I helped over 300 new players in EvE, how many did you help ?

We will start off with Trond Evanger, a senior game designer at Aventurine. He's the person to talk to when it comes to skills, spells, item properties, and generally, the numbers behind Darkfall.

Trond had some very interesting things to talk about. First of all he told us that the first small steps towards racial differentiation are on their way and some racial skills will be introduced to the game with the upcoming expansion. For example, Orks will be dealing more damage with greataxes, humans will have longer nourishment duration from food and dwarves will be able to craft more durable armor.

We were also told that items will be receiving some adjustments to their stats so for example the heavier armors will be getting increased elemental protection, and weapons of high rank will be getting increased damage.

Crafting will also receive a bit more attention as the related skills will skill up faster when making higher rank items. This already happens for weapon crafting but now this will also apply to more crafting skills such as armor smithing and alchemy.

Lastly, Trond and Lars Erik have been working on a system that will apply a cool down to spells depending on their use. So, when casting a high damage AOE spell for example, all your AOE's will have a cool down applied. This, along with other changes, such as the mage killer shot, will help bring some much desired balance to the game.

Again, as things stand now, all these changes will be applied to the game with the Darkfall’s upcoming second Free Expansion.

Im happy to hear the game is getting more love, but I gotta wonder if they hired Ghostcrawler to do their racial balancing.

 

Orks doing more DPS = longer nourishment duration = crafting more durable armor? Amazing...

we dont know the value of this things so no idea of what = what

Just wish I knew the specifics of all the racial bonuses. I'd love to know what to start training up as a Mahirrim.

updates to crafting exp are great shame I already maxed alchemy only cost 20k in mats and crafting afk while playing cod4.

wonder what the racial bonus for elves will be. if mahirim get to sprint like mounts I'll be tempted to re-roll!

One of the reasons I chose Mahirim. That would be handy as hell.
 

Maybe it'll just end up 1H swords and shields, who knows?

 Good stuff on the magic cooldowns. I dont know though about racial differences at this point in the game. Its not like you can roll an alt. As long as they are not something gamebreaking it might be ok.

If I was a Human character, I wouldn't be too happy with the bonus they seem to be getting. If that's all they get in the end. You would hope it would be something more directly related to combat.

If I was a Human character, I wouldn't be too happy with the bonus they seem to be getting. If that's all they get in the end. You would hope it would be something more directly related to combat.

 

Humans were also suppose to get cheaper prices for skills, items, and other NPC sold stuff as well. Orcs are suppose to get Beseark that gives a special str and vit buff, alfar are suppose to be stronger with magic at night, Mirdain are suppose to be better with bows, dwarves hammers, I think humans get pole arms, wolves have better 1h sword and 4lr, etc. But all these racial abilities probably won't be game breaking.

Would be wicked changes and fine by me. I especially like the idea of having advantages being nocturnal.

Relax!

And dont mark words from the devs. The articke just give the general idea. When the expansion goes live, the devs will test it for a couple of weeks..get feedback, then change it so it will work in the game.

And we have known for four years that orcs would do more damage due to race aility! And Dwarves would craft the best armours, weapons.
