Seriously guys, this is probably the best experience I've had with an MMORPG since WoW release.

I loved UO, EQ, SWG, DAoC, LOTRO, EQ2, Eve and WoW. I had great times playing all of them, and I have been looking for the same feeling I had when playing and progressing through them.

I tried to love AoC, Warhammer, Matrix, CoX, Champions Online, Vanguard, or even Aion. I just couldn't. At the end of the free 30 days, I realized that those games had no soul. Yeah, maybe cool animations, cool graphics, or cool licensce. But just boring.

And now I'm loving Fallen Earth. Guys, I'm not telling you to buy the game. Get a trial asap and try it out. If you are one of those who are looking for a new, good and deep MMO experience, Fallen Earth may be your game. It's definetly mine :)

OP: good to see you have found a good game - you're surely not alone... :) (went back to Emby to finish my Omnibus finally, it was packed... but Oilville was even worse - I practically "escaped" to S2 now :D)

Title is a troll magnet though, and it's obviously working as well :D

The game is pretty good, I don't understand the heat it's getting atm.

Did that many WoW newbs get a free trial that we need to listen to their inexperienced mmo opinions on a sandbox/hybrid game?

I almost wish mmorpg.com didn't pull that FE review I would much rather deal with the 6.9 score than the haters flooding this forum.

Yeah, I'm not sure why all the hate. Honestly, if he likes the game. Who cares? It doesn't affect you in anyway.

It is a wonderful game for sure. It gets better with every level and Icarus nailed it on the customer service and development team/community relationship.

Well you know the saying:

Its easier to destroy than it is to build and its easier to hate than its to love.

Honestly though, people don't want to see other players happy if they are not having fun in the same game they play or cannot

understand and this goes to any other mmorpgs out there.

Hence: How can you like that POS of a game, I am never wrong, if I don't like the game, you shouldn't either.

However, not to derail the post.. I am glad at least Ariargento may have found his game. The true test though is getting

past the first 2 to 3 months in any mmorpg.

Now about me..

I have a short attention span when it comes to any games and so far FE has been holding my interest full time since the File Planet Open  Beta. When I was testing the Alpha stages of this game last year and in the beginning of this year. I wasn't sure this game was  going to make it, however I am glad that I was wrong.

See you in the wasteland Ariargento

And how much did you get paid to post that? And how much did Al Gore get paid to develop the internet? And how much did it cost them to fake the moon landing? And how much did the CIA have to pay Elvis to shoot JFK? And how much did the space aliens pay Sigourney Weaver to give birth to thieir baby? Seriously does anyone else think the wackaloons are running wild on the the internets? People like what they like and tend to say so. You not liking it doesn't make them wrong, or evil, or shills for a marketing conspiracy.

OP you are not alone in this, I've seen threads and posts with exact same points mentioned and it's also exactly what I went through too.

2 months ago I unsubed from EVE and AoC with no intention to go back to MMOs anytime soon, after a decade of gaming.

Then FE came out of nowhere heh.

I decided to do a little bit of research on the game, watched some YouTube videos and decided to give it a go because it did look like an old school game that I would probably like.

I never expected the game to be so much addictive and fun though.

Exact same feeling I got when I played EQ for the first time and has been said so many times on these forums that it's almost imposible to get that first MMO feeling back but this game managed to do just that heh, weird really.

What I learned from this is that no matter how much research you do on a game, no matter how much videos you watch and no matter how many reviews you read you cant judge a game until you try it.

I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, I really do, just not today.

This.

Forums are for entertainment, reviews are (maybe) fun... but the cakes needs to be tasted to be judged. Beta test was how I started to like Lotro, and FE - i just started playing because of the genre... and that's it :D

A lot of people are enjoying the game.  So far it looks like the population is very healthy.  Time will tell if it continues, but I am resubbing and I think the game is just getting started.  Right now the community is very considerate, mature and helpful from what I have experienced.

I had a bug issue the other day and asked for help in chat and a GM immediately answered my question and resolved my problem.  It's so nice having a GM in the game, as opposed to SOE and sending them countless tickets and emails and never getting any help.

Right now I'm thinking I have 3 days off, but I promised myself I would do something else since I have been playing so much.  Hands are already starting to shake though, lol.

I have been interested in this game, however I am wondering if they are going to wait so long on giving the standard 2 week trial that I will have lost interest.

It just isn't worth it these days to pay the box price for an MMO, since there are so many options with 2 week trials and just sub prices. These same options tend to have more content and less bugs as well since they've been out for a while.

So tell them to hurry up and offer a trial, and not to wait until everyone has maxed out characters running around to do so.

Having GMs in the game is cool. From what I've seen they generally answer your question, but players asking for GMs they completely ignore and the players have to tell what to do. Thing is, it's a new MMO so we'll see how much longer GMs stay in-game. I remember even 2Moons had lots of GMs in-game, and you'd even run by them sometimes.. now.. they're gone, and won't touch support with a 10 foot pole. If the game sustains population past Christmas.. this will be the indisputable game of 2010. I just have a feeling this dev team won't let us down, as long as they don't go bankrupt. That should keep the upgrades rolling in, fixing glitches and things like AI, and make it a pretty sweet MMO to be in on.

I managed to snag one of the Trial Keys this weekend and played for a while yesterday. I really liked what I saw. Got about ten days left on the trial and I can't wait to play some more.

I really like having the chance to build my character how I want, rather than just leveling and seeing points get applied. I'm sure there will be some number crunchers out there who will discover the most effective builds. As long as it doesn't become too much, "You can't join our team because you have too much of this attribute and not enough of that attribute," then it shouldn't be a problem.

Haven't had a chance to do much crafting yet. It seems a little more straighforward than what I expected from some of the pre-release chatter. Maybe that's just in the early stages of crafting? Or is it always, "Learn the recipe, gather the necessary mats, press a button?" Is there any trial and error crafting later on? Or customized crafting?

I like the hybrid combat system, mostly shooter with a bit of action bar thrown in. It will be very nice once they polish it some more, but right now it's plenty of fun to shoot an NPC with my crossbow, switch to my board, and Smash them. It's also nice that with well placed shots you can do plenty more damage than with errant shots. It seemed to me that it was beneficial to pause and wait until they had moved back from an attack to get a better shot on them. Maybe that was just lag.

Lag wasn't a huge issue for me. I only got disconnected once. I did see some NPCs warp around. Those are things I expect from a "just released" MMO. Even the "most polished game ever in the history of MMOs" has disconnects and warps from time to time. But, since Fallen Earth is a shooter style game, it has to get more refined. Maybe if I play enough, I'll be able to compensate, but right now I don't trust the accuracy that much and I feel like it's a bit of lag.

One last thing that I hope improves later in the game is the AI. I was killing Gully Dogs mostly yesterday. Two of them would be strolling along together and I'd plug one in the chest with a crossbow bolt, she'd yell, "Get them!" and run over to me. On her own. Her buddy would just keep strolling along, seemingly oblivious to the fact that I was splitting his girlfriend's grape open with my 2x6. I was also able to repeatedly walk up beside them and press the end of my crossbow up against their temple and put a bolt through it. This is like level one stuff, though, so I'll hold out hope that it gets better.

Those, of course, were the yellow Gully Dogs. I did take on some red Gully Dogs later in the day. Contrary to the "I see nothing!" yellow Gully Dog approach, when I attacked one red Gully Dog, one or two more would materialize out of thin air to pummel the back of my head while I was trying to kill the one in front of me. That's not really an upgrade in AI. So I hope that later levels and more advanced areas have better AI in the aggressive NPCs.

None of the disappointments is a game breaker for me though. I had a lot of fun running around killing stuff yesterday in the game. I never felt like any of it was a chore, or that I had to press myself to go on. I also love the setting of the game. I've been a long time Mad Max, post-apocalyptic fan, and this game feels like it has it right. I feel like there is a lot of potential here for this to be a long term niche game.

WoW is the new MUD.

I can relate to this.

I am the same way, and I have been playing FE since the second phase of closed beta . Normally when I beta test a game extensively, I have issues with getting bored in the final product. FE has not left me feeling that way at all.

Haha, funny. I can see where you're coming from, but if more people don't sub the game's probably toast like Tabula Rasa, Hellgate, and so many before it. It would be nice if it had a sugar daddy like Sony backing it for 2 years while it polished up like Vanguard. :P It would be nice if we had an estimate of the population. The Social (O) panel doesn't provide much info since it's random and limited to like 15 chars. Best estimate I could get was over 600 players before sunrise. Any more info on this?

Somewhat talking out of my ass, but I'd rather someone steal my loot every once and a while (and hey, make some friends) than play alone finding out the servers are shutting down.

Fe is not a kiddie park game, I came from along line of mmos, played alot over the years, WoW ,Aion of course but FE gives me the feel of a real virtual World that slowly progresses into greatness unlike the kiddie porn instant glory IIl pat you on your back for scraching your ass type of games like WoW and Aion, Not saying its bad that your like your hand held but there comes a time where to feel a sense real accomplishment you got to work for it, unlike 90% of the mmos out todate.

What Fe has done is bring the old back, before all the PS3/Xbox /Console elitest came with there instant glory train of mind that WoW mainstreamed to the teenage console players.

Leave FE to the bigboys, besides WoW called, they need a healer for there next Raid!!! goodluck!

Echo of my own thoughts, really :) Slightly different list of games which disappointed me but the same overall idea. In sector two now at level 24 and the goodness hasn't let off yet.
