EQII's weakest link on graphics is the outdoors areas and textures. BNotice the water looks like blue tin foil and the grass is more like play dough
here is LoTRO showing grass and water as a comparison |

While this page is a few years old, i guess new armor looks even better new screenshots you can probably find on the official EQ2 page. |

I really hope they will fix the animations and character graphics in this game, I only played the trial but I do like the world and the gameplay, its just that there is no way I can stand the retarded animations and the blocky limbs of my character, it totally destroys my immersion. The game is doing well enough to afford redoing this and it will have a longer and better future if it does! |

I really dont care if the animation is bad what really pisses me off is that a lvl 20 helmet can look the same as a lvl 60 helmet, same goes with any armor ingame, that's just plain lazyness from Turbine's side. |

You dont have to look like crap at a low level, or be forced to look the same as you do at a high level.
Aion is a perfect example of this, as a sorcerer and a glad, I felt bad ass at 22, in my new pioneers set, i was the top dog. But when I look at the level 50 sets, those are amazing too, but neither look like each other. Get what I mean? |

So you thing having the choice to have your characters being able to choose between his armor, and either of two cosmetic outfits is a bad thing? Sorry but for me more choices the designers give me the better I like it. |

I think having higher levels having unique looking armor and move choices in building there outfits should be part of what is good about leveling up. Yes a higher lvl person should look exotic and cool to a lower level player. This gives them something to work towards and look forward to at higher levels. Also those comparison screen shots someone made showing eq2 are aweful and completely misleading. EQ2 does have good ground cover and various environmentals as well has quite a bit of variety of water types. I'll make some screen shots and post them tonight or tomorrow including one of the same area shown. This isn't to say that I consider eq2 environments better then Lotro. I like the graphics in lotro better but the difference shown here is a misleading. |

Comparing Archet and Eregion is a bit tough because of the look they're going for. Probably better to compare Eregion and Ered Luin, which are much more similar in overall wow-ness. It should be noted that Eregion is a newer area. Elven areas are meant to have more of a magical, fantasy look, while the Hobbit and Human areas are meant to look alot more down to earth and homey. I do notice some weak textures, most notably inside buildings and many capes. As a result I shut capes off. Somebody mentioned pajama-like starting armor. I second that. AoC's graphics edge LotRO out by a little bit(particularly in animations), but LotRO performs SO much better. I don't think even the newer games like WAR compare. |

It isn't a real picture... So it doesn't show a real view of the game. It is taken from a wierd aerial location and it isn't showing the detail of the environment. So you end up with the landscape minus the environmental stuff. Kinda like in lotro if you look at a hill in the distance, you see the texture and shape and trees but none of the grass and stuff. Anyway I'm working late tonight so I can't pull any screen shots but I will. |

Here are some screen shots I made this evening. The first one is in that same location as the image you posted above.
The middle image is a picture or one of the area's in our guild hall. The mounted heads are trophies of mobs that we have killed. EQ2 has amazing stuff you can do with housing and guilds. The second image is something more like the area in the image you posted from LoTRo. This is an area called enchanted lands. The next is feydark. The 5th one I tried to show some water, same with the 6th & 7th. There are lots of different environments and water varies quite a bit from place to place. Some is pretty flat with only ripples, some is a moving river with waves, some has ocean deep waves. Another fun thing is you can swim in the water and when you do it ripples and moves around you. But anyway, I still like the LoTRo graphics and environments. LoTRo graphics are cleaner feeling and the environments feel more realistic and have generally got better animations. But so far eq2 kills lotro on quantity but not quality. Also some of the dungeon environments I've been in in LoTRo are fantastic and completely unmatched by any other games. That said EQ2 does have it's moments I think it has much more fantastic fantasy type environments. But I'm not really able to fairly evaluate what LoTRo has or doesn't have. I'm only lvl 32 or so and haven't come close to seeing all LoTRo has to offer. Where in EQ2 I've been playing for a couple years. I personally like both games but so far prefer eq2 but I am going to get to the end game and see how lotro is. I've been playing eq2 for a long time and kinda want something else as an alternative from time to time. |

Originally posted by ethion like I said I was just posting from the SOE EQII station screenshots and the ones you posted certainly look a lot like the EQII I remember than the ones on the Station. I was a huge EQII fan from release until I got into the LoTRO beta and would not mind going back for a month except I had a overbilling issue and the SOE customer service rep was a jerk about it. Even though the credit card company got me my money back, the CS ensured I will never give SOE anotehr dime |

lol, that is so true. I have to agree with Jeremy there. It's "clay head" syndrome. However, I highly doubt they will go back and revamp them. I'm not really sure of many games that have done that aside from Sony adding the Soga models. |
