Well, I have only played for 30 minutes, but I am on the verge of an Uninstall....My story

I was very excited about Fallen Earth, finally an MMO I will enjoy.
After purchasing online (from Steam) I was surprised that the 6 gb download only took a couple of hours.

I installed the game, created my character and began the tutorial..that's when the problems started.

I made it through the first couple steps of the tutorial quest, then had to kill a guard and take his rifle..but there was no guard. I retraced my steps thinking I missed something, but I didn't.??  I couldn't go through the door, it kept insisting that I needed a rifle!!

After 20 minutes of  checking every nook and cranny for this damn guard, I finally asked for help in the 'HELP' channel and someone advised me to logout and log back in.
What?? The opening tutorial is bugged?!!?

So after 3 logout/login cycles the guard finally appeared., and I made it out of the tutorial.

Now I realize this game was made on a small budget, but come on.
The first 10 minutes of gameplay for me is the real sample of whats to come. Most MMO's put alot in to the starter areas and to have a possible major bug in the starter area that prevents you from continuing? Bad Idea.

Just my two cents.

So for anyone not sure if this game is for you, I would hold off for a month or two and wait for the patches to hit.

Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt

That sucks man. As much as I am absolutely loving this game, I'd be pissed off and disappointed if I had that issue as well, especially 10 minutes into a new purchase.

With that said, I've now run 4 characters through the tutorial and never had a single issue with it. It's been flawless for me. The most recent was 2 days ago. So I am curious if this is a random issue, something that broke in the past 2 days, maybe I just lucky? I know you wouldn't know those answers and I know that none of them are excusable, but I am still curious now.

Anyway, I find the game to be an amazing amount of fun and I hope that things get better for you in the game and that you end up having a long, fun filled experience in FE too :)

Troll says, "I'm a troll bitches. Dance!"
MMORPG members say, "Hey, macarena!"

In the log in screen use the file defrag to clean the game files and those problems will go away. Also give a read over in the manual and tweek settings as suggested. It takes 15 minutes, you wont have any other problems after that.

Happy gaming. :)

Actually, strangely enough the tutorial is probably the glitchiest part of the game. I don't know when they added it in since I wasn't really in the beta. I do know the rifle thing might be a throwback issue to them having to modify the tutorial level since some wiseguys found a way to smuggle the tutorial rifle outside the tutorial so they had to mess around with it recently to fix that.

Honestly, I wouldn't judge it by the tutorial area, it gives a fairly bad impression unfortunately. I really takes a day or two to get a feel of if its going to be your kind of game or not.

Actually I had the same kind of thing happen to me when I first started playing the game. The first time the guard was there so I killed him and tried looting him for his rifle but it just wouldnt pick it up. Then the game crashed. I logged back in and I was back in the same room but the guard had gone so I couldnt proceed. I tried relogging again and got the same thing. I was trapped. I had to delete the character and start it again.

However I persevered and overcame my other initial shaky first impressions of the game and I am now rather enjoying it. Its not perfect but it does a lot of things rather well. At the very least its more interesting than anything else on offer at the moment.

The OP is having better luck than my first time in FE. I started the game in beta and it would lock up my system every 10 minutes. It took me hours just to figure out that the crash happened only in first person mode. In my case it was excusable due to the beta state and all, but even for release its good practice to persevere through some start up trouble in any game. PC games have a long proud history of being difficult and challenging to break the ice on, but they are almost always worth the extra effort.

It was in the open beta and like the OP, the reason I didn't buy the game...at first. Bought it a couple weeks after release after you all raved about it and now (after a few fixes/tweeks) I am addicted to this.

Also, OP, you can skip the tutorial at the first consle. The noob quests will teach you how to play. :)

I'm having a lot of fun with this game, but I must say it's way to early for them to be releasing a free trial. Threads like this one will be popping up everywhere, and the game will get a really bad reputation (which will be deserved).
