I would like to find a persistent space simulation universe that allows you to pilot small ships up to massive capitol ships. EVE is out the door due to the excessive time required to reach the game play I would like to experience and the failure penalties that can set you back months of play time is another turn off. I doubt the game I want is out there, but if someone knows of one, I would appreciate finding out about it. Asheron's Call, Champions Online, Dark Age of Camelot, EVE Online, EverQuest, Lineage 2, Star Wars Galaxies and World of Warcraft.Playing EVE again. |

Other than flying a capital ship, what aspect of EVE did you want to get into that takes more than a month to have access to?

There's Taikodom, which has nothing to do with Japanese drums despite the name. i had problems with the flight simulator aspects and the frequent lag, but it doesn't seem bad otherwise and it IS a freebie. |

there's always Homeworld (not an MMO though). otherwise in development: Star Trek Online, Jumpgate Evolution, Black Prophecy, and no doubt others |

Maybe check out vendetta online? |

You can try the X series of games. I would reccomment either X2 or X3-The threat. Seems exactly the kind of game you are looking for. |

I second this, even tho there are only like 40-50 players online at a time you get to know everyone they have a great community. and if you dont mind single player then yes the X series is amazing. Check youtube for some videos |

I just tried Taikodom its not bad for an action space shooter I guess. From what I can tell online it looks like they are trying to recreate EVE as an action shooter. Not my cup of tea right now, though I hope they do well, EVE needs some competition. I need something I can't find Thanks all for your suggestions, I look into the others soon Asheron's Call, Champions Online, Dark Age of Camelot, EVE Online, EverQuest, Lineage 2, Star Wars Galaxies and World of Warcraft.Playing EVE again. |

im also looking for good space shooter: what about air rivals aka space cowboys aka ace online? is it any good, i mean graphics, fight, community, server population? (mmo ofcourse) |

No you're wrong what they are doing is creating an FPS for consoles that takes place in the EvE universe and on the current EvE servers... However, everything you have said you are after in a game so far, the only MMO like that currently is EvE, however star Trek Online will hopefully have what your after, as will Star Wars, Knights of the old republic However, if you want to see what Eve has to offer, message me in game (Tyr Dominator) and I'll give you a hand) |

I don't know much about this kind of games, but I can tell you one thing. Don't even try space cowboys. Looking for awesome free MMO? Try The Chronicles of Spellborn! My TCoS gallery. |

Uh, Taikodom ( http://www.taikodom.com/ ) is a Brazilian made F2P MMO which is being localized for the US market. It has a lot of potential, but until there is a local server it is very laggy for non South American players. It is a more action based MMO in space. I spent a good time playing it over the summer after it was announced for the US and I intend on seeing how the localization goes once released. You are thinking of DUST which is an EvE branch off FPS. An entirely different kind of beast. |

jumpgate is still active, but just barely. Vendetta online is nice, if ya don't mind that this space sim has no shields. and freelancer discovery mod, i believe your gonna need the freelancer CD, on top of that those guys have modded just about Every aspect of the game except the fact there are a lot of rules that all mmo's take for granted that you cannot do on Freelancer(it was made as a single player game not a mmo) there is also instantaction.com
i liked the ace of aces game. To Protect The Helpless From The Heartless |

interesting you should say that you want a space mmo. as do i (f2p o course). Just the other day I was on here and there was an ad for one but through a series of happenings i closed the window on accident and i refreshed mmorpg.com for 25 minutes and couldn't find the ad :( the game looked worth trying. |
