I like space combat. Not space grinding, accounting and taxi service. |
In an epic battle. The heroes of Azeroth battle against the collective array of spaceships from far, far away. An armada arrives at the planet where the heroes of Azeroth remained helplessly below. Opening fire, a collective of the four rival faction ships from the EVE universe open fire and bombard their common enemy below. Rewarded with a reign of rain upon the planet before it was lit in a fiery blaze. Victory was to the Armada... ... ... ... ... ...Or so they thought. Two galactic days later. A distress call from a ship was broadcast from a near by solar system. Screams of aid were shouted before suddenly silenced. That was only the beginning. Another ship came by in one of the protected sectors. Reporting a strange energy field was created from within the ship. It could only be described as a portal to... any where. Another world, another galaxy, another dimension in the fabric of time! Then their greatest fears as an army marched through that very portal and crew members were bursting into flames. Civilian passengers were stabbed and brutally murdered as green monsters boarded the ship. It wasn't long before the entire crew were deceased and the ship was left floating in space. Unmanned. A week later. Factions were blaming each other for the spread of this mysterious plague that was causing them to lose ships to. Corporations were frightened at the very thought and steered clear from any travellers who mentioned the place this plague may have come from. Soon mistrust turned to panic. Spaceships of same factions were even firing upon each other. Explosions and debris littered the view of stars. A laugh was heard over the intercom: "You can run, but WE you cannot hide from. Cry for mercy. The reckoning has come!"

While most will vote Science-fantasy option just for the lulz, I can imagine a Hellsing-style MMO that takes place in these modern days quite fun. Imagine being a badass vampire, crashing with your Blackbird inside an enemy's base then use your mystical vampire powers, transformations and even darker abilities to dispose of your enemies. |

Id say it is as an EvE armada would rather enslave the population after destroying each majour city first or if total destruction without more than a secons warning lauch a certain rare blue ore into the sun and cause it to blow up. Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. Titan + doomsday = Azeroth gone :)
I love both worlds and both storylines to be fair. I am all up for Fantasy Science!

Nice to see an interesting post after what looked to be a horrible troll title. A bit of humour is always appreciated.
Assuming that magic doesn't have to follow any laws of physics such as mass conservation (i.e. turning a 200 pound human into a 50 pound sheep) then magic will generally triumph. But, it would be an interesting fight.

WoW VS. Eve, kinda unfair... eve has this massive ships like doomsdag or w/e, wow has, humans and, orcs, but that wouldnt be fair would it, lets get some more powerfull WoW creatures, what about Ysera or Alexstraza, from the green and red dragon aspect? nah still not fair, deathwing? the most powerfull dragon of the dragon aspects? would be a nice visual to see deathwing vs. an eve ship. Eve and Wowers, WoW lore goes deep, the dragonflight (even deathwing) has a creator, the Titans... Sargeras would only have to look at Eve's prescious doomsdag and it would go up in flames... or the let alone the whole Pantheon, all titans except sargeras... they are the Gods in WoW, how are you going to defeat Gods, they don't just live on azeroth, they don't just show up...

The problem here is that Azeroth has magic. The problem with magic is that it tends to do exactly what the plot needs it to do, even if it was specific mentioned that whatever it is the magic is doing specifically can't be done (esspecially in Harry Potter). Thus it's entirely possible to say that the scroll of all spaceships turn into pink bunny factories and explode drops from some boss in some dungeon. Problem solved. Science Fiction on the other hand has to remain bound to it's own fictional science unless of course that science is time travel which once again can be used to solve any problem even that problem is specifcally cited as unsolvable by time travel. Once again this make Harry Potter notable as one of the few fictions to spackle plot holes using magic AND time travel AT THE SAME TIME, other wise known as Deus-Ex Double Trouble. Bottum line: in a fight between WoW and EvE... f''in Harry Potter would win in the most dissatisfying way imaginable. And we would all die a little inside. I'm depressed now, and it's all the OP's fault. This was fun. Thank you for the laugh. I chose Science Fantasy! The best of both worlds, no? I just had this vision of Jedi fighting Mages. Needless to say, the Jedi did not fare well.
