WoW is now passed its prime guys. WoW is slowly dieing... There is no game out there that is killing it, its just dieing. Matter of time before they start closing down servers. They are adding every bit of gimick they can before people start leaving. The server populations is terrible.

I logged in on of my characters to find 1 person in ironforge 5 people in dalaran and 23 level 80s on. This is what they pass off as a "MEDIUM" population server. This is common on all servers as the population balance is terrible. Their payed realm and faction transfer is killing their game. You can now also create races from the opposite faction as a feable attempt to compensate for the population balance.

This is only 1 problem of many that is killing WoW.

These huge number of subscriptions you see are total crap. Half of them were owned by the chinese and since they banned gold farming, youll see a huge drop in subs. RAF accounts are also the culprit for this massive subscription count. People are creating multiple accounts and powerlevleing, skipping all the content, leaving the lower level instances to be ghostlands.

There is no coincidence to why after many years of being against faction, and realm transfers, even when saying it was impossible to program this, that they impliment these changes.

The talent system is unfixable with the disaster of WoTLK. It isimpossible to balance this many talent trees on all classes. This is what they are spending all of their time on.

You may not see drastic changes to the game like NGE with SWG, but slow changes over time as you know, changing every aspect of the game much like NGE.

I still have my subscription to WoW, but will most likely be cancelling it as this EQ style mmorpg is so tiring.

Its almost funny how inaccurate you are with just about everything you just said. I really don't see wow gaming a ton more new subscribers but its far from dying. Thing is your thread here is nothing new everything you just stated has been said before and shot down. No very few are owned by chinese gold farmers because well thats illegal in China now i believe. The talent system is fine in the game. Sure its unbalanced in pvp but then again they balance everything for PVE so they are doing the best they can. Sorry bud but this whole post made you look really bad.

I'm not sure if OP is trying to deliver a point. Are you telling us you're canceling WoW because it's dying (the correct spelling), pointing out the mistakes/criticising, or just trying to bring down the game (flame).

oh, hi. 2006 called. they want their news back. :) more seriously, WoW will be "dying" for quite a few years, barring radical changes from Blizzard. inertia is hard to kill.

everything in my post is accurate and i have stated that the chinese subscription base is dminishing because of the ban on gold farming. also, the reason behind the rapid gain in subscriptions is not because "everyones going for the hot new game", its because of people creating multiple accounts for raf bonuses and paying for 2 months of subscription to get a free zhebra mount and a free month of sub on the main accounts.

Bye.  Can I have your stuff?

Seriously...quick check on Amazon.com, since I was on there anyways, shows me that WotLK is not only still in the top 10 for game sales, but it's outselling Aion as well.   So apparently you have some personal definition of "dying" that is contrary to what the rest of the world thinks.

Even if  WOW lost 50% of its subs today they still would have a larger number of subscribers than any other MMO out there today.

Eventually WOW will decline but it will likely be a slow decent as Blizzard will do their very best to please the population.

As long as they have a profit they will make expansions and maintain the servers. So barring major inovation and mass migration to other games WOW will be around several more year at minimum.

I'm and old player and with the new expansion changing the original world and changes to the actual game mechanincs i'm going to give it another whirl.  I imagine as long as Blizzard keeps the polish up and adds content regularly they are going to have a player base for a long time.

Asheron's Call, Champions Online, Dark Age of Camelot, EVE Online, EverQuest, Lineage 2, Star Wars Galaxies and World of Warcraft.Waiting for SWTOR

Hm...ok.  Dying, and it's taken...5-ish years.  By this logic...we should expect it to be completely dead by...2014 or so, give or take, right?

Awesome, so I've still got time to finish leveling that alt.  Can I still have your stuff or not?

Yup, a service mostly used by first person shooters still shows a MMO at the top. Btw, I tried logging in last night at 7 pm. central, there was a queue.

Let's not forget that we are approaching the end of the line for the WOTKL expansion............
What I mean is that it has been already 12 months since the expansion came out, majority of players probably achieved everything achievable in this expansion and might have run out of content.

I bet my whole monthly salary that after the new expansion, everyone who has a "dormant" account with WoW will  re-subscribe.

C'mon guys, EQ a 10 y/o game with arcaic graphic still holds onto its players quite well, what makes you think that WoW won't be able to?

Remember boys, unless something better than Wow comes out, WoW will be the top MMO.
In my opinion the only products that can give WoW hard time are 4 (maybe 5):
SWTOR from Bioware, Guild Wars 2 from Arenanet, Fallout Online (or Elders Scroll Online) from Bethesda, and...... surprise surprise, the new MMO fom Blizzard.
I could add EQ3 from SoE if Sony can get their act together and give the beautiful Lore the respect it deserve (AKA no WoW copycats).

Waiting for: Archeage - Guild Wars 2 - Everquest Next - The Elder Scroll Online
Now Playing: World of Warcraft and Darkfall
Favorite MMO: Everquest - Everquest 2 (Pre EoF) - Ultima Online - Eve Online - Darkfall
Next Big Flop: DC Universe - The Agency

NOt sure what the point is here.

Og course the game is slowly dying - they all are as it is inevitable. But thats hardly news to anyone with a brain. This is why they have a release strategy for expansions and content to revitalise the community.  People were sayng the same thing before WOTLK and it was largest launch day sales game in history - I expect the same with Cataclysm.

Basing your view of the health of game on how many people you see next to you when you log in is ridiculous and about as shallow as study as you can get.

Is it passed its prime? Who knows, it depends on the number fo future expansions and how long they want to keep this model before a full new release overtakes it.

I don't know what your drinking there OP but give it up. WoW has at least another ten to twelve years of content life left to fill. Still various places Blizzard has not even touched in game and still can add another contenient if they wish.

Considering all Blizzard has to do is release an expansion, or hell...even a major content patch, and it kills every other MMO released around that time...not sure if I'd consider that dying, especially in this genre.

That is the funniest line ever, but oh so true.  As such, I'd like to use it to replace the stupid comment by the P.E. developer about Star Trek.

That is the reason WoW has dominated the market the way it has.  If the whole "reboot" of cataclysm is successful, then I that will lay the foundation for what other companies do to their games for a long time.  Over expanding just creates mountains of useless content that wastes space and servers resources.  Look at either EQ for an example of that.

Cataclysm will really tell if wow has passed its prime, but regardless of that I sure wish the market wasn't clogged with so many boring mmos.  I am more than ready for another game to explore, learn and grow with, but everything else right now seems like a step backwards.

warcraft has been declared dieing for years now, i'm sure the OP's post wont be the last on the subject, eventually someone will guess right, right?

I have a suspicion that WoW's next xpac after Cataclysm--will be World of Warcraft 2.

You know they are working on it as we speak.

Blizzard is a smart business that has made some pretty good decisions that made them so untouchable, you can't expect they'll just sit on their laurels. If they want to stay on top ten years from now...they really have to be building WoW 2.

I think this is the last xpac they'll get away with without evolving the game into the next generation of PC's.

WoW hit it's plateau with the release of Burning Crusade. Since then it's all been down hill and anyone who hadn't played WoW before BC has little credibility to their opinions on the subject regardless of how long you've played.

/end rant

And with that one statement, your entire post is discredited.

If it was as truly bad as you say (only 23 80s on and only 5 people in Dalaran), then the first thing you would do is cancel your sub to the game.

However, your post is simply a typical troll post with all of the typical parts: no population, only real players are gold farmers, Blizzard doesn't know how to make a game..... check, check and check.
