I am looking for a decent free MMO to play. I am looking for something along the lines of Hero Online and Archlord. I want something where PVP is not necessary in order to level your character, but is offered for the times I get bored or want to protect myself. I really like Hero online with their huge giant treasure chest you find as loot and depending on the color what rareness of item(s) you might receive. I would still be playing this now if the bot problem had not gotten so out of hand. Also the community had degraded to the point of being a real PITA to have to get along with. So basically I am looking for opinions on what I might try next. I have also tried 9Dragons, Perfect World, 2 Moons, Shaiya, Last Chaos and a few others.

Check out atlantica or runes of magic.

The Chronicles of Spellborn is 100% atm.. no item-shop, nothing!! They are making some micro-payments to it for next year like in every f2p MMO. It has original combat/skill system and awesome graphics. I think you should check some videos in youtube.

I don't think DDO is free in Europe yet, as it is run by a different company...   I could be wrong on that but I'm sure when I went over the most you can get in Europe is a free 14 day pass

True, but europeans can play in US server.
