I had the most awesome email sent to me today:

Greetings!
This is an automated notification regarding the recent change(s)
made to your World of Warcraft account. Your password has recently been modified through the Password Recovery website.
*** If you made this password change, please disregard this notification. However, if you did NOT make changes to your password
we recommend you Login verify your password:
http://www.worldofwararcrft.com
If you are unable to successfully verify your password .
using the automated system, please contact Billing & Account Services at 1-800-59-BLIZZARD (1-800-592-5499) Mon-Fri, 8am-8pm Pacific Time or at billing@blizzard.com. Account security is solely the responsibility of the account holder. Please be advised that in the event of a compromised account, Blizzard representatives typically must lock the account. In these cases the Account Administration team will require faxed receipt of ID materials before releasing the account for play.

Yeah, happened to me today, but i didn't change my password... That mail was followed by another one by blizz telling me that my account was banned...

edit: Just re-read yours. Not really the same situation, but yet, mine is frustrating as all hell

I have been getting these emails 2 to 4 times a day for last 2 months and you know whats the best part about it?

I don't even have WOW account. lol

I got one too but me they said that they suspect my account to be sold and they asked me to give all my personal information even my password and the cd key to be sure i was the owner of the account and if i didnt give them my info i will be banned.

Seriously did they fool people like this?

Looks like someone is really desperate and just sending these emails out like crazy, regardless of whether people have WOW account or not.

Another fake e-mail i receive, saying i have been chosen to participate in the close beta of Cata, and i ned to log in to the link provided with my id and password... Delete it straight away...

The main issue is that they have your actual email account. Cracking a email account is not that hard. The amount of protection that we use to play WoW is pretty amazing.
