No gold spammers.  I just tried Aion and within the first 60 seconds ingame I saw 30 lines of gold seller spam.  It was 100x worse than WAR was.

Know thy enemy.  At least its a pile of crap as other EQ clones out there are.  Darkfall > EQ clones

PS - I didnt pay for it.  Used a friends account.  Not worth paying for.

Only good thing about Darkfall is that it had show other devs what NOT to do if they want subscribers in their games :)

Another good thing other developers can learn from Aventurine is how to design the world and not just spam a random mediocre or cartoonish environment for their customers.  But could be their customers have mediocre needs and deserve that :)

You only find gold sellers in games with a decent population. They actually need someone to sell their gold to. With only a few hundred ppl on at any given time, I guess its not even worth a gold sellers time.

Seriously, DF is just not a game for goldfarmers/spammers.

As many complains about DF that its to harsh. Same rule is applyed on farmers. They dont get special treatment as in other MMOs.

No the post above you was correct. You don't find gold spammers where there are no customers.

You really think any of your pitiful guilds could stand against an organized Chinese gold farming guild? ROFLMAO yeah right.

It is the trolls and game haters that take DarthRaiden's posts seriously. Its their own personal fault for doing that.

I kind of figured that it was because Aventurine has the Asian ip's blocked.

Dear Leader Tasos mentioned it back during launch, I believe.

Anyway, I'm just curious about the "special treatment" that the gold sellers/spammers/farmers etc., receive in other MMOs.

They can't be killed.  That's their special treatment.  You can buy gold in Darkfall.  You just don't get spammed to hell.  Darkfall was hyped like crazy but even at launch there were no spammers.  I guess they died to quickly to the hands of other players.  Player justice 4TW.

I saw some goldselling going on when I played, but it quickly died out.

Frankly, with so many titles around to have a profit from, why would the RMT industry waste time with DFO? They go where there are enough players to pay for their activities. After all, it's a business, for them. Since only a minority is stupid enough to buy gold/powerlevelling, the demand in DFO must be tiny indeed.

And, yes, from a certain point of view, it's a good thing. Shame it harbors from a terrible thing (lack of players).

Nah you can buy gold on darkfall, it's just INSANELY overpriced. (like $35 for 1000 gold (which is the equivalent of about 30g in wow))

Anyway, from what I've heard, when people buy gold from the farmers in that game, the farmers come to the trade spot with a group of like 20 allies in case you decide to fight them.

I keep hearing this shit about lack of players... Agon is a huge world, and although NA-1 may not have 10,000 people yet, there is a good enough amount for a gold market. The fact is that it's a pain in the ass to farm gold in this game. Gold farmers have it easy in other games because not just anybody can kill them at anytime and take all their loot. I personally would never buy gold in Darkfall as it's against the rules to sell in game gold.. so it must be against the rules to buy it as well?

First of all,  What you people do not understand is darkfall is a very opened up game to HACKS galore.

Do you honestly think someone who can make a hack to fly and teleport and shoot through walls can't hack to create or copy gold into millions?

Furthermore,  Every gold farmer is a criminal/cheat who has no problem making 100's of accounts and buying the game 100's of times.

Gold farmers simply do not hit darkfall for subcription numbers and no other reason.  There is no market in darkfall,  Why would I a farmer go to a double server game with maybe 1000 people on a server at a time to waste money on multiple accounts where only less tahn 1% of those thousand buy gold.  Gold is so far less important in darkfall than it is in lets say Aion where gear is king just like WoW.

Trust me I have played darkfall for 5 months after launch.  If darkfall had mass subscriptions and many servers it would be worst than Aion.  Darkfall can never get that big of a game because of its easy to hack script.  Again trust me,  gold would be hacked to billions, sold everywhere for dirt cheep and the whole game would be royally dead.

This person has never played darkfall before so please do not read his post.  1000 gold in darkfall is the same price it cost to buy 3 mounts at 300g each.  1000 gold is completely worth nothing in darkfall and is probably the bare minimum in terms of gold.  I would make 5k-10k an hour farming higher level earth elementals.

Just google Darkfall Gold.  Just because you don't have gold spammers, doesn't mean the sellers aren't there.  They may not be there in mass quantities due to lower numbers of players, but there are a few.  I have seen prices ranging from 29 cents to $2, you could probably find it for more or less, but I am not delving that far into researching it.

Besides, if I were a gold seller in an open pvp environment, I definitely would not spam.  All that does is let others know you are there and put a target on your back, making future sales difficult.  In this kind of game, it would be better to do your business in secret.

DFO's poo stinks just like any other game, the sellers are just more clandestine.

Exactly why I said that 35$ for 1000 gold is insanely overpriced.

And that's what makes open PVP games superior to themeparks....we decide wtf is going on in the gameworld... even more than say a sandbox like EVE which has empire space....

How do you want to make money secretly when you gold farm? Think again please. Wow is the most popular game for example. If no one spam, there will only be one site of gold farm alive because when players will google it, they will click on the 1st site they see at the top. Well, instead, they make bot that spam with a fake name and the players go to the site or something.

Dont just post it, try to gold farm to see how its suppose to be. If you dont spam, your site wont even hit 1000 clicks. You might get only 100 and none of them would want to buy your stuff or maybe just 2 of them, but then, it would be a waste.

Sorry, that's not special treatment. Everyone plays by the same rules regardless of style.

Daarco said it like the sellers were in bed with the developers or something. Which, given Aventurine's track record, wouldn't surprise me at all.

Superior to themeparks? That's debatable and purely an opinion. Not even worth discussion.

As far as comparing Darkfall to other games? I find it as nothing more than a sad attempt to somehow prop up Darkfall and Aventurine. The truth is, Darkfall, with the exception of being "3D", can't even compare with a game that is 12 years old.

Player justice 4TW. How's that working out? Because it wasn't working when I quit in June. In fact, it has never worked in an MMO, and for Aventurine to think that it would magically work for them is beyond naive. Raph Koster has a few articles as to why posted on his site, if anyone cares to read them.

As for gold sellers, I have already stated that Aventurine has all Asian countries blocked, but add that to the dismal population and the lack of a free trial, there aren't going to be too many. And at $50+ a pop, there probably never will be.

Then again, who cares? Or was this just another attempt to "prop" up Darkfall?

Until Darkfall can hold it's own, on it's own merits, let's at least leave the horns and cymbals packed away.

Let's just stop all the "my dad can beat up your dad" nonsense. Deal?

Okay, so in a game, with an open pvp environment, you spam, people learn your toons name, they track you, kill you, make life difficult for you and maybe take your money.  May not be that big of a deal if you have multiple accounts, but if you don't, then it is a very big deal, and you have marked yourself.  Follow that train of thought?

Now, in DFO, you don't see spammers (from what others are saying), but if you google DFO gold, you clearly see it being sold online.  That's how they make their money, openly on the web if you look for it, but in secret on DFO itself.  They don't want people to know who they are, because one character per account makes it a difficult prospect at best.  So, no spamming.

So, why don't you think again cupcake.  The gold is being sold, there is no doubting that, and from what I can understand, there has been no spamming in the chat channels.  Riddle me that.

Hell, I even just found dfo powerlevelling and items for sale on a few sites.  No spammers needed it seems.

Good point.

But Aion do have more players and you have more use of gold in it. Therefor it have more goldsellers.

just simple magic. NC soft have been rather slow to try to stop the gold sellers also, it doesn't help either but most goldsellers foocus on a few of the largest games.

I play EQ2, it is a lot larger compared to DF but I only got 2 spamms in 2 years.

Of course have many of the goldspammers also a huge advantage since they have played the game for ayear on a asian server, they know a lot better than most people how to get money.
