An Epidemic of Fear: How Panicked Parents Skipping Shots Endangers Us All http://www.wired.com/magazine/2009/10/ff_waronscience/ the question is about the risk, are the risks of being vaccinated better or worse than the risk of not being vaccinated. |

It's also a matter of fact 65-70% of people injected with a flu vaccine just get a flu. Pregnant and asmatic people are usually not vaccinated by flu vaccine due to the effect of the vaccines and now these population are the main target while it's proven the vaccine hasn't been tested on pregnant animals...

source please. Also why is this a reason not to be vaccinated? is all the vaccines infected? Or even what is the risk that the one you are given is infected? That is without dealing with the benefits of preventing a pandemic.
could i please see some stats on this?
source please. Is the flu they get the one they are vaccinated for? Is is a recent modifation of the one they were vaccinated for? Are the symptoms of the same severity as if they had not been vaccinated?
you seem to be poorly informed. from here http://www.cdc.gov/FLU/protect/keyfacts.htm regarding the seasonal flu vaccene.
additionally, how does a lack of testing on pregnant animals imply that people are at a greater risk?
LMAO! I have been warned by a poorly informed scare mongered. Let me guess if i don't forward this on to 20 of my friends in the next 20 minutes some one i know will have a baby that will develop Autism! |

none of the stats i asked for and with freedom of choice agenda. Also you are starting to overlay "the threat of mandatory vaccinations" over "The threat of Mandatory H1N1 vaccinations". Flu shots are voluntary. also, the same unsupported editorial I have seen elsewhere.
this is a terrible site for referencing, just a collection of unsorted and unreferenced news articles. nothing to do with science, facts or statistics. Sorry, i am probably wrong, somewhere in amongst the lies and the the editorialized fear mongering there may be some details, i hope you forgive me for not wading though all that shit.
both sides have an agenda and are willing to lie, can't watch-too painful.
what? the fact they may have some condition that affect this choice doesn't matter? |

What people need to understand about vaccinations and viruses is that it is ultimately up to your immune system, and viral mutation either way. A virus is simply a set of instructions telling your cells what to do. It is unknown whether or not it is a living thing. Science has not yet come to the point where we can effectively treat viruses. Even when we attempt to reprogram viruses, they still alter their reprograming because it is in the nature of viruses to adapt. They constantaly mutate and adapt regardless of what we throw at them.
Are vaccines in general harmful? NO. Though there are mistakes made and batches recalled, this is not the rule it is the exception. Vaccines have saved many lives over the years, and are one of our only defenses against viruses at this time. They are necessary to help prevent the spread of disease, and can save your life if used properly. Though I do strongly disagree with mandatory vaccination. Should everyone be vaccinated? NO. If you have certain conditons, it can be quite harmful to receive vaccinations. If you have already been infected with the virus it is pointless to be vaccinated, and the more a virus is exposed to a vaccine, the increased probability of mutation against the vaccine itself, increasing the probability that the vaccine could be rendered useless in cases where it is greatly needed to be effective( high risk for death). Can you still catch the virus after vaccination? YES. The vaccination only triggers an immune system response in order to help your body react better to the virus in a weakened state. If your immune system does not respond properly, you can still get sick from the virus. The virus can also mutate against the vaccine and you may still come down with the virus as well, Vaccines are curently our only real defense against viruses, so we work with what we have. For the most part, the influenza vaccine should be taken by those at high risk for complications or death from getting sick. I do not reccommned it for the general public in most cases, because this strengthens the virus and results in more vaccine immune strains of the virus due to it's high mutation rate. Bottom line is your immune system is the best defense you have. Take care of your immune system, it is what keeps you alive! Having just recovered from H1N1 myself, I have no need for a vaccine. I had the severe secondary infections, but most people have mild or no symptoms. If you do come down with H1N1, you should make sure you are constantly monitored, as conditions can get severe quickly. Drink plenty of clear fluids, closely monitor fever, and seek medical treatment to ensure you are properly taking care of yourself. Do NOT just take meds and go to sleep, check fever at least every 2 hours throughout the nights if your symptoms are severe to ensure it is not rising rapidly. Alternate Motrin and Tylenol to keep fever down if it rises too fast. It is the secondary infections that are dangerous. The KEY is to treat it aggressively at the first sign of symptoms, do NOT take a wait and see position with H1N1, as that has proven deadly. If you suspect that you may have H1N1, if you seek medical attention within the first 48 hours of showing symptoms, you can take Tamiflu to help slow the spread of the virus in your body. This is not a Vaccine, nor is it a cure, it just helps slow the spread, and can help you from getting too sick. However, it MUST be taken within the first 48 hours or it is not effective. |

Good information in here, thanks for sharing. I would also remind people that hardly any perfectly healthy people have died from the flu. I have yet to see a single story about someone in their 30's that is perfectly healthy succumb to H1N1. I work in the biotech/life science field, and these flu manufacturers are all big pharma companies. They have a VAST marketing reach, and their salespeople are trained to scare physicians into buying their products. My wife is pregnant, and multiple biotech companies sell products like First Screen, and other genetic tests. These tests give you ZERO information, and only indicate possible likelihoods that your child has defects. Make no mistake about it, the big pharma companies are not at all concerned with your health, and will turn billions in profit off of everyone flocking to a vaccine that isn't even designed after this current strain of H1N1. These labs recreate mutations of influenza viruses, then match these mutations to the H1N1 strain. These matches are never 100%, and are never guaranteed to work. I know this, because I sell instruments to labs at Chiron and other vaccine manufacturers. In fact, most of the PhD's I deal with think that H1N1 will kill LESS people than the regular flu does every year (about 80,000). I have talked to biochemists, pediatricians and many other professionals about this. The best advice they give is eat right, wash hands constantly, maintain clean living standards with anti-bacterial cleaning agents, get plenty of sleep & stay active. I would much prefer these activities than injecting myself with mercury. I would wager that mercury poisoned this women, and lead to her extremely rare mental disorder: http://www.myfoxdc.com/dpp/health/101309_woman_disabled_by_flu_shot_reaction_dystonia

This is completely political. Its an attempt to deface the Obama Administration because Obama was behind destributing the H1N1 Vaccine. |

I too have such thoughts i must admit but i would rather risk the vaccine and get a milder flu attack rather than getting a full attack. Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981 |

Originally posted by JestorRodo It appears you misunderstand the use of vaccine. If your child is ALREADY running fever they cannot give your child a vaccine regardless of what Obama has to say about it. A vaccine is either the dead or a weakened live virus that you give to healthy individuals in order to trigger an immune system response to the virus before they are exposed to the full blown virus. If your child is already sick, it is too dangerous to give them a vaccine on top of whatever illness he may already have. What they can give him is Tamiflu, but this is only effective within the first 48 hours of showing symptoms, if he has been having symptoms longer than 48 hours, Tamiflu is ineffective. Tamiflu is NOT a cure, nor is it a vaccine. It is simply a medication that can helpslow the spread of the virus in the body, and is not always effective either. The best thing you can do for your child is to make him drink plenty of water and monitor him closely. If his conditions worsen , or he has trouble breathing, take him to the ER if you have to, but make sure he is being cared for properly 24 hours a day. If the fever rises within 3 hours of taking either Tylenol or Motrin( both regular strength), You can start alternating Tylenol and Motrin every 3 -4 hours at his recommended dosage depending on how high his fever rises in between dosages. Only do this if his fever is greatly rising rapidly before the 4-6 hour dosing periods. You also need to have popscicles ready, and if his temperature will not go down, you can give him popscicles and a lukewarm bath in order to cool him down. It is also good to have a good nasal spray handy, in case he needs to have his air passages blown open. If he is having severe congestion, childrens mucinex mini melts is one of the best things you can give him. The Orange creme flavor is the best tasting. link: www.drugstore.com/qxp170528_333181_sespider/mucinex_kids/cough_expectorant_mini_melts_orange_creme.htm Remember to make him drink plenty of water, even if he doesn;t want to, the best thing you can do is flush the virus out. Have Gatorade or pedialyte ready as well. IF he starts having loose stools, Gatorade or pedialyte can help prevent dehydration. If he starts having stomache problems, give him rice. Rice is one of the most platable foods, and will be easier on his stomach. A good way to make rice taste good for children so they will eat it, is to take one can Campbells Chicken with Rice soup , one can of minute rice , and one can of water. Bring it to a boil and cook until rice is soft. Let cool down before serving.
Remember to watch him closely, do not just give him meds and send him to bed, check on him every couple of hours throughout the night and make sure his fever isn't rising rapidly, that he is breathing okay, is well hydrated, and is comfortable. Watching him closely is key if he has come down with H1N1. If he gets worse do not second guess yourself, take him to the hospital or doctors office, it is better to be safe than sorry. Good luck, I hope he feels better soon. |

Although everyone should read devillscious answer as she's 100% right and honestly anybody with half a brain can see he knows what she's speaking about. If you read well he's not against vaccines but as most experts he's against mass vaccination. clicky for more information Also the confirmed cases are in fact 2-20% of what is officially stated clicky If your chlid really has a flu the best you can do to help him is do all what devillscious wrote and certainly not infect him with any vaccine that would only put more stress on his already solicited immune system. Look, we just want you and your child to be fit. Ask yourself the following question: what would be our interest to have you and million of others persons be sick and spread a virus that we would someday get? You might think we are misinformed, if so, check the links I provided, use google and crosscheck everything. And if you still don't know follow the money. Do not react by fear but use your intuition. And as always when there is a doubt at least a part of it is true.

So far around 5000 have die from the virus: www.ubalert.com/a/11377 But to me, i think we raise such an alarm over this virus is because we don't really know what it will do, how much damage it'll cause, and how this virus will continue to mutate. But i still believe its just another seasonal flu, just a new type...

An Epidemic of Fear: How Panicked Parents Skipping Shots Endangers Us All
Is this a parody..? Were they trying to be clever, or are they serious? Oh noes, your neighbor didn't get the shot.. THEY DIDN'T GET THE SHOT! Call the POLICE!! OMG.. GET TO THE PANIC ROOM!!!
I also really adore the folks who take on the "Necessary Sacrifice" and the "End justifies the Means" approach, because they care about your health and your child of course. How nice of those who care, thank you so much.. I appreciate your compassion.... There are a lot of people banking serious cash from this manufactured MEDIA DRIVEN EPIDEMIC of Fear. |

did you guys actually read the article? It is not about the H1N1 vaccination. It is about the interest groups that say all vaccination is bad for you. Are you saying that we should stop polio vaccinations? That is what is in the article itself. The reason I posted it is that the linked video in the OP has a lot these advocates in it. People that want you to not vaccinate against crippling diseases that we no longer see because of widespread vaccination programs. These advocates are given a stronger voice in the current climate of media driven fear over the swine flu shot. Fear in the media is what currently sells. We are seeing less about terrorism or the 'economic meltdown' because it is no longer so immediate. When swineflu came out, it was a media godsend. First 'everyone will die from swineflu' and then 'everyone will die from swineflu immunization schemes'. Also you can appeal to American conservatives with "the government is forcing you to have a shot!" and American liberals with "the corporations just want to experiment on you for the money!". Sure immunization for the swineflu has debatable advantages over the disadvantages, however vaccination itself is a proven technology that has saved lives and prevented a lot crippling disease. Be careful to not let a fear of the minor likelihood of a negative outcome from swineflu immunization lead to more people refusing widespread immunization of deadly and crippling disease. |
