one in the bush is better than one in the hand. |
I'm currently a 29 Elyos Cleric. I have done SOME grinding, but I kind of like to grind a LITTLE here and there. The TG instance leveld me up from 25-28 in 5 days. In those 5 days I pretty much only logged on to do the instance, so the exp there was nice. Post TG, is takeing me FOREVER, heh, to get from 29-30. I'm doing the Eracus Temple, but like most quests, the exp is lame and the "awards" are even lamer. Not one of the Temple quest items is an upgrade for me, NOT ONE. I DO LIKE Aion. I will most likely play till 50. I hear FT is nice, and there is actually some lewts to be had there. I appreciate the list of other instances, because I was not aware of almost all of them. I am a man. I am married. I do have a beautiful 4 year old daughter. I do work full time. I prolly play about 20 hours a week. I made it to 29......... If you come from EQ, this game will NOT seem like a grind. If your first mmo was WOW, it prolly will. |

The real question is, what the hell do you do at 50 that you dont already do levels 30-40? Fortress seiges? Because i do that now at 30, and they are so crowded and laggy its unplayable. I mean they arnt on an instance and an unlimited amount of players can join....and that lag extends thoughout the whole server (in case you werent participating in the fort seige). Its not a little lag, its insane amounts of lag and constant disconnects. Rubberband while flying is my fav. I have no past history of unwarrented mmorpg lag either. Mabey they thought that 300 people seiging on the same instance as everyone else wouldnt create lag? So wer are all worried about how long it take to grind to 50,w hen the real question is, whats so special about 50, other than being able to gank noobs? |

As per seiges causing lag - anyone who ever played early Shadowbane could tell you about that. I guess the devs didn't bother to study games that had issues with that. |

Originally posted by bloodaxes Well there's the dark poeta instance as well as the shugo instance. I I know the shugo instance is supposed to help pve players get higher. there is also the Balaur ship instance, The Dreadgion. I believe these are supposed to be higher level instances but I'll have to see what lvl they start with. edit: found this... http://www.aionarmory.com/search.aspx?browse=3.4 Name Level Type Not sure if both sides hve these or if there is a split So by that link shows there are dungeons that help you level dunno if the OP used them but he didn't mention them so thanks for pointing them out sovrath :)
Yes, there are dungeons. But everything after Nochsana gives pathetic xp compared to just grinding. Also the bosses don't even drop anything half of the times you kill them :) |

Everyone wants to go to Heaven but no one wants to die! |
I think that the OP was making a joke about the man enough part if u notice the "lol" part. Stalwart emotions is actually one of the things that separates men from boys. So if him saying using that upset u then u may want to do a gut check. If u only see what u want to see and not the reality of a situation then thats childish. An example would be a child wanting every toy he/she sees and the parents telling them that they cant afford it. A man knows that undisciplined spending is not wise. A boy on the other hand will see the the denial of the toys with spite instead of knowing that his parents are looking out for his overall well being by buying food with the money instead of toys. Anyways i play MMO's for the reason that they take a long time. If i only have to pay 15 dollars a month as compared to 60 on a new game each month, im going with the MMO. MMO's are community games where people who all like submerging themselves in a reality world for a little while. If getting to max level and then being bored is your thing then do it but stop complaining about it. I'm sure people who group do not have as much of a hard time as u do. I dont mind grinding games. I almost forgot about grinds while playing W.O.W because it wasnt one in W.O.W but i stil enjoyed the game tho and appreciate Blizzard for the fun times. The more i read about the grind in Aion the more i cant wait to get home for R&R. With the grind i know i will be busy for a looong time. |

Thank you for that very profound and in depth review. The better a game is, the less you look at the level you're in, I hope everyone does know that. And since when is "gaining levels" by grinding mobs a final goal - as such - in a role playing adventure game?

While his claim that any kind of grind separates the good players from the bad is ridiculous, the mad rush to the end game is an unfortunate byproduct of WoW. A great deal of people new in the genre are now infused with the idea that "the game starts at the end game", which leads them to burn themselves out in a mad rush towards there, ignoring the journey in the process. It is true though, that if all you do is checking your exp bar, you're not having fun. Which reminds me of those addons in WoW that were calculating how many mobs of a certain kind you needed to kill to level. When people do that in Aion, it's probably a good time to look elsewhere for your fun, either in another MMO or in another genre. |

It really was an extremely stupid decision to raise level cap to 50 from 45. I would like to hear ONE good reason from the makers for that decision, only ONE!
... other than the possibility of them getting more money since people needs more game time to reach the level cap. Only now massive amounts of people will leave beacause they get bored trying to get there in the first place

I THINK OP IS A PRETTY COOL GUY, HE GRINDS 450 HOURS AND ISNT AFRAID OF ANYTHING

Honestly, Portland that was just plain rude. For someone to take the dedication and strength to get that far, that is something. For you to sit here a post on a forum how they have no life.. that indicates all you do is sit around and read forums for endless hours while trying to think of what to do with your life. Accept the people who love to play games just as others accept you for.. well whatever you are. This is a MMORPG forum. Respect what people do and how much they achieve. In life or in a game, it's still something. |

Honestly, there only a few LEGIT people who are level 50 already. And my guess is that 90% of those would be rangers and sorcerors, who can solo elites and get 300k exp. Although, they do have to kite the elite mob for 5 minutes lol. Or, its 2 or 3 people taking turns playing on the same character, which I've heard a few people doing. Which is fine, I really dont see any problems with that. However, what I do have a problem with are the bots. Whoever said that they see just as many bots as they do in other games, I say BS to you! There are so many in Aion that it's ridiculous, to the point of being laughable. I've been in areas of the game with 10 people close to me, and i was the only one actually playing. That's how bad the bots are. For the last few days before I stopped playing, I just got the bots killed. Since most of them are gladiators I would just kite 2 mobs near them, wait for him to use an AoE, then mobs catch the aggro from them and get the bot get killed. And when that wasn't fun anymore, I quit. |

Sitting on your ass staring at the computer screen for 12 hours a day mashing buttons in a repetitive order for months on end is associated with manliness? Oh gods. |

I like MMOs alot, I just think 12 hour days are serious addiction. If you play *that* much and consider it normal...it's not. It's beyond unhealthy. |

Yes im a little burned out Thiw week im off aion due to exams in the university. You think its easy to grind in aion???? Try getting to level 40 or better yet if you got enough patience like me you shoudl try getting to level 43. Easy grinding huh? I woudl like your view when you hit those levels around 40's. I have to grind 900,000 ab for the best abyss gears and some medals. But abyss is going to take awhile. If your not already level 40's now i suggest you prepare for a long ass grind of your life getting to level 45. Everything gives crap exp EVERYTHING. They purposely make your grinding life miserable by introducing the hell grind from 40 to 45. I think ncsoft made a cruel joke on the rest of aion players by installing the hell grind of level 40- level 45. Its like they purposely made it to piss off people.
I have close to 12 gallons of red bull altogether gridning almost nonstop from levle 40-45 then any other levels ive experienced. I dont plan on doing it again either. Yea i lost my social life to the grind and i dont plan on doing it again on a new alternate character, thats just not me and i realized it. |

Furor could you at least provide your character name? I won't even bother reading your comments anymore since from your last "review" you said aion is more grinder then lineage there is something wrong so till you give me/us your character name to see if you really got till that level I will consider it a troll attempt. |
