Sorry for this bit of thread necromancy. But I still need an answer. I tried DDO - was pretty bad. Currently I'm back playing WoW, for lack of a better option. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me hear 'em. I also tried Chronicles of Spellborn - it didn't even install. It just crashed my computer. :P |

Considered Fallen Earth? |

If i am correct AoC has a censored edition with no nudity but there still is gore but in most games what does not. Also if you want to try a nice turn based mmo I find dofus entertaining :) |

Err... One fairly important thing I forgot to mention... I'm fourteen - so there is no way in hell my parents would let me play Age of Conan. And no I'm not one of those super-noob whiny 14-yr-olds you'd see in Orgrimmar spamming you with "gold plz" messages. So don't even go there. |

Gotta say, they are doing everything they can to bring AoC back. Lets hope they are able to pull it off because when that game came out I was praying it would become my new MMO. It failed at the start, but that doesn't mean they can't turn it around. Especially with the new starting zone they are making in the expansion. -Computer specs no one cares about: check. -MMOs played no one cares about: check. -Xfire stats no one cares about: check. -Signature no one cares about: check. ------------------------------------------------------------ |

Try Darkfall after November expansion. You may like it. I would propose Mortal Online if it will make it to the launch, but it has full nudity and it is quite gory. |

I want a more "RPGy" MMO combat system :( Strategy > Speed ftw. Too bad the ADD kids won't like it :( |

Originally posted by bloodaxes that game was fun, had a summoner and a blade... err. the crazy sword wielder.. my Hellgate is a bit rusty. did like the ranged combat to though, was a neat game |

The Chronicles of Spellborn's combat system is a bit more action oriented. You may like that. Check it out. |

I would recommend eve - its not really "actiony" but it sure does get the adrenalin pumping :) Although its not pumped with action it has a different feat. that not many other MMO's have - which is that in eve u actally have to use ur brain and think about what ur doing, since death will often leave a massive hole in ur wallet. |

I have Darkfall now! |
Darkfall....if you want action like no other MMO.....thats the MMO to play. But wait until the November "expansion". |

He speaks the truth! I play as well. There really is nothing like it. Definitely a much more "actiony" MMO. |

If his parents won't let him play AoC or Fallen Earth, then I doubt they'd let him play Darkfall. As far as an actiony mmo goes, I can't think of anything else already mentioned except for Dragonica, Maplestory, or one of the other sidescrollers. Even though the graphics in Dragonica were too cute, it was rather fun playing it with a gamepad. Edit: grammar. -------- The most awesomest after school special T-shirt: |

Actually, EQ pioneered the click and watch combat style, NOT WoW. Their were games before it believe it or not. EDIT: Erased the rest, several already mentioned it. TCoS. |

Why? Its not rated M. I doubt it is any more violent than WAR or WoW. Both of which I've played. Come on people, I'm fourteen - not ten. |

darkfall :D I just want friends! |

Well, you could always ask them to let you play Darkfall if you want to. It is actiony, but there are a lot of players that use programs that let them move faster, auto-loot, or go through terrain. If that doesn't bother you then you can give it a shot. -------- The most awesomest after school special T-shirt: |

in the month that i played Darkfall, i only saw one obvious cheat. it has quite a few awesome and unique things going for it and ALOT of terrible & grindy aspects (at least when i played, i hear its been reduced). altho being 14 and currently subscribing to an MMO, you obviously have some type tolerance for grind. 8)
if you are looking for an immersive world, scratch Planetside off the list. its basically just a Battlefield type game with more players. while technically it does have a virtual world with multiple public zones you can freely travel between, its really kind of pointless, because you wanna go wherever people are currently fighting. there's NO reason to explore its unimmersive zones with what seems like randomly generated terrain and bases that all look pretty much alike. there's no NPCs, quests, towns, or really anything associated with the term MMO, other than the fact that it can have more players fighting in an area than the Battlefield type of games.
the main point of posting..... Neocron is one i didn't see anyone mention. Neocron 2, is not a sequel. it should have been called Neocron 2.0 to avoid any potential confusion. Neocron 1, Neocron 2....its different names for the same game. The End |

somebody else mentioned this but didn't mention the names of these games:
if you like dogfighting in space/air, i hear Jumpgate (the original, not the still unreleased JG:Evolution) and Ace Online (f2p), have action combat. never played them, so maybe they aren't even real MMOs for all i know. not my cup of tea.
for future titles of this type, as well as Jumpgate Evolution, the Neocron developers are working on Black Prophecy.
i read this whole thread hoping to learn of an action based, & immersive true MMO. since i rarely check out all the asian ones and they don't get any coverage to speak of, something like that might slip past me some day. if anybody knows of or sees such a thing in the future, please shoot me a private message. 8) or if you have the interest/skills to work on one with me (in C#). 8)
(already tried and discarded TCoS, FE, DF, Endless Ages, Dragonica, and D&DO (well its free so i occasionally jump in) ). The End |
Originally posted by corpusc How is Planetside not a Massively Multiplayer Online FPS? You don't play Planetside seeking a world to explore. You play it seeking the game with the most epic battles you've ever experienced. Possibly not enough players for that to be the case nowadays, but I've played games ~25 years now and haven't found a more epic gaming experience. Personally I felt PS's continents reflected real-world terrain quite a bit better than most games I've played with open worlds. In the past whenever I decried PS's base design as unimaginative and terrible I would always make a point of mentioning the fact that at least the world level design was solid. I may be sorta harsh on EVE, but damn is this a cool trailer (EVE Dominion). |

WoW did not pioneer that kind of combat, but to answer your question, Dungeons and Dragons online makes Champions Online combat look slow. So look into it. |

In my opinion, Guild Wars has the best combat system of the games that use the more traditional skill-use approach. Anything new is refreshing and welcome. Playing: EvE |
