Greetings,

Is anyone running the game on Windows 7 (now the OS is released) seeing the raindrops or is it the same issue as with Vista?

Also, has anyone discovered a fix for rain under Vista, knowing that SOE won't implement any correction in the near future?

I don't get it, why come here and ask that question when you can actually go to the main forums and do a search?

These forums are not the Vanguard forums, their is very little info you can get here, what's the point.

Ill do what you are to lazy to do,just the once knowing that next time you will actually move your fingers..

I was testing VG on my new PC running Windows 7 and I saw rain. I was at Elaini outpost.

I was using GeForce GTX 295 and the driver that came with it. It was not the latest 181.22 driver, but 180.xx (sorry, do not remember the exact version number, I am at work now).

Oh, and I also wanted to thank the original poster and others about the performance tips, this has been very informative thread!

I will definitely give the RAM drive a try.

Even so,you still might not see it.I think the drivers and the card have something to do with it because some people are still saying they can't see it while others say they can, guess it's a 50-50 shot in the dark.

OP, i have played VG up to 3 months ago on Vista and i cant see the rain, so its not just a 7 issue, if there is one with 7.

The rain is there, it's just not possible to see it on Vista OS with higher resultions (1400x1050) and up. No fix except you lower down the resolution.

@ Billynomates

Actually I went to the VG forums but could not find the information I was looking for since some people do see rain with Vista while others don't, without really identifying what makes the difference.

And usually very good advice and tips are posted on mmorpg.com forums (sometimes more than on official forums). Therefore, there is no need in calling me "lazy".

Back on topic:

With regards to the rain issue apparently the guy from SIGIL who did the coding optimized it for DirectX 9.0 without compatibility with DirectX 10. With Vista there is a built-in DirectX 9.0 that should allow older games to work but for some reason it doesn't with Vanguard.

I also lowered my settings and still cannot see the raindrops. I ran the game in XP compatibility mode to no avail. (I even tweaked the target under the shortcut properties as suggested on one forum). Therefore, I was hoping that the built-in directX 9.0 from Windows 7 would somehow solve the issue as Vanguard with no rain is a real pitty.

I run the game on NVidia GTX285.

Here you go, official statement:

"Thank you again to all the people who sent me the information to help out in finding the cause of this issue. We were able to replicate this issue today 4/4/2008 on our Vista machines. It seems the cause is the higher game resolutions of 1600+. Some lower resolutions may still not show as well. The rain is drawing in however it is too small for the eye to see. There has been a bug report from QA submitted for this issue. Hopefully in the next few updates we can get this resolved. Again thank you for your help and patience on this issue. Any questions or concerns you can always PM me and I will try to get back to you in a timely manner."

This statement is from 2008 and the Dev team confirmed afterwards that no fix will be implemented as it is not on their priority list (I believe it was from one of the "Ask the devs" sessions on the official VG forums).

Sorry but you are a douche. This is as good a place as any to ask for the info you need without someone like you giving them attitude.

As for being special, you are right. Far too many people like you out there unfortunally. Best way to deal with that is use the wonderful ignore features
