yep, Aion is the best MMO - for some

now, I'm going back to LotRO :)

You know, I am currently enjoying Aion, but I wouldn't call it the best MMO ever.

Well, it might be the best MMO ever for YOU, and that's cool, but for me it is just an entertaining game... good, but not the best in my opinion.

I am curious about the MMO's I haven't heard of.  Care to share?  Were these any good?  Did they actually make it to release?

Why do people post huge lists of games theyve played like its a badge of honor?

say youve been mmorpg'ing since 2000 or whatever, all the log list does, is give the appearance that you played each game a short period of time, meaning you lack in dephth knowledge.  Personally im more impressed with people who have played a few games for a really long time...they are usualy the pros (pro refering to the game as a whole not uberleet pvper who botted to endgame and the use a gold farmer to get the gear)

Aion is fun, but its nothing special, it does get dry untill the abyss, not sure 35+ but everyone tells me theres really no point not to just grind in the abyss, other than boredome.

Next step: how is aion at endgame? not like how it is for the few who get there first but when the bulk of the game gets there...will it hold players or be full of laggy and buggy endgame versions of what everyone doing right now?

Small list of GOOD Mmo's you've played for an extensive amount of time surpasses large list of mmos that you played briefly.

Also proper English please.

(Also you should probably remove Runescape from the list, wearing it as a merit is a bad idea)

Alot of the WoW kids wont be able to handle a game like Aion. Their used being handed free epics and instance meaningless PvP. Thankfully Aion has none of those features, its a game made for the MMO purist.

OP there's is a reason AION was reviewed as the best game ever released on this very site.... everyone in Aion is having a blast!

aion doesn't hold a candle to real mmo games, like daoc, eq, or AO, heck Wow is better than aion, and i didn't really like Wow all that much.

the only reason Aion was reviewed as the best game ever released is more likely because the reviewer was a fanboy and suckered by NCsofts promises to make a good western version of Aion.

when in fact Aion is still way too much like every other asian grinder out there, they just made the quests worth more, but didn't make the game anymore fun or interesting.

Of course every dude can add " IMO", but look at the many  features not in this game that are ALREADY in Wow 2009 from which it was a copycat.

 What Exactly is Aion best at? On my way up to lvl17 I didn't see anything new, only restrictive gameplay and a guided tour along the themepark.

Everything in Aion has been done before and better in other games. The only thing that Aion has going for it is that it is polished and runs well on most computers. Most gamers today find that pressing 123 for 8 hours straight to get 1/4 of a level isn't hardcore or difficult or innovative. It doesn't make you hardcore or skilful, it just shows that you have way too free time.

Aion has been released for 1+ year now. It hasn't just "been released". 

Not even a year out in the east plus it's considered "new" here because aion here was launched with the older version then they updated on it.

Aion has been released for 1+ year now. It hasn't just "been released". 

You're correct, my mistake.  However, I would assume there are major differences to the localized NA version other than text/voice acting.

Um, Aion isn't competing with the WoW that was released 5 years ago. It's competing with the WoW that people are playing right now. Some people just don't get it.

Lack of depth and Knowledge thats funny, I've played EQ since 1998 beta to 2006 you do the math plus WoW for 3 years , the rest were like max5-9 months of play, I played alot of these games not 1 at a time but sometimes 3-4 for testing purposes.

I don't need to further defend myself against people who really don't believe or care, so if you have nother constructive to say keep it to yourself and stop being a kid!

Um, Aion isn't competing with the WoW that was released 5 years ago. It's competing with the WoW that people are playing right now. Some people just don't get it.

This right here.  Stop trying to compare yourself to when the game launched in 2004. 

Aion is a fantastic looking game with alot going for it, however the horrible XP system, loot drop and grind is taking away from it.  Some better balance is what will keep this game on track and keep people playing.

Whats full of crap here? Nothing I can see. I enjoy Aion and people like yourself, who never played the game will have that same outlook on this game, however, people that HAVE played this game will generaly agree with me. Funny how you call this a Asain grinder, I would consider any mmo out there a grinder, if you know what to look for, so don't give me that crap about general logic, do you even know what that word means? My guess is No, you don't. To add to this little chat we are having, since you are defending WoW, you must be a WoW fanboy who enjoys getting stuff for basicly doing jack shit , and or your one of those people who a raid fails or a wipe happens and you call everyone around you nubs, and then rage quit the group.
 

As stated above, if you have nothing constructive to say, and just being idiotic and stupid in your comments don't say anything and stick to something you can do best.Before you comment further, may want to ask yourself, what other MMOS have you played and what justifies your experience and therefore criticize what others say about the game that they play, and oh yeah before I forget, WoW Does'nt count as a true MMO good luck with that.

Ugh. Why do I click on these strangely broad generalizing forum posts? Why…Because I'm absolutely bored with Aion at 24 and don't have the desire to grind another character again. Aion, just as WoW, simply builds on other formulas and enhances some. Man, I don't even like WoW, but comparing them is like saying Kobe Bryant is better than Peyton Manning simply because they are both athletes. You know how dirty I feel forcing me to defend WoW? Aion is as much of a grind as any other Korean import. There is, of course, the slight exception that it includes not only repetitive kill quests to encourage and break up the monotony, but also establishes a revolutionary system of “deliver x scroll to z person.” Does it do some things right? Absolutely. But everything has been done before.
And if you judge hardcore audiences by saying they are the ones that play this game then you are mistaken. No...Your toy is not shinier than everyone else...and you haven't uncovered proof that no one else realizes.  I think what you actually mean is that you enjoy it more personally, which is cool.  Personally,  I'm bouncing between 4 mmo's because  all lack something, even Aion.  It's just another game that does little to move mmo originality foreword. But then why would it? Every game is trying to tap into the WoW audience by making slightly different versions of OTHER games out there. Look at what originality gets you in this market? Whatever happened to PoBS and EVE? I'm too old to argue...and trying to prove a moot point because I’m bored. Oh well, back to Aion.
