Today, I received two mails. The first was "Battle.net Account - Password Change Notice‏" , but still, I hadn't changed my password, being out all the day. That e-mail was quite confusing. Then, I was breathless as I saw the second : "World of Warcraft -- Account Closure Notification -- Exploitative Activity Found‏".

Looks like I was doing exploitative activities and didn't even know!

No, seriously, is there any chance of getting my account back? : (

(I sent a message to blizz support explaining the situation)

This is fairly common and you will get your account back once you can prove "you are you."

Its safe to say tho that your stuff is gone. You might get it back, or some of it after they do an investigation.

Also, a phone call may move things more quickly.

Honestly, what is it worth to you?

First, try contacting Blizzard.  If that doesn't work, ask yourself how much $ this account is worth to you.

If you decide that it is, in fact, worth money (maybe an account since launch, lots of gold, etc), contact an attorney.  Blizzard must keep records of the IP address that logs into every account.  If you can bring a suit against Blizzard saying their system is not secure and that you in fact were hacked due to their negligence, then it might be worth it for you.

Outside of that, I don't know much you can do.

If I were you, I'd try contacting Blizzard first, ask to speak to a supervisor, etc...Ask them what IP they have logged...blah blah blah...demonstrate it's not your IP and have your ISP willing to say that, but in the end, without a threat of some legal pushing, it's their call.

Have you tried logging in since you got the emails? What you are describing sounds a lot like the emails discussed in www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/256822/Fake-emails.html.

Jsut call the blizzard billing department. One of my accounts was breached way back, and It was easy to get them to get it back for me. They unlocked it by phone, saying someone else had logged into it from another location. Then I changed my password ect. I later found out it was an addon relaying my password info.So yeah usually it just takes a call and its fixed the same day.

Worthless advice, and a waste of time and money.

Blizzard has no liability when it comes to accounts being hacked, it is the users responsibility to maintain account safety. The only way this account was hacked, was by way of keylogger, or the user was phished. Period.

Neither of which Blizzard is responsible for. Read the ToS.

As per standard practice in the customer service industry, Blizzard will not divulge information relating to the IP of another user, that is a violation of privacy laws. Threats of legal pushing will get you nowhere.

Do you really think that if you were to hire an attorney and file a suit against a massive corporation (backed by an even bigger affiliate corporation) that you're one lowball lawyer is going to somehow be able to oust Blizzards dream team of attorneys?

Wake up.

Bingo!

This is exactly how to handle the situation, contact Billing and Account Services by phone on Monday and they will be able to assist you with restoring access to your account.

Like the previous posters said contact Customer Support and they should get all your items and gold back for you. I got one of my WOW accounts hacked 2 weeks ago  after Mozilla Firefox updated itself with a sneaky addon from Microsoft. If you aren't familiar with it here is the link to it  www.tomsguide.com/us/Firefox-Microsoft-Mozilla-Browser-Plug-In,news-4888.html

Exactly!!! Although I would have been a bit more diplomatic in making the point that bringing a law suit against Blizzard for something they are not accountable for is silly talk.

Now to the OP : as others have said once you contact the billing support by phone, getting your account back is fast and simple.  Your items and gold will take a little while to get back (typically somewhere around 5-7 days... 'tho it could be a bit shorter or longer than that).

On another note if you plan on playing for a while longer, invest in getting a blizzard authenticator.  It is a great little device which will make your account  hack proof (well, it could still be hacked but highly unlikely).  They are sold on the blizzard store for $6.50, so  for less than a months worth of subscription you get added protection.

All you got to do is contact them by phone. They will reset your password and unlink your BN. Once all that is done log on and contact a GM. It might take a few hours but they will get you all your stuff back even your gold.

Warning you been scam by not blizzard but by some one else..That email you got if you hit reply you will see that it will give a different mailing address back to the sender..Example..Instead WOW@Blizzard.com..Once you hit reply look where the email being sent>> here the scam part>> it will say WOW@Blizzrrd.com the difference is there no "A" in Blizzrrd it was replace with a "R"So once you hit send..It would go to WOW@BlizzRrd.com and not to the real WOW@BlizzArd.com I had the same thing done to me..Except i caught it when i hit reply the return address was spelled wrong BLIZZRRD..

I might not be all ways right, but i am never wrong..

Oh lord - just contact blizzards support team and they will right it within a week or so - that's about how long it took when my account got hacked - they replenished my items and stuff as well...

Same thing happened to a friend of mine . The good news is Blizzard are pretty well run when it comes to things like this . I ve had these phishing emails before . They can look official but the tricks not to respond to them through a link on an email just go to the official site and click the link there . Hopefully it should all be sorted soon and you ll get all your gear back .
