Was thinking of trying at least one of them....Gemstone IV, Dragon Realms, Modus Operandi...

First of all I'm not a fast typer so I'd have to hunt and peck......Any recommendations?...are they worth 14.95 a month to subscribe to?..thanks all in advance.

I've often wondered whether the cost of admission would be worth it, I suppose being paid back in a really incredibly good community and some unique events.  As a long-time text mudder, though, I have yet to pay for anything.

For something along the lines, at least as far as I can tell, of Simutronics I think the closest would be any of these http://www.ironrealms.com/ .  I've personally started a priest on achaea a few months back and he's only about level 12, and there is a rather complicated (to me!) set of tasks I must complete etc to even be considered more than an acolyte in my House.  It's definitely not your plain ROM/Diku clone.

Then there is the venerable Aardwolf  (http://www.aardwolf.com/) and the supernewbie phenomenon (running quests for quest points with experience turned off, and fully gearing out a level 1 - who then has a huge advantage in low level campaigns and PvP).

I think the number of folks even marginally interested in text muds on this site may now be up to 2 including you, so please let me know if you give simutronics a try.

How dare you present him with logic! Don't you understand? He fights epic fights, in epic games, with epic toons....eats epic food and takes epic dumps! He has more e..pic..icity...ness in his little finger than you have in your whole unepic body! - ChicagoCub

Simu has the best muds hands down IMO. I started out in Gemstone and quickly moved over to Dragonrealms in 1997, been there ever since. If you are set on trying one, I would suggest DR.
