A few months ago there were dozens of new topics started in their sever politics forums daily. Now there's maybe 3 - 4 new topics on a good day. Their irc channel had hundreds of people chatting a few months ago, and thousands were chatting back at euro release. Now there are around 50 people there.

I think it's safe to say that a lot of people are gone. I'm guessing that the game might have about 2000 - 3000 active subscriptions. They probably have around 1000 players logged in during prime time on a week day.

How dare you post evidence Sir !

Seriously, anyone with half a brain cell knows  people left this game in droves and it was not just 'carebears'. Sadly any evidence of these losses cannot be accepted by the four or five zealous fanbotsa that inhabit these boards. DF and AV are probably one of the worst releases of MMORPG history. The only sad thing in all of this is that AV has ceased the silly behaviour and nothing amusing is emerging. Minus everyone that was laughing on the sideline and you have *few* people giving a damn about this game.

When a company behaves like Av have... what else is to be expected?

at the risk of sound fanbotish, how has av acted exactly?

Oh please, are you really that dense?? or just a major league troll??

I like the way you think, but regardless, you're wrong.  I pvp quite a bit, travelling from hotspot to hotspot and player city to player city, and there have to be many more people than 1k actives on at prime time on the NA server alone.  Unless the 75% of hotspots/player cities I don't normally visit on my routes are totally dead, there are probably at least 3k active during primetime on the NA server.

Active subs... no clue.  At least 10k?  One thing to keep in mind is that there is likely a much smaller contingent of casual players playing darkfall than other games, so the old 10:1 / subs:actives rule most likely doesn't apply.

"Damn you, poetical justice" - Homer Simpson

On Oct 19th:

DarkFall:

#180 up from #199 yesterday
Highest: #49 on 2009-03-18

Xfire users playing per day
83
Minutes played per day
44,769

World of Warcraft:

#1 no change for 1480 days
Highest: #1 on 2009-10-18

Xfire users playing per day
65,156
Minutes played per day
21,927,902

So, if 11.5 million players play WoW, then 11,500,000 divided by 65,156 = 176. That means for each player that uses Xfire, there are 176 players that don't.

Now, take those 176 and multiply by 83 = 14608. That is a rough estimate of players that are playing the game right now.

IMO, that ain't that bad at all. Im actually surprised by these numbers.

I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

MMOs require more reasoning and imagination than most stereotypically ''adult'' activities.

I commend this effort, however... this assumes that the same type of gamers play WoW that play DF.  Of course we know this is not the case.  And so as a percentage of overall players I think it's safe to assume that less WoW players use XFire than DF players.  Heck, most WoW players have never heard of XFire (I mean no insult to WoW players at all.  I personally don't use XFire either).   So, in conclusion I think that 14608 number is a bit high.  I'd guess <10k DF players.

Why continue guessing when there is no way to know with any true accuracy?

This seems pointless to me.

Who the hell use X-fire anyway? I have it installed in my com, but i never touched it once. I installed it because when i had to install a game(forget the name) They told me if i wanted to install x-fire. I said yes and i never touched it once.

Someone post something saying that only 10k or 20k wow players use x-fire. Wow is like the most popular game with 11million subs. DF got from 10k subs to 30k and only 70 players use x-fire. So i ask again, who the fuck use x-fire? That thread is useless and x-fire dont count as a faq for the number of players that currently play a game.
