I am looking for a game that has very deep crafting. Please don't suggest EVE as I have played that for quite a while.

No SWG either, I recently returned to that and hit 90 as a structures trader in a week. That is not in depth anymore :( RIP Pre-CU SWG

I know about Haven and Hearth, will be giving that a shot, and I read that Pirates of the Burning Sea has in depth crafting as well. I was hoping for someone to confirm/deny that hopefully. I have tried ATITD as well, but i dont want a game COMPLETELY without combat even if I will not be focusing on it.

And one last requirement. I want a game that has an actual client, not a Java App (IE Wurm Online, Java crashes constantly for me, not willing to put the effort into fixing it)

Maybe if I'm going to have my Xfire profile up, I should start using Xfire...

Afterworld seems to have some pretty in depth crafting, but the graphics are sub-par, it's in alpha and it takes a lot of patience to get anywhere good. http://www.afterworld.ru/

Wurm has some awesome crafting, but it also takes patience and a tolerance for more of a graphical MUD type game. http://www.wurmonline.com/

Then there's Ryzom, which I know someone will suggest. http://www.ryzom.com/en/

I have trouble finding time to play all of my MMOs, heh.

In no particular order, I found these crafting systems to be some of the best I've experienced.

UO, DAOC, EQ II, LOTRO and now Aion.

I did try Wurm, and while I like the game it has issues of crashing ALL THE TIME on my system. Not sure why to be honest. I DID try haven and hearth and haven't had any issues with that, so it has to be something with their scripting...

Well try Ryzom. It's a crazy sci-fi/fantasy mix with a flowing, alive world. There've been complaints but it's cool in it's own right.

Either that or Fallen Earth or Afterworld for a post apocalyptic setting.

Great topic.

Crafting's been a bit of a sore point of mine in recent MMO's lately.   It's like they build a game, and just as an afterthough, "oh! let's toss in some crafting!"   It's become more of a joke than anything.

SWG was bar-none, the best crafting game back in the day (certainly not now as they destroyed that game).

Vanguard had great potential, but turned out to be a massively insane, wrist-slitting grind for absolutely no reason other than to gain a touch of skill.

Many "successful" MMO's crafting systems are laughable.

However,  look into Fallen Earth.   I know it's not quite out yet. (or is it?).   The crafting looks to take a different spin in this game, and there's actual professions that concentrate on being a crafter.  It might be what you're looking for.

Well I did try crafting in Fallen Earth and there are basically limitless supplies of everything. I am a huge fan of the Post-Apocalyptic setting, but FE just wasn't my cup of tea

Plus it felt too empty I guess

Not trying to be a poopmouth with this heh, I was hoping my likes/dislikes would help narrow it down

Currently downloading Ryzom and Afterworld

Anyone know if Pirates of the Burning Sea is any good? I was going to see if there is a trial up but the station launcher download isn't working...

haven and hearth in my oppinion is not newb friendly, the area where you first come into is a barren wastland(this is because Boulders and trees which if not cut down will supply you with the bulk of your materials to make things which in turn gives you LP which is like exp are all cut down or made into some stone statue)  plus the server crashes at least once a week.  but its one of the kewlest ftp games i have come across.

Ryzon just seemed boring and grind heavy.  but it does have a Sweet crafting system.

i too am lookin for what your lookin for as well, but with PvP(well carebear, as they call it, PvP)

i liked vanguard, but I will never play another SoE game again(and this time i mean it :D)

everquest 2 has a Superb crafting system. in the fact it's nice to understand and get the hang of, and your stuff will most likely be in demand, but you will be dealing with SoE.(if your going to be on a pvp server and you want to be proffecient in pvp for your level, then you better like doing quests, and a whole lot of Bloody Quests.)

basically if you can stomach SoE, then try EQ2.

Istaria (Formerly Horizons). Crafting is major there, including construction classes that build structures and stuff on player lots.

Vanguard.  the crafting system is one of the best i have ever seen.  its deep yet not daunting like that of SWG.  It doesnt cost a small fortune to get going, and its fun and contributes to your level

I tried years ago to play that game, but it was when they were going through their takeover or whatever and they weren't taking new subs

That game survived after that?

I honestly have never had any problems with SOE, except for NGE of course haha

Aion??? Your kidding right.. Aion must be your first MMO. Aion crafting is pointless and all it does is rob you of your money

Yeah man it is, but there a power point you can download with some info. I think if you buy the game now you will get into beta, but i am not sure if you will get a beta ticket cause there is a cap of 8k players i think.

Crafting??? Play Fallen Earth it is a crafters dream ! Non fantasy though. In FE you can queue up crafting and actualy Craft while offline! The game's potentil is unbelievable. If you want a fantasy setting play EQ2 or Vanguard! Fallen earth is all about gathering materials and crafting your own stuff. Almost every item in game is player crafted! Most people who start Fallen seem to hate it but after they play for bout a week they can't put it down!  Very addictive gameplay and it doesn't lead you by the nose as so many other mmo;s these days seem to do!

Queue craft? Craft offline?

jesus, thats what u call a crafters dream, to let the game stay offline crafting your queues?

Playing: Aion, World of Warcraft, Dragon Age Origins
Waiting for: Star Wars: The Old Republic, Mass Effect 2, Final Fantasy XIV
