beta and will never play a free trial for it. It just reeks with that Terribad MMO smell. And I'll admit, I'm an Aion hater. The only Korean MMO I'll ever like is Mabinogi, cause it's sandbox-ish and free. |

Calm down.
When a user throws out a number, it's custom to back up that claim by providing proof, which is what the other user is asking for.
Step back and take a deep breath. |

The problem is, that the last couple years most MMO launches were just crap and the quality of the MMO's were crap as well. People are getting fed up and tired of it. And not willing to be put up with it anymore. With AION it's basically ironic and also a shame, as the game is actually pretty okay and polished. But it's getting destroyed, because of the botting and cheating being completely out of control and the pathetic support and very poor communication (or complete lack theiroff in case of Europe) by NCSoft. If the botting and cheating wouldn't have been so out of control and NCSoft actually provided decent communication and ingame support. Then I would have continued to subscribe. Cheers
^^^This...the game is doomed to obscurity in the coming months as better American made titles come out. The Koreans have not learned how to control their own games and this is the last Korean game I will play. |
